Roland sighed, opening the system again. It had been almost 3 days since he had reincarnated, but it still felt strange when he saw the screen appear in front of him.
[Form: Rock (Unidentified)]
[HP: 20/20]
[Def] [2]
[Mana] [1]
[Skills]
[Mana Sense Lv.7]
Looking at the tiny screen, he shook his head. He had kind of expected it, given he had reincarnated as a rock, but he was still disappointed. He still didn't know the use of the system even until now, so he had to wait until he found out. Moreover, he couldn't even move! From the day he had reincarnated, he hadn't been able to move at all. A loud notification from the system sent him out of his thoughts.
"Ding!"
[Mana Sense Leveled Up]
When he reincarnated, he already had the Mana sense skill, so he figured out how to use it a while ago. By extending small treads of mana into the air, he could effectively sense everything in a certain radius. The range and efficiency had grown every time it leveled up, allowing him to see the area he was in better and better. He had kept it on ever since he had found out how to use it, so it had already gained a few levels. Because of this, he knew that skills would level up as he used them, but he still couldn't figure out how to get more of them. It was through this that he figured out he was on a small grassy hill. Although he couldn't see the surrounding area very well, he was likely in some sort of plain.
Suddenly, he sensed something and quickly sent more mana to the area to see what was happening more clearly. Before he could make sense of what was going on, he was suddenly knocked out of the way and started rolling down the hill. Through his mana sense, he speculated that it was probably some large animal or something similar that had run over him. A sudden notification from the system diverted his attention from what just happened.
"Ding!"

Confused, he opened up the system again, to find a new section.
[Achievements]
[Move 1 Meter] [Collect Reward]
When he saw this, Roland allowed a small smile to appear on his non-existent face and moved his(also non-existent) hand towards the button. When his (Still non-existent) finger went through the screen, a frown replaced his smile. Seeming to think of something, he concentrated on a single thought.
'Collect!'
[3 System Points obtained]
[Shop Unlocked]
[Movement Allowed]
He sighed in relief, trying to move first. He rolled a bit on the ground experimentally. Seeing that he could finally move around, he celebrated before deciding to look at the new section he unlocked, the shop.
[Skills]
[Misc.]
Without much hesitation, he went into skills tab to see if there was anything helpful for his current situation.
[Mana Manipulation] [50 SP]
[Water Creation] [60 SP]
[Wind Blade] [75 SP]
[Fireball] [60 SP]
...
He sighed, closing the screen. He clearly didn't have enough system points to buy anything from here. He would need at least 50 SP points for the cheapest skill, so it would take quite a while to collect the amount. Once more, he opened the shop, going to the misc. section instead.
[Water Bottle (2)] [1 SP]
[Bread (3)] [1 SP]
[Cooked Steak] [3 SP]
...
Shaking his head, he closed the screen once more. he knew that although they would be useful for any living being, it wouldn't be of any use to him, as he was currently a rock, and rocks clearly didn't need to eat or drink.
"Ding!"
[Achievement Completed]
Exasperated due to the annoying sound made by the system, he opened the achievement tab once more, trying to find out what it was.
[Achievements]
[Survive for 3 Days] [Collect Reward]
'What!?!'
Angrily, he closed the system without collecting the reward and flopped around on the dirt covered ground. To actually get a reward for doing nothing, he felt that even his own system was insulting him for being useless. Another notification alerted him and he opened the system again, to see what it was this time around. When he saw what it was, he immediately went right back to rolling on the ground, sending spirals of dust into the air.
[Achievements]
[Get Covered in Dirt] [Collect Reward]
[Survive for 3 Days] [Collect Reward]

Resting quietly on the ground, Roland allowed himself to sink into his thoughts. After releasing his pent up anger, he realized that no matter what, he would definitely need the rewards from the achievements anyway. He sighed, before reluctantly going into the achievement screen.
'Collect.'
[5 SP Obtained]
[5 SP Obtained]
[New skill: Telekinesis, obtained]
Although unwilling, after looking at the SP gained, he was satisfied that he was one step closer to getting a skill from the shop. However, when he saw the new skill, he was instantly thrilled and decided to test it out immediately. He prepared himself before checking on the skill to see what it did, though its effect was rather obvious.
[Telekinesis]
[By surrounding things with mana, this skill allows you to move things according to your will.]
After reading the description, he felt he had a better idea of how the skill worked. Activating the skill, he found himself floating in the air. Exhilarated, he felt he could control the entire world with a single thought! He flew around in the sky for a bit longer, trying to get a feel for it. That is, until he ran out of mana and fell onto the ground. He groaned, writhing around on the ground. Although tired due to using too much of his mana, he was happy because he heard a familiar sound.
"Ding!"
[Achievement Completed]
As if he had practiced it a million times, he opened the achievement screen once more.
[Achievements]
[Fly One Foot Above Ground] [Collect]
[Move 3 meters] [Collect]
'Collect!'
[15 SP Obtained]
[10 SP Obtained]
Seeing the amount of points he just got, he knew he was a lot closer to getting a skill from the shop. Calculating the amount of points he currently had, he realized that he still didn't have enough for a single skill yet. He still required 12 system points for the cheapest skill, mana manipulation.
nonetheless, he now knew that if he traveled far enough, he would get an achievement, and would probably get another one once he flew up to a certain height as well. When he thought of this, he quickly made a plan to get enough SP. Activating the telekinesis skill once he was ready and had enough mana, he immediately flew straight up towards the sky.
"Thump!"
As he fell to the ground again, Roland discerned that he would need to level up the skill once again before he could fly high enough. He tried to remember what happened before he fell. It seemed like when he got to about a foot high, there was an invisible barrier there, preventing him from going any higher.
Comprehending this, he decided to complete the traveling achievement first. Now that he could finally move around, this would be a lot easier.
As he rolled off into the distance, he grasped something. Since telekinesis could move objects, was it possible to make him faster by using it? Testing his hypothesis, he activated the skill, attempting use the mana surrounding him to propel himself forward instead of upwards. To his excitement, he found that there was a notable increase in his speed! Soon after that though, he started to slow down.
'This is exhausting.' He thought.
The use of telekinesis was extremely taxing on his mana, and although rolling didn't need as much energy as flying, it still depleted his mana supply rather quickly.
He continued forward, alternating between using telekinesis and normally rolling to conserve his mana.
An hour later, he still hadn't heard the sound of an achievement completing.
'When will I be done!?' He glared at the shining yellow sun, staring at him from from the sky.
Continuing to roll over the seemingly endless plain, he decided to level up his other skill while he was at it, mana sense.
Although he could feel anything the rock was touching, his mana sense would be able tell him much more about an area, and he had already seen that when it leveled up. The range of it had increased, allowing him to see things from further away.
This was very important, since he wouldn't be able to see anything without it.
Not only that, but telekinesis had become level 3 now. Due to this, he didn't need as much mana to use it anymore.
He decide to use telekinesis less often, to save some mana for the use of mana sense. And thus, Roland began his long, tedious, grinding session.
