She was hard to keep a hold of honestly, she practically broke though me and went straight to the woman, she was just as surprised as me. Jass started to speak, so loudly we all heard her if there were any other students at the door they were right to thick if there was augment going on.
"You made us sit here in silence for twenty minutes thinking we were getting questioned about a possible shooting but then you go all nice mode 'will you like to be part of the aots?' " Stating her anger with every word.
The woman, still not knowing her name, tried to open her mouth to speak but did not follow through with it.
I got up after Jass tried to calm her down, getting her into her seat. She was having none of it.
It was like she couldn't even hear me, all in her own little world. Thomas looked like he was gonna intervene. The woman quickly gestures to him to stay in place.
I could make him quickly say, "Miss. Jones--". Getting out of Jass.
"Jones, well Jones why do you have a whole wall of degrees and PHDs hm?" asking her question sharply. Only then I looked at the left upper corner of the room, then I realized Jass wasn't just mad. She wanted answers, and I would be wrong if I didn't want any at all myself.
I stopped talking, stopped doing basically anything. I don't know why, only then I realized how stupid I am. The cop, this woman, this room, all so suspicious and I never looked into it. The reason Jass was so sinlinet , she knew something was up.
The room was so full of tension, at this point I wanted to get to the bottom of this. First with these people then with the huge thing at school. I was hearinging Jass still demand for answers, this time Miss. Jones acts as though she is getting some words out.
I walked, well stepped over to Jass and resisted my hand on her shoulder, we were around the same height so it was easy. She paused her rant about how we should leave and talked to different people about this situation.
She looked at me, waiting for her chance to continue the rant.
"Jassmine" I stared, she almost instantly looked calm and ready to listen to me.
"Bryan" she replied, her gaze told me alot.Like she was being serious, we rarely called each other by our first names. We always stuck to nicknames.
I gusterd my free hand to the sofa we were sitting on. Then to Jones and Thomas, "Maybe we can sit, and 'chat' about this okay?"
She knew what I meant when I said chat, it would be easier for us to get answers and to find out what the hell is going on.
It's already 6:12pm, we started this at 5:42pm right after school. We got 10 minutes to find out what they were hiding.
Me and Jass were sitting on the sofa once more, the plan was not full proof but it was a plan. First, step was to simply apologize, I was the first to speak.
"Miss.Jones was it?" asking in my most respectful tone. I hope it doesn't sound fake..
"Yes, Mr.Taylor?" her voice sounded calm, almost robotic, like she practiced that sentence forever.
I quickly nugged Jass, she got on it faster than expected 'cause she apologized.
"I'm so sorry for my actions earlier, Miss. Jones, aswell for you Thomas." It wasn't her words that would seal the deal, it was her tone. She sold everything perfectly, her voice soft and angelic.
Thomas was relaxed, but keeped good posture in his chair.
"Thank you Miss. Taylor for your apology" her voice still calm and robotic.
Then it dawned on me, Thomas never called this woman by her first name, always so formal. Maybe she was friends with his boss, or someone who just demands respect.
Or maybe she is the boss…
But how would she just be a counselor?
Whoever she is though, she sure doesn't crack easily. There are many things we still need to figure out, like the A.O.T.S situation.
Even if we survive this 'interview', we need answers and to get them. We needed to get her talking, and I found one.
"Miss.Jones, i'm sorry if I sound inpatient but may we start" I pushed on, trying to get this over with, it was taking too long.
"Second, we gotta get back home by 9:00pm" Jass lied, I sometimes wonder if lying was one of her skills. We had to go home by 11:00pm, but she said nine. She ment nine minutes left till we left. We're running out of time.
"Um, s-sure. Do you have any questions about the current situation at hand?" She stuttered, now our chance. I looked at Jass and back to Jones as fast as I could. She got the memo because she was glaring at Jones.
She was glaring so coldly, like a cat would to a dog. Then smirked, a 'I know you know' type of smirk. This wasn't time yet but soon, soon we can do it. Jass knew this, she was just testing the waters a little bit.
Now Jones was still trying to stay professional, her wall was cracking. Thomas looked baffled but only showed it in his eyes, carefully gazing from Jass to Jones.
Just as the plan was supposed to go, first we break down these walls, second we get the answers, and third we walk out without them breaking us. All under ten minutes.
"Actually, we do have a question." I started, making sure she heard every word.
"Yes B-Mr.Taylor?" Jones stutterd again, while losing some professionalism.
Halfway there.
I leaned in, resting my chin in my hands. All while giving her a glare of my own, I made sure she understood what it ment, 'You can't hide'.
The horror on Thomas' face told me multiple things, like one our whole act scared the shit out of him.
Two, he's a bigger part of Jones' plan than we expected. Now I shift my focus onto Thomas himself, Jones was so close to snapping Jass could do the rest. I softened my glare and smirked at him, making sure to look docile as possible.
He must have been new here, I would have recognised him if he wasn't.
"Thomas" I stared, looking him in the eye. "Are you new here? I have never seen you before."
He seemed startled by the question, expecting are more straight to the point? Anyway he bounced back quickly, too quickly.
"Actually I was her-" he couldn't finish his sentence because I finished it for him. I was planning on cutting him off from the conversation all together. We got eight minutes.
"Let me guess? 'Actually I was here but went out of town'. Listen here I got no time for this k." I was getting inpatient, we only got eight minutes.
Thomas was shocked, maybe I guess right. I turned my head around and nodded at Jass, she was still breaking Jones not with her words but with her eyes. She looked at me and made a face. A face saying 'I'm ready, let's do this!'
It was my time to shine. We're getting answers.
