She slowly opened her eyes to the bright rays falling on her eyes from the opened curtain. she blinked a few times to adjust to the brightness 'where am I ' she thought to herself.
She tried to sit up but her body felt very heavy, so she just looked around the big room to notice the yellow drapes hanging on the window, a large couch by the side, a small table and...
The continuous beep. she turned to her right to find a machine and several tube attached to her body .
"Brie ?"
She slowly turned her face to see a man standing at the side of her bed .
"Are you okay ? can you see me, please blink if you can hear me"
Brie did as she was told and immediately the man rushed to her right where the machine was and pressed a buzzer continuously
When there was no response he ran towards the door and opened it screaming "doctor! doctor! .
In a few seconds he arrived with a group of people all dressed the same.
The elderly man who seemed to be the oldest or the head of the group walked up to her and asked the same question the man before asked.
"Are you okay ? Can you hear me, blink if you can"
just as before Brie did as she was told
A few minutes later after the machine and tubes had been detached, the gray haired man checked her heart beat and pupils
"that's better we can have a conversation now" he said with a smile
"I'm Doctor Whitehead, don't worry it doesn't have anything to do with my hair" he gestured to his gray hair which made the other doctors laugh
Brie couldn't help but smile, she didn't have the strength to laugh and the continuous pounding on her head was killing her
"Are you feeling better now?" the man before asked again
"I have a horrible headache right here " she pointed at the back of her head . "And who are you" she asked the man who had been in the room earlier.
The way he had behaved before and the worried look on his face made her unable to control her curiosity, did he know her? are they close?
"You don't know? " Dr Whitehead asked
Brie shaked her head
"what about you, what is your name " he asked
Now that is a good question 'what is my name' she thought to herself. She had not thought of addressing herself or didn't she have one , but everybody has one right?
the overthinking suddenly brought the sharp probing pain back to her head.
"ouch!" she grimaced at the pain and shaked her head gesturing that she didn't know
"Don't try to stress yourself, you've been sleeping for almost a year so it'll take a little while, just rest and I'll be back later." he said and turned to leave
"Mr McCain may I see you in my office " he said before leaving with the others .
Now it was only her and the man from before oh the doctor called him Mr McCain.
"Do you really not remember?" he asked her with that same worried look he had on his face
She shaked her head
Remembering was difficult, the more she tried it was as if something in her head was keeping her memories away from her. always responding with a sharp pain whenever she tried to reach there.
The man gave a smile that did not really reach his eyes " it's okay you should rest now, I'll go and meet the doctor"
"okay " she said and tried to lay down but it was difficult
he walked towards the bed and helped her lie down and without another word he left.
