The following weeks, Sophie and April kept Brie company with physiotherapy, while Lucan concentrated on his work.
''Tch, and he said he was my guardian, disappearing for three weeks without a word.'' Brie muttered to herself.
April cleared her throat making her presence in the room known. "He has a lot of work that he must have ignored all while you were unwell" She said trying to persuade Brie.
"Of course, he has such a big company and even bigger problems why worry about little me" Brie scoffed.
April decided to ignore her and talk about something else. "When do you think you can be discharged?" she asked and just as she expected, Brie's face became brighter.
"I can walk fine now without clutches, no more pains and I'm perfectly stable so soon, probably this week." Brie said grinning from ear to ear. But a thought that came to mind slowly wiped her smile away.
"Are you worried about not seeing me?, forget it. I'm stuck with you like glue until you get tired of seeing me" April said when she noticed the change in Brie's countenance.
"Where do you think is my home? " Brie asked . She had been occupied with leaving the hospital and having not seen Lucan that she totally forgot about where to go after being discharged.
Sophie seemed to be her only family and she had been really nice to her and then there was Lucan who claimed to be her guardian but although he had been really patient and nice to her, She could still feel the restraint between them. It was like an invincible bouncy wall that pushed you back with any effort you make.
"Of course with me " Sophie said as she walked into the room with shopping bags.
Brie looked up at her. "Your house?"
Sophie shaked her head in disagreement. "No, our home. Anyway enough of that. how about we take a look at what I got" she said and handed a bag to Brie.
Brie took the bag and looked into it. what she saw surprised her and she looked up at Sophie who gestured to her to take it out.
Brie carefully took out the black lace up dress and a pair of cute pump to match. She looked at Sophie stunned by the gift.
April who understood the meaning of the gift already started clapping and jumping in excitement. meanwhile Brie was too stunned to react.
After a few seconds of intense thinking Brie finally formed words. "Does this mean.... I can really go home? like I'm getting discharged and it's not you trying to sneak me out of here?" She said slowly trying to digest her own words.
Sophie who found Brie's reactions funny couldn't help but laugh. "Lucan is taking care of the discharge procedures, we can leave when he comes".
Brie now understanding the facts ran right into Sophie's arm and Hugged her. "I'm so happy " she whispered with a smile of satisfaction. And immediately without another word she rushed into the bathroom with her clothes to change.
"Help me to pack her stuffs and take them down to the car" Sophie said to April who immediately did as she was told.
A few minutes later Adam walked into the room and without a word he took Sophie out of the room leaving April alone.
*********
Outside the room at an empty corridor, Adam kept walking hand in hand with Sophie until he was sure no one was around.
"Is something wrong, you look worried " Sophie asked as she straightened the crease on his forehead with her fingers.
"There is a problem with the collection we sent out for production in Paris, The production team have called for you to settle it personally". Adam relayed the news to her.
Sophie sighed deeply . " I have to take Brie home today and the work in Paris can't be delayed" she said slowly
After a moment of silence Adam had an idea but it was going to take a lot of convincing to get Sophie to agree. "Let Lucan take her home"
"Are you crazy? " Sophie interrupted.
"You're not seriously suggesting this to me after discussing with Lucan, are you? . How could you even think of a thing like that after what his mother did." Sophie asked in disbelief. She'd do anything else , leave Brie at the hospital, take her along to Paris but to leave her in Lucan's home was never an option, she'd never do that.
Adam smiled at Sophie's reaction which was exactly as he expected.
"Are you laughing at the situation or at your crazy opinion " Sophie glared at him.
"What other choices do we have?, You plan to leave her at the hospital and break her heart, Did you see how happy she was to receive that dress and how many times she had asked you when she could be discharged. Or do you plan to take her to Paris and fly her back every week for check ups and psychological exams?. Who else will dedicate their time to take good care of Brie except Lucan, Or did you never trust him this past year?"
Sophie face palmed herself and started pacing back and forth. how nice it would've been if she or Brie had other relatives in the city, but Adam made a lot of sense and she knew it . Although she trusted Lucan, she wasn't sure just how much she trusted him with Brie.
"I know you're not completely satisfied with leaving Brie at Lucan's home but I trust him, one hundred percent and I'm sure that no one can take care of Brie better than Lucan" when he saw Sophie glaring at him he smiled sheepishly realising his mistake .
"And of course you my love,no one can take care of her better than you" he said.
Sophie nodded in agreement. " I'll just have to trust Lucan, but only because you trust him enough".
Adam pulled her into a warm hug and smiled. " Just wait and see how things play out".
