After making sure the skill was there, he used it on the two creatures in front of him.

Roland frowned. It seemed he had to allocate his skill points now. It would be hard to win this fight without doing so. He decided to invest more into his mana, since he planned to stay as far away as possible from the creatures no matter what. He had to leave the cave, since the phenomenon created by him upgrading his mana might attract the creatures.
'Put all stat points into mana!'
[This will make you go over your current body's limit. Confirm?]
Roland frowned again, but eventually answered with a yes. If the system didn't stop him, he doubted it would be anything bad.
Suddenly, he felt a flaring pain all over his body, like someone just stabbed with a thousand needles. Then, he felt an itching sensation, as if there were hundreds of ants crawling inside his body.

Roland didn't have a chance to respond before his vision darkened and he blacked out.

"C'mon! Hurry up!"
Aaron sighed, racing after his agitated little brother. He could understand Autumn's excitement. This was the last mission he needed to complete to become an official adventurer. He had toiled for months on end, aiming to become a C rank adventurer. They were both orphans, having to resort to becoming adventurers to make ends meet. Aaron and Autumn weren't actually brothers, but they had been brought to the orphanage at the same time and were very close, so at some point, it just felt natural. The orphanage they went to was run by a grumpy old lady, but the orphanage ran out of money. He and his brother had lived there for many years, and didn't want to see everyone at the orphanage separated, so they had set out and earned money in order to save the orphanage from bankruptcy.
With such a huge financial burden on their backs, they nearly had to eat breadcrumbs for a meal, not that they ate much better before orphanage ran out of money to pay for bills and repairs.
They had become adventurers to make money, doing the best paid missions they could do with their current rank, but it was a dangerous job. They had many close shaves, and nearly died at least 5 times!
Eventually, he had become a C rank, and his little brother was following right behind him. This was the last mission he needed to do before he could rank up.
The branch manager of the adventurer's guild in Asdite city said they had high potential, and might become B rank adventurers if they worked hard enough. Asdite city was the city neighboring the one they lived in. Currently, they resided in Estaria, a middle sized city. However, it didn't have an adventurer's guild due to some decision made by the higher ups, so Aaron and Autumn had to go to Asdite city to get their official adventurer license. They had even gotten a cool badge! Aaron always kept it pinned on his green coat, in plain sight so everyone could see.
'After this mission, we can form a party with the others at the orphanage,' he thought excitedly. If he could, he would've already done so, but a party needed to have at least 3 C ranks or 1 B rank to create one. The others at the orphanage that wanted to help were only D ranks or E ranks, and there was only one other C rank besides himself. His name was Faloan, and he was turning 16 this year.
He seemed to have a small grudge with Aaron and Autumn, since although he and his little brother became adventurers after him, they had developed much faster than he had. Moreover, Aaron was only 13, while Autumn was still 10!
However, since they had similar goals of restoring the orphanage, they looked past small grudges like that and decided they would form a party together so they could do harder missions when his brother ranked up. With 3 C ranks and about 5 D ranks, they would be able to do some of the more basic B rank quests, which still paid a lot better than the C rank ones.
"Hurry up, Aaron!" He heard a yell from from front of him. Speeding up his pace, Aaron caught up to his little brother.
"Slow down!" he yelled,"Those plants won't run away!"
For the last mission before Autumn's advancement, Aaron didn't want anything to go wrong, so they had gotten a basic herb gathering mission to reduce the risk. Although basic, the area it was in had many beasts nearby, so the mission paid quite well despite it's simplicity.
They were now nearing the site of the mission. For this one, they had to collect 30 stalks of mana attracting weeds. These plants grew in places where mana was abundant, living off the mana. For those with a spirit garden, this plant was a nuisance, stealing the mana that was meant for the surrounding plants. However, some people had found a use for these, since if they couldn't store any more mana, they would attract mana into an area but wouldn't absorb it, making one area have a lot more mana than it normally would.
Now, they were nearing the area. Aaron could feel the surrounding area was full of mana particles and wanted to sit down and absorb them, but stopped himself. They had a mission to complete and he didn't want to waste any time.
Finally, they reached the field. It was full of colorful plants, with vibrant colors like azure blue, mint green, and neon orange, just to name a few. Of course, if someone looked at this scene, Aaron and Autumn would stand out a lot more. Aaron with the bright green coat he always wore, no matter the season, and Autumn, named for his orange hair, along with the red streak of hair along the left side of his head. They had come here since the mana was abundant, and these kinds of areas were where mana attracting weeds thrived.
They ran around, watching where the mana flowed to and locating the weeds. Eventually, Aaron had gathered 21 of them and Autumn had gathered 18. It was a bit extra, but they could always sell these or use them for themselves.
Of course, something had to go wrong at the moment. From over the horizon, they could hear an ominous rumbling sound. Suddenly, a group of people burst out of the nearby woods, yelling and screaming.
"There's a beast tide!!!"
"Run for your lives!!!"
They were adventurers, Aaron noted as he looked the the bright badges on their armored, glittering in the sunlight.
As they ran by, Aaron could see Autumn shaking in fear, literally trembling in terror. Beast tides had disasterous effects, causing entire towns to be wiped of the map. The causes of most of them were unknown, but those in the past had usually been caused by a powerful beast moving into new territory and scaring the others away. Knowing they couldn't just stand there, Aaron started to run. Dragging Autumn behind him, who was tripping stumbling at every possible moment, he raced through the flower feild. As they ran, the rumbling sound got louder and louder. They went into the forest, unable to see which way was left and which was right. Their faces were cut by sharp branches and they were tripping over the roots of trees. Suddenly, they crashed through a bush and tumbled off of a ledge!
Rolling around in the dust, Aaron and Autumn huddled against the dirt wall of the place they fell into. It was like a giant ravine, with a long path stretching into the distance. The walls were too steep to climb at some areas and others were covered in moss. Overhead, they could see many creatures jumping over the ravine they hid in, some landing on the other side and others flying overhead. There were basilisks, large lizards with a gaze that could kill (Literally) and Griffins, a flying creature that was a mix between an eagle and a lion.
Suddenly, they could hear a crash as something fell into the ditch. As it turned to climb a wall, it saw them in the corner of it's eye and turned towards them, letting out a loud, high pitched roar.
"Raaaooorrrr!!!"
