Chapter 24 - Mighty

When I said that, Mai informed me that Eqihr seemed solemn about it. I didn't care about what Eqihr had to say; he needed to be saved, and that goes without question. "Mai, if I die, forgive me. Eqihr has been around when I needed him." Mai stood next to her brothers and remained silent. But judging by her face, it looked like she understood what I said. I turned to the front door and walked outside. As soon as I exited the home, I was spotted by war troops. One of them asked me who I was. I didn't reply, so I put my fist up and showed that I was fighting them. "Pity, we would have let you live." One of them said. I pulled my fist back and released a powerful wind that caused them to lose balance.

When the wind stopped, they came at me all at once. With the new martial arts skills that Mr. Winadow gave me, I dodged their physical attacks. I managed to hit each of them when they came at me. After that, they tried a different formation. But in the end, they were no match for my martial arts. Shortly after their second attack, I would have them on the ground. All of them were seriously injured. I broke a few bones, but it didn't matter to me. I hopped onto a building and looked around for possible locations. Sadly, the only thing I could see was more war troops, hiding people, and debris.

Suddenly, war troops were passing by and they were pushing a cage by. They noticed the injured troops and aided them. I noticed the cages again and saw children inside of them. This enraged me. I couldn't waste time, so I caused a distraction. I crossed my arms outward and threw giant debris onto the ground. The loud noise and smoke grabbed their attention. I quickly used my original ability and broke the locks from afar. This gave the kids enough time to get out and run away. One of the kids noticed what I was doing as they ran from them. I nodded and crawled to the other side of the roof.

I looked at my hand and thought, "Now I have control over my prowess." I liked this feeling. It made up for the lack of ability I had weeks ago.

I then began jumping from roof to roof in search of Eqihr. He should be safe if he still has his sword. As I jumped, I came across many people who were either fighting for the town or hiding.

Finally, I came across the mark of the town. This is something we called the battle line back home. This was the line between our side and the enemy's territory. I could see the town's troops and they were holding the line, they were fighting the siege.

Finding Eqihr was going to be a task, especially since this town is massive.

I looked between every building and open space that I had crossed, and he wasn't anywhere to be seen.

But ten minutes from our place, I saw five guillotines lined up and a line of people behind them. There was one that was wider than the others and had fewer people behind it. I looked around and noticed Eqihr behind the giant guillotine. I stood on top of a roof and looked down at them. The next group of people were up next, and as soon as their heads were lined up, they were cut off. My body felt the fear of the ones who died, their life force reflected off of me, and I was angered.

My aura cast a heavy draft and my white aura became prominent and substantial. It looked like a blaze of white energy surrounding me. The power grew even more and I became aware of my power. Debris began floating around the open space like planets around the day star. I closed my fists and the enemy troops began throwing their attack at me. Most of it included fire, water, energy, and wind. My barrier activated and protected me from the attack. I glared down at them and said, "Burn." The enemies caught on fire. I called this ability "Sunda honō which meant "clear blaze."

Eqihr's face went from worried to even more worried. He saw my emotions through my actions. He remained latent and my power faded away. I looked at everyone and they looked at me with joy in their eyes. A few of them shouted battle cries and called me a hero. raised my fist and the debris fell to the floor.

Minutes later, more troops came from all directions. The former prisoners of Haru untied themselves and began fighting the enemy troops. Eqihr forced his hands together and the dragon-scaled sword was summoned. He began bringing down every enemy troop he saw. Some of the troops jumped onto the building I was on and attacked me.

My martial arts skills helped me knock them off the building. I jumped to the ground near the main fight and took down the enemy troops. Eqihr pierced the ground with his sword, and the remaining enemies were stunned and were buried in the ground. "It's over, for now," Eqihr said aloud. I walked to him and asked him where Mai's father, Sammi, Qui, and Kalen were. He looked at the floor and said, "I'm sorry, but they died."

"What do you mean, they died?" I asked. He said that three days after I fell asleep, the fight for Haru became more intense. He finally said that the scaled sword that led this attack killed them while they tried to move areas. "Goshi, listen carefully. You can't let his kids know." I couldn't do that to them. I asked Eqihr why I would do that. He placed his hand on my shoulder and said, "He wanted it that way."

I backed off and told him I wouldn't do that to them. Eqihr should know by now that I am not that type of person to hold secrets so tightly. I opened a portal to our place and walked through. He followed me through and remained silent.

I walked to Mai and her brothers and said, "Eqihr has something to tell you."
