Chapter 16 - Soaring blue

In the middle of a crowded street, people busily walked all around as carts hurriedly drove in different directions and traders shouting out their prices. In the middle of the crowded street shadowed by buildings made of grey stone bricks Keir, Jin, and Elric walk on the stone road.

The three walked till they reached the entrance of the city from where they boarded a rattling carriage to the hunting grounds.

They reached the vast gates hunting grounds where the same guard stood with a new one laughing as they sat on the same logs of trees.

The last time Keir and Jin left the hunting grounds, there were two guards and one of them corruptedly attacked Keir and Jin out of greed which didn't turn out the best possible way for the guard.

While the other one, the moment he saw the two boys his emotions dried up, and his expression went glum as the broad smile immediately washed away.

That old guard didn't dare to look the two boys in the eyes as they showed their tokens.

They entered the hunting with the same rotten smell of blood and flesh and as they walk crunchingly on the soil, bones of humans were scattered all over the forest.

Surprisingly, none of them had any pieces of metal equipment that should be there, which gives rise to the thought of the greed humans possess. They would not respect the belongings of the dead if there are no such rules.

Keir heard a familiar gushing sound of water when he saw the traumatic scene.

It was the same waterfall from where they had entered the trial but this time Keir and Jin didn't feel the threat they felt last time. This time, they don't think that entering that cave once more would harm them in any way.

Either way, Keir and Jin did feel a bit uncomfortable.

Elric casually led them into the dark cave behind the waterfall and they saw the huge dragon.

For the two boys, the dragon had the same unbearable presence and its fierceness was intense as ever. Though they didn't feel like they were going to die, they still contained uncomfortable expressions anxiously.

In the presence of that being, Keir and Jin saw the enormous gap between them that could not be filled in just a few millennia.

Without pausing, Elric led them behind the dragon and he started climbing the giant tail with spikes the size twice a man.

The two boys looked at each other with wide-open eyes as Elric gestured for them to get on it as well.

They reluctantly got on the scally tail and started climbing behind the dragon as they grabbed onto the spikes to help them climb on the smooth surface.

Keir looked at Elric who was swiftly passing one huge spike after another with barely any effort then he looked at Jin who was struggling to climb because of the smooth surface.

Not long, Elric had reached the neck of the black dragon while Keir had reached the back of it and Jin was somehow hanging onto the waist of the huge dragon.

The difference between each of them was very long.

As the two boys kept climbing, Elric had already reached the enormous head of the dragon and it slowly started to move.

It slowly flapped its wings while lowering its body.

The two of them knew what was going to happen.

They tightly grabbed onto the spikes and suddenly a huge pressure pressed them against the scally body of the dragon.

The dragon jumped and it was rapidly flapping its enormous wings at a certain rhythm.

They unevenly managed to grab on to the dragon as it burst into an abnormal speed.

Considering its speed and size it was unbelievable that a creature was avoiding monstrous threes and boulders with minimum movements in its wings.

The reptile-like body help it move swiftly between the obstacles as it slithered out of the cave and they felt the cold chilly wind of the high altitude and the almost clear blue sky patched with fuzzy clouds.

The dragon had launched itself into the air with a final explosion of its wings as it flew towards the sky.

Moments later two found themselves frozen in time as they stopped in mid-air. It was a beautiful sight of blue sky and a division of the vast land covered in green trees. It was not too late when they felt themselves falling with the dragon towards the grounds.

The dragon let itself loose until the moment it was about to reach the ground, it made a huge blast of wind with its wings and they soared gradually into the cold and chilly air.

The strength of the wind was so much that the two boys could barely take in any air in their lungs.

The monstrous dragon continued to soar through the cloud-patched blue sky as the two boys continued to climb it to the top where Elric sat.

Elric visibly sat on the dragon's head with his legs folded and he laid back on the huge dragon's head with his arms to support his body.

To Elric, that wind and movement at that speed felt nothing.

Jin however, managed to climb over to Keir's level of height while Keir was busy balancing his strength on that ride.

Neither of them tried to speak in that huge gushing noise of the wind.

They were using all their strength to hang on the spikes and their muscles had been strained to the point they had started to ache and stretch.

Keir was helpless, none of his summoned armies could help him in that kind of situation.

They were so busy with their body that their mind had overlooked the perception of time and before they knew it they started to lose their altitude

The dragon had landed with a huge tremble on the surface of the earth as a cloud of dust formed from the ground and vanished into the air.

The three got off and the dragon started to slowly flap its wings while another huge cloud of dust formed covering everything in dust.
