Jumping down from the tree branches above our heads, a gigantic tiger came before us. Most of its attention was on Crystal because it saw her as another competitive beast intruding on its territory.
The tiger, or sabertooth, was massive; its height was about five feet tall, standing on all four. It had two large fangs in the corner of its mouth, and periodically you can see small flames coming out of its nose. The stripes on this tiger seem as if they are glowing, and we could tell that it has plenty of energy in its body. The tail was not for decoration as it was as long as its body. We knew it used it as a weapon too. The claws on its feet are at least six inches long capable of killing any beast that threatens it.
"Roar"
It let out a devastating roar as it prepared to pounce on Crystal.
"Crystal, let me handle this one because I think I have found my perfect battle beast."
"Joe, are you sure it looks quite strong."
"I got it, bro, I can tell how powerful it is, but I feel that this is the battle pet for me."
"Have at it then. Crystal back off so that Joe can handle it."
"Yes, Master"
Crystal slowly backs away while Joe moves forward. To double-check things, I inspect its stats.
"Inspect"
Name: Flame Tiger
Lvl: 11
Breed: Sabertooth
Hp: 400
Mp: 250
I told Joe its stats so he can be careful just in case something unforeseen happens.
Joe looks at the tiger and proudly asks it to submit to him. The only response it gave was an angry roar, and from that, Joe could tell that it understood him, if only a little.
The flame tiger and Joe square off as both were looking for openings in their opponent's defense. Joe's hands lit up with bright yellow flames as he got into his fighting stance. At the same time, the flame tiger covers its front claws in bright yellow flames. The only difference is that its flames look like they are turning golden as it flickers.
The flame tiger sprang into the nearest tree to dive down on Joe. Joe sees that the power of this hit is too strong dodges to his right as he sends his left leg at the tiger's side. The flame tiger was ready for this and caught Joe's leg with its tail and lit it on fire. It picks Joe up by the leg and prepares to sling him into a nearby tree.
Joe notices what the tiger plans to do and sends his mana to his leg to protect it from the tiger's flames. Joe flips while rolling through the air and bounces off the tree, flying back towards the tiger. He was shooting two fireballs as giant as basketballs at the left and right sides of the tiger. Joe sends his right fist towards the tiger's head.
The flame tiger jumps up to dodge Joe's attack and aims its tail at Joe, who is still in the air. Hitting Joe on the back, he falls to the ground hard, creating a vast crater. Jumping out the cavity, Joe launches himself at the tiger in rage as the flames on his hands have a slit red tint to them.
Joe shoots two fire arrows at the tiger and manages to hit it on the left shoulder. The flame tiger, upset at the pain, sprints towards Joe for a frontal clash. Joe knows that he could not have a head-on clash with the tiger sides under it and sends his fist covered in flames into its stomach. The flame tiger flies into the air from the hit and rolls around on the ground in pain.
Joe looks at the tiger feeling triumphant when the tiger opens its mouth and spits out a strong flame blast. Caught off guard, Joe uses his flame thrower skill. Flames came spewing out of Joe's hand as the two flames fire for supremacy.
This became a battle of attrition between the two of them. But it was easy to tell that the flame tiger was losing because it was running out of mana first. The tiger's flame kept getting weaker and weaker until it went out completely, and Joe's flames covered it.
Joe then stops his attack and walks towards the now tired and injured tiger. He bends over and asks once again for the tiger to submit to him. The tiger roars and turns its head, waiting for Joe to kill it.
Joe then starts to beat the tiger in the head until it gets dizzy and asks it again to submit. This vicious cycle kept on repeating itself for the next 30 minutes before the tiger finally gave up and submitted to Joe. Still, the tiger chose death over slavery.
Joe was so excited, and he told me he got the passive skill battle pet, but it only has one slot, and he is not sure it can level up. I was a little surprised because mine is the tamer skill, and I tame two beasts on the first level.
"System, why is it that Joe's skill is different from mines?"
"Host because you have the Mana Diamond and your system is different, you get certain perks that others don't. But Joe can evolve hit battle pet skill into the tamer skill with time and hard work."
I told Joe what my system said to understand that there was hope for the future to improve that skill.
"Bro, I don't even care about that, but I finally got my battle pet. I bet he could take Crystal and Sakura at the same time."
"Master, let me teach this big cat a lesson so that Joe doesn't get full of himself."
"Crystal, do not worry about it; he was joking, and I know that you can take this tiger."
"Joe, Crystal says she take it any time. Hahaha"
"Hahaha" "I knew Crystal was still the best."
Joe began petting her head while we wait for the flame tiger to recover.
