Petrified, Keir stood in front of the dragon with each fiber of muscle in fear. He was regretting ever going after the lone beast. Keir followed the beast, and it led to his probable demise.
He had his eyes wide open, staring at the still dragon in front of him. Keir remembered all the moments of his life and thought to himself. Was it worth it? Was I too greedy for power? Should have I spared the people I killed?
He searched for the answers, but his brain refused to answer them. Keir was terrified, petrified, but he had to do something or else it would mean his death.
Keir closed his eyes and took a deep breath and exhaled. He let his body loose. He was, of course, afraid to his bone, but he had to move if he wanted to survive. In the darkness of his mind, he thought
'The dragon is so huge, if I move it probably won't even see me, yes I will escape this place and go to the guild and have a delightful meal while talking to Raj, Jin, and Mira about my adventure. Yes.'
Keir silently imagined a fortunate situation to get rid of the fear, even if just a bit.
Keir gathered his strength for a run from that place, but then a thought emerged in his mind.
'If it hasn't noticed me yet, then should I not just wait and see if this dragon leaves without noticing me and I can be safer? If I burst into a sprint, it might see me moving and come after me.'
He decided to wait for a chance for him to escape. He waited an hour. Nothing happened, absolutely nothing. Even the dragon didn't move. That one hour turned into two, the two turned into four and so on the day ended as he stared at the holes in the crest of the cave-like structure.
His legs felt restless, and pain started to arise after each hour. He slowly sat on the ground without making a single noise. The night passed by before the morning came. Keir noticed the still dragon was breathing and exhaling and when it exhaled a black smoke was emitted. The morning became evening, and the evening became night.
The night passed, and another day arose and both Keir and the dragon didn't move, Keir thought to himself 'Will it not move? if it will not move then should I take this chance and run away?' but after thinking about it for a while, he threw the idea away as he had seen the dragon move at the beginning and it might again.
Three days had passed and his meeting with the man in the woods had passed already.
Keir had eaten nothing ever since he devoured those flesh of humans. He was beyond the point of starving. He could barely keep his eyes open, let alone move.
Slowly, he closed his eyes, and he fell asleep. In the darkness of his mind, a voice called him out.
'Keir! you are in grave danger right now.'
The voice said, and Keir recognized it. It was Abel's voice. Keir ignored the voice and continued to sleep over it as if it was a dream.
The darkness was lifted and a light shone in his eyes giving a subtle pain in his head. Voices called his name out, familiar voices. It took him a few moments to get used to the light and see. However, what he saw was a bit shocking.
Jin, Raj, and Mira sat on the ground and were calling his name out with worried expressions. Keir looked around and saw that they were in a deep, dark cave.
"Wa-hat are you doing here? You all?"
Keir asked in confusion. He was very confused about what was happening to him right now. All the events that happened to him in a brief time were very unbalanced and unclear.
Just after he woke up, he heard an unsettling snarl and growls from behind. His heart disinclined and felt heavy with fear.
As his friends looked in the noise's direction, their faces turned from worried to horrified. Looking at the faces of the three friends, his heart felt even heavier because of the disappointment that came to him.
OH my f*cking god, what the hell's been happening to me? Keir disappointedly thought in his mind.
The three of them had immediately equipped their arms and got into their fighting stance.
Looking at his team Keir was reminded of the group of people he killed and the guilt he felt. He got up and noticed that his leg had been completely healed and no scars remained and he felt energized even after not eating for several days.
Keir got up and saw big and long reptile-like creatures. They walked on their four limbs and had a long thick tail and their bodies were covered in scales along with small horns on their head. They were half the size of a man and as long as a full-grown man along with the head was of a dragon small, and smoke was emitted from their nostrils, and looked like smaller dragons but wingless.
Keir unsheathed his sword and moved to the front and shouted to his teammates. "JIN! Beside me, MIRA! Behind me and Jin and RAJ go find a boulder and climb on it."
Jin and Mira giggled reminding Raj of what had happened to him during the Kobold Lair. Raj looked confused and looked around in a hurry while the other three were pushing off the Kobolds.
Raj finally found a high ground behind the three, and he climbed on it with all his effort.
Keir and Jin attacked the smaller dragon head-on while Mira stabbed the dragons from behind Jin and Keir and Raj. He shot the small dragons with his bow and arrow even though the arrows were not piercing the smaller dragons, but were being deflected.
As for the moment, Raj was being pretty much useless until the arrowheads of the arrows he was using lit with a silver shine, along with the shining arrows pierced through the small dragons and killed them in an instant with a shot through their head.
The dragons never seemed to end and the formation that Keir had created was being broken and the horde of small dragons was splitting the team apart alone.
Keir was barely surviving by jumping from one place to another, where no small dragons lay, but they followed him. Keir sliced them on his run, but they kept coming non-stop.
Jin was struggling even more than he could slice off multiple dragons with a few slices in a single second, but his attacks seemed to get weaker and his speed was decreasing, as the dragons were no more being cut apart.
Mira was skillfully executing techniques with just a spear, although the number of small dragons was overwhelming her.
Even though Raj had a high ground, the small dragons started climbing there with their sharp claws and strong limbs, Raj would obviously have a tremendous disadvantage with close-ranged attacks as he used a bow and arrow for long-range.
