Gerald reached his hut at the time of the evening to find it empty. He recalled Oscar saying something about taking Isabella somewhere peaceful to spend some time with her. They might be enjoying their time at some isolated place, and Gerald was glad that they did. After all, Oscar had to break the news of why Lazarus was there for Isabella.
He hoped she would take it well.
Gerald was quite in a mood these days and after his arguments with Theodora, it worsened. He sat with closed eyes for a long time battling with the uncontrollable thoughts on his mind. His peace was disturbed when his ears caught the footsteps approaching the hut.
The twigs broke under the feet, and that was his clue. Gerald's eyes snapped open, and he instantly had his guard up. He walked out of the hut, ready to face any adverse situation. But when he saw a familiar face staring back at him with uncertainty, his shoulders relaxed, but his face held a look of pure shock.
