The next day Chris was talking to his friends and I kept my distance from everyone else feeling like the conversation actually affected me more than I thought. I wasn’t too sure what to do as I sat at my desk trying to distract myself when I saw the guys who invited me for basketball walked over to my desk. I kept my head down as I recall our conversation and now it felt like I couldn’t trust them if they were to pull me away from the classroom. I don’t think I want to handle any more events for a while and I just want to spend the summer myself then finally enter high school. Entering high school will finally make things better and maybe things will be easier with less childish people around.
“Hey, so you want to join us this time during lunch?” they asked once they were in front of my desk.
I paused for a second and glanced over to see Chris watching us while still talking to his friends. “Um, no, it’s okay,” I answered. “You should probably ask someone else instead.”
