For the next two days, Theodora didn't find Gerald waiting for her on her way to Mr Collins or anywhere near his nursery. After that abrupt exit, he disappeared into thin air without any trace. She was angry at him for his behaviour that day. She told herself to not think about him, but every now and then, she found her mind running towards him.
She wanted to know what happened to him. Why he acted so strangely that day, and where was he all this time?
Her worry mixed with her anger made an unpleasant concoction and the main receiver of that was Bertha. She became the target of Theodora's heated glares, verbal abuses and tantrums. Her anger was so evident that it didn't pass unnoticed by Lady Cordelia.
She caught Theodora shouting at Bertha for a nuisance thing. Not liking her behaviour, she reprimanded her but to no avail. Theodora stormed away after yelling at her mother to the point that it left the poor lady shocked out of her life.
