[Time Until Upgrade is Complete: 2 days 22 hours 47 minutes]
'This is boring,' Roland thought for the forty-seventh time in the last hour. The upgrade would last a lot longer, and he couldn't access the system again until it was done.
It was a good thing that he could still use his skills though, so he at least had something to do. He was currently rolling around the perimeter of the wall now, looking for a village. He had already guessed this when he saw the wall, but it was likely that there was a place where people lived, hence the wall. The creatures inside there were no joke, and they could easily kill a person. Perhaps the people living nearby made this wall to keep themselves safe, or some powerful and rich person made it when they came to the village, though that was very unlikely.
Unfortunately, the search had no results, even after he searched for another five hours.
'Why is the wall so huge?!'
It was no that he couldn't find anything, but that the wall was just too big!'
He doubted that he was even a third of the way around the perimeter of the wall even after so long. Eventually, he stopped, deciding he would try again after the system was upgraded. He decided to just train his skills for a bit, although it was unlikely there would be any improvement. Like that, another two and a half days passed.
[Upgrade Complete]
[System Being Reactivated]
[New Functions Unlocked]
'Finally,' Roland thought, reopening the system for the first time in the last three days.

[Skills]
[Mana Sense Lv.9] [Telekinesis Lv.9] [Mana Manipulation Lv.9]
'Nothing new here,' he thought to himself, before going to the achievements page.
Immediately, he noticed something was different. There were now two sections.
[Achievements]
[Repeatable Achievements]
As soon as he noticed this, he immediately clicked on the new section.
[Repeatable Achievements]
[Move 3 Meters] [3/3]
[Level up a Skill] [2/2]
[Learn a New Skill] [1/1]
Just as he was wondering what all this was, a torrent of information entered his mind.
'I see...' With the newfound information, Roland found out what this was for. The section would reset every day, with new achievements. Unlike normal ones, these could be done multiple times, but they still had a limit, hence the 2/2 or 3/3. Every time he completed an achievement, the number of times he could complete it would go down, so it could be 1/2, 2/3, or something similar. The earnings would be less than normal achievements, but this would give him something to do while he was bored.
Immediately, he rolled around for a while, before stopping. Opening the screen again, he claimed the three rewards from the achievements. He could do all three achievements in one go since he only needed to travel a total of nine meters.
[3 SP Obtained]
'That's it?' He had known that the reward wouldn't be high, but he hadn't expected such a small amount of system points. Each achievement had only given him one SP!
Continuing, he tried to train his skills again for the next achievement. As soon as he used them, he heard three consecutive notifications from the system.
[Mana Sense Leveled Up]
[Telekinesis Leveled Up]
[Mana Manipulation Leveled Up]
[Achievement Completed]
Although momentarily stunned, Roland regained his posture. Immediately, he went back into the system. Was the upper limit of skills level 9 if he didn't upgrade the system?

[Mana Sense Lv.10(Evolve?)]
[Telekinesis Lv.10(Evolve?)]
[Mana Manipulation Lv.10(Evolve?)]
'Evolve?' He thought, before randomly choosing one of the buttons next to the skills.
[Issuing skill evolution quest for Mana Sense]
...
[Skill Evolution Quest] [Mana Sense]
[Requirements for Completion:]
[Use Mana Sense 1000 times]
[Maintain Mana Sense For One Hour] β
[Rewards:]
[Mana Sense evolves into Spirit Sense]
'What is this?' Roland wondered. Immediately, more information was sent to his mind.
When a skill got to level ten, he couldn't level it up any further. Instead, he had to evolve the skill, resetting the level and upgrading the skill to make it stronger. To evolve the skill though, he had to complete a quest.
Now that he knew this, he immediately checked what he had to do. Knowing he had to use it 1000 times, Roland started spamming mana sense, turning it on and off over and over again.
A few minutes later, he heard a notification.
[Quest Complete]
[Mana Sense Evolved Into Spirit Sense]
'Next,' He muttered to himself, moving on to the next skill.
[Issuing skill evolution quest for Telekinesis]
...
[Skill Evolution Quest] [Telekinesis]
[Requirements for Completion:]
[Fly 300 Meters using Telekinesis]
[Maintain Telekinesis for One Hour] β
[Rewards:]
[Telekinesis evolves into Basic Mind Magic]
'This will take a bit longer,' Roland thought. He had already used Telekinesis for a long time during the battle with the cat and when he was traveling, leaving only the first requirement, flying. He hadn't used telekinesis to fly in a long time, so it was about time to see what it could do.
Using the skill, he flew up, hovering about 3 feet in the air.
[Achievement Completed]
Temporarily ignoring it, he started moving, slowly speeding up. After another 15 minutes, he stopped.
[Quest Complete]
[Telekinesis Evolved Into Basic Mind Magic]
'Last one,' he thought, choosing to evolve mana manipulation this time.
[Issuing skill evolution quest for Mana Manipulation]
...
[Skill Evolution Quest] [Mana Manipulation]
[Requirements for Completion:]
[Use Mana Manipulation for 10 days]
[Use mana manipulation with 3 skills]
[Rewards:]
[Mana Manipulation evolves into Pure Mana]
'The first one would be done soon.' He thought. Calculating the time, it should be completed in another day or two, so Roland decided to move on. The second requirement shouldn't take too long either. He just needed to get another skill that used mana. Moreover, he could complete another achievement. After opening the shop, he expanded the list, showing what other skills he could get. Seeing there wasn't anything particularly useful, he decided to get an offensive spell, Wind Blade.
Of course, he didn't have enough points for it, but that could be solved pretty quickly.
'Collect'
[5 SP Obtained]
[10 SP Obtained]
Looking at the number of skill points he had, he knew he already had enough. The skill cost 75 system points, and he already had 76. Of course, he would only have one point left after that, but it didn't really make a difference.
'Wind Blade'
[Purchasing Wind Blade for 50 SP]
[Confirm?]
[Yes] [No]
'Yes,'
[Wind Blade Added to your Skill List]
[Achievement Completed]
Seeing the achievement was completed, he collected the reward.
[5 SP Obtained]
After that, he checked the status screen one more time, before closing the system.

[(II)Spirit Sense Lv.1] [(II)Basic Mind Magic Lv.1] [ Mana Manipulation Lv.10] [Wind Blade Lv.1]
The Roman numerals next two the two skills showed they were at their second tier, meaning they had already evolved. It would take a bit longer for Mana manipulation to get there as well though.
Finally done with everything, he felt that the system was very similar to one of those bad mobile games in his past life. He would spend most of his time collecting rewards, another chunk navigating the menu, and he would hardly get to do anything else. He had already spent so much time just collecting the rewards.
Putting the thought out of his mind, he knew what he was going to do next. Explore!
By going to foreign places and doing new things, not only could he complete some achievements, but he could also take the opportunity to relax a bit. The adventure beyond the wall had given him enough excitement to last for years to come. Although he doubted that he would get much of a break, he would rather not go back into the forest full of strange creatures again.
However, he had one more thing to do before he left. Test out his new skills.
