Chapter 23 - Grocery Store Lockout

Taking all my beast troops into the space pendant to rest and recuperate, we prepare to enter the grocery store only to find that heavy objects barred it from the inside. I thought to blink inside but gave up on that idea as I couldn't see inside, and I didn't know what would happen if I blinked into an object.

Joe was about to force the doors open we heard voices from the inside, and it didn't sound like a few people but a lot. Joe looks at me with surprise because of the number of survivors it sounds like were inside the grocery store.

"Bro, I think there are a lot of people inside. Do we break down the door and enter or be cordial and ask for an entree?"

"Let us try and be civilized first, but if not, we can enter either way because we are not sleeping out in the city at night."

"Dwayne, maybe they heard something from the government or have some information we can use, so try to get along with them."

"I know, Michelle, that's why we will talk it out first, but in the meantime, let's put all the beasts and weapons away. We might scare them or cause a misunderstanding if they see us as hostile."

Waving my hand, I send Crystal, Sakura, Blaze, and Snow into the space pendant. I also put away my destroyer spear but left Joe and Michelle with their items just in case.

Bang

Bang

"Is anyone inside? My friends and I would like to come in."

...

Bang

Bang

"Can you please leave? There is no more food for anyone else?"

"What did you say? Of course, there is more food; it's a f*****g grocery store, dude. Don't force us to bust in and open the door."

"Joe, calm down; they are probably afraid."

"We would like to spend the night here, and that's all; we are not interested in the food here, so can you please open the doors for us?"

"There is no more room in here; go somewhere else and look for refuge."

"I think we should let them in. We are all humans here; it's not right to leave them out there with those monsters."

"B***h, if you want to let them in so badly ill send you out there with them and see how you like it."

"Bro, it sounds like they are not going to let us in, so we might as well enter. Because of all the noise we are causing, it's bound to be zombies heading in our direction now."

"I see your point, Joe; let's get inside before more zombies head this way."

Joe and I take one side of the door and force it open even with all the stuff stacked up behind it.

Boom

All the heavy stuff holding the doors falls over, and we can finally see who we were talking to before. It was a young man looking to be in his mid-twenties with decent looks. He seems well kept, especially for someone going through the apocalypse. There was also a crowd of about 30 people behind him with mixed emotions on their faces. Some had fear; others looked nervous; even a few had excited expressions on their faces.

Before we could get a conversation going, the young man had wind elements gathering around his hands. This action didn't scare us as we all could feel that the number of elements he was collecting was too small to threaten us. All he did was make Joe excited about fighting another evolved human.

"Joe, don't kill yet because I have some questions for him after."

"Cool, bro"

"I don't know how you guys think you are, but I have powers, and if you don't get the hell out of here now, I will kill you."

"Hahaha"

"Joe, why are you wasting time with him? Deal with it quickly, and ill close the door in the meantime."

Fire covers Joe's hand, and the heat is so intense that all the people in the store get scared and back away further from Joe and the young man. I head towards the door to close them. As for putting all the heavy objects back behind the door, I left them to the side for someone else to do.

Joe walks closer and closer to the now terrified young man with a small smile on his face. I swear he's enjoying messing with him too much but whatever I will never hinder my bro.

Feeling fear as Joe was staring at him the young man tried to escape but before he could make it to the mow closed doors Joe was behind him. With a chop to the neck, he falls unconscious and all the wind elements around him disappear.

Walking by the unconscious young man I look towards the crowd of people to get some answers to what's going on.

"Hey my name is Dwayne and I have some questions for you. I need one person to tell me what's been going on since the apocalypse started and how you all ended up here?"

The crowd of people gets more nervous and scared but one woman walks forward and tells us her name. From the voice, I knew she was the one advocating for them to let us in. She was a caucasian woman with long brunette hair. Her clothes were a mess and her face was a little dirty but it could not hide the beauty that she was. She had on office work clothes and her shoes look like the heel was broken off.

"Hi my name is Sarah and I can tell you everything that has been going on in here because I was here since the world fell apart."

"Ok, Sarah, go on and tell us what you know, and don't be afraid to say anything no one here can do anything to you with us around."
