Hours after the massive war ended, Keir found himself trapped beneath the corpse he used as protection from the hard hooves of horses.
Keir managed to gather some strength to remove the shield of flesh. After he got rid of the corpses on top of him his eyes finally touched the light.
He saw the sky had turned red and orange and patches of bright clouds covered parts of the sky. As he moved his body throbbed in burning pain and his stomach felt numb yet it felt like it was being stretched. Once again even though he could barely move any of his limbs, he pulled out a glass bottle filled with a bright red potion of healing.
He gulped down the bottle of potion and the throbbing sensation felt like it was slowly vanishing with each throb.
Keir looked around and saw the vast sea of corpses that was the result of that massive war. Their armor shone in an orange light with the color of the sky.
"Have I been too reckless this time? O' Abel?"
Keir calmly asked as he looked below at the condition of his body.
"Is that something to ask? Keir? You go to fight a general without even thinking of the consequences. There could be nothing more reckless than this. Your legs have been shattered to the core and your muscles torn apart by blunt hits. You have clearly overestimated yourself!"
Abel replied with a subtle tone of annoyance.
Keir felt his heart dampened by Abel's words but he had to accept them because those were undeniable facts.
While he sat on the vast battlefield surrounded by corpses. He saw a couple of figures stabbing the dead soldiers and looting off the dead while they laughed at how valuable things they had found.
Keir was in a troubled situation. He was in no condition to fight nor protect himself with equipped men.
He closed his eyes and immediately summoned his warriors and beast and climbed onto one of the dark smoking beasts. As he climbed onto the beast, those figures noticed him and the summoned warriors and started dashing toward him.
The beast he had climbed onto started running by his intentions while the others simply ran while surrounding them.
The figures stopped chasing them after a while but Keir didn't stop. He now needs to find the people from the Hunlun faction. First, he planned to return to them but he felt that he would be quite embarrassed showing his current condition to them.
He could not walk nor breathe properly will all those injuries.
Thinking about it Keir felt a burning negative sensation inside him, he felt angry for the fact that he was way too reckless and got himself severely injured and was too embarrassed to show it to other people.
Keir stopped his beast and took his baggage and threw it on the corpse-filled ground. He gritted his teeth and dropped off the beast and crawled toward the baggage and brutishly took out all the things from the bag.
He went through each of the things and found a few potions and armor plates that he took from the people he killed on the training grounds. As he went through each of them he found one shining red healing potion. It seemed to be a medium-quality potion. Without a second thought, he gulped all of it down his throat.
Slowly he felt his energy and strength returning to him and the remaining pain gradually fade away.
Keir took one of the beasts as support and tried to stand on his legs but the immense pain that hit him made him fall to his knees.
"A-Abel! I-i can't stand this pain nor can I use my legs, what should I-i do?"
Keir said as his expression distorted in pain and anguish.
"Merge with the people you have killed or more specifically. 'Merge' with their soul to strengthen your soul. By strengthening your soul, your body will grow internally and externally though there are consequences haha."
Abel ended his reply as he veiled a mystery on Keir's mind.
"What consequences?..... Abel? What consequences?"
A fear dangled above his head with the lack of Abel's response.
Keir closed his eyes and found himself surrounded by almost complete darkness. The light from the lives of the souls Keir had claimed throughout previous events.
He saw a few more souls of the soldiers but the one soul that caught much of his attention was a soul whose light was brighter and warmer than the other souls.
Though he could recognize whose soul it was, he assumed it might have been the man who accompanied the ferocious general that came to attack him but he died by Keir's sword passing through his skull before he even got to reveal his strength.
Keir had never seen such a light from any other souls he had claimed. Not from the group of adventurers nor the pack of beasts in the training grounds.
Keir created a desire within himself to absorb the white liquid-ish souls and spread them throughout his body and he slowly put that desire into action as the warm and bright soul lost its shape. The soul seemed totally liquid and it was now flowing towards Keir's mental figure.
As the bright liquid soul entered his body- he felt a warm healing sensation sweeping through each muscle fiber in his body. The sensation was very similar to when he drank the bright red healing potion but it was much more intense and warming.
His heart felt like it was being filled with very light and warm liquid.
Though the pleasure of being healed didn't last for much longer as a sharp pain pierced through his mind. He felt a ride of emotions as he witnessed the tragic life of the soldier. His life was not only tragic but harsh and cold filled with deaths. The soldier had spent most of his life in the harshness of war. Just like everyone, Keir saw his ambitions in the palm of his hand but then he saw himself in front of the soldier's vision throwing a black flaming sword.
It was the same as always. The same pain that every person he has killed has gone through. Every person's life has claimed to include tragedy and grief with only a few drops of happiness and pleasure in them.
