"So Debby wants to divorce you after all the hard work, i begged her to do in your life? I thought you had changed. She is coming over to London and I am accommodating her, so she can have the baby here. Just giving you the heads up. Love Mum".
The Tex message was sent the next day after he left the house. He wondered who told his mother about the fracas. Would it be Debby or his father?Which hard work did Debby do in his life? He scuffed arrogantly. The marriage was barely six weeks old, so where is the hard work? He questioned laughing sarcastically until he began to ask himself pertinent questions.
His mother mentioned a Baby?
What baby?
What bloody baby is she talking about?
He laughed out loud sarcastically until gradually it began to click in his mind. Nausea, reactions, smell, sickness, unprotected sex! ADEBOLA CHRISTOPHER ADEDOTUN is going to be a father?!!!!!!
It was surreal at first but realizing that he was Debby's first, he couldn't question it and she has been in his house for over 6 weeks, of which she had never had her monthly flow of blood since they started making wild and passionate love. He did not realize he was running down the stairs like one on a marathon until he was downstairs to meet the mother of his unborn child and he was excited about it.
Knocking on the door erratically,
Shade opened and it seemed like she was already retiring for the night but it didn't bother Adebola for a second as he pushed the door, not casting a single glance at her. He entered the room to find Debby drinking goat meat pepper soup with Fiona by her side assisting to feed her.
Shade locking the door turned back only to see Adebola sitting on the side of the bed where she laid previously. She didn't know how to evacuate him and he was not ready to leave from the looks of things. Judging by the way he was smiling, one would think he just won millions of dollars for free.
"Fiona is this soup appealing to her taste?" Adebola asked smiling.
"I think so sir. It's very peppery though and this is the first food she is eating without throwing up since last week Wednesday". Fiona responded.
"So sorry my love, you would be fine" Adebola assured her out of the blues and he could feel all eyes in the room on him including Debby who almost choked on the spicy soup.
"Madam sorry. Please have some water." Fiona comforted her by rubbing her back.
"What is that inside the water?" Debby asked pointing to a slice of lemon inside the glass of water that Fiona was offering her. Adebola heard her voice for the first time since he came home and it was husky, hoarse probably from so much crying. He felt emotional towards her and without realizing it, he rubbed her back too.
"It's lemon ma, it will reduce hyper salivation for you ma." Fiona replied her.
"Thanks Fiona. You are far too kind" Debby appreciated her.
"Thank you Fiona for looking after my wife very well" Adebola joined.
"Thank you sir. Thank you ma. It's a pleasure. Are you through ma?" Fiona asked Debby who was pushing the remaining soup away.
"Please still have some soup. It will help you feel better". Fiona pleaded
"My love please eat, you need your strength" Adebola encouraged but Debby scowled at him as though he had horns and this startled him.
"What about the meat ma? Please eat some." Fiona urged her.
"Yes baby you need to add a little bit of protein" Adebola added again unable to control himself which earned him another scowl.
"Please eat the meat ma. At least eat one". Fiona negotiated.
"They are too big Fiona". Debby argued.
"Okay ma, Let me cut them to tiny bits for you."
"Fiona let me do that. It's late you should rest." Adebola intervened.
"Thank you sir but It's no bother sir"
"I insist. Let me continue from where you stopped" Adebola stated
"Okay sir. Thank you sir. Miss shade please come with me so I can take you to the very next room. You would rest well there and be more comfortable ma. I will also send your fruit salad to your room"
"Thank you Fiona for really caring for everyone.Babes, please eat more. I will see you in the morning. Goodnight Debby.Goodnight sir." Shade said excitedly as she exited the room with Fiona.
Adebola was the happiest man on earth watching them leave as he diligently cut the meat on the plate for his wife. Taking a step further, he stretched out a piece for her to eat and was again startled by her wild reaction as soon as they were alone.
"Mr Adebola's drop the fork and leave this room at once. I am not interested in being your wife secretly. Let's stick to the contract sir." She growled.
"Am so sorry my love. I know you are angry for all I did and I am deeply sorry but you should know that we are way past contracted spouses right now" Adebola responded.
"Mr Adebola, I know nothing so please keep the pretending to yourself. I don't want to be your wife in secret and very soon, I may not even be your wife in the open. So stop with the niceness,no one is here to compliment you."
"My love I am so sorry for hurting you but i am not doing it for show.i care about you my wife. Please have some meat, we will talk later". Adebola pleaded.
"It's as if you want to see crazy Adebola. I will just shout rape right now and everyone will come rushing into this room this night". Debby threatened.
Adebola didn't know he was laughing outrageously by her outburst until she asked him "What is funny Adebola?"
"I miss you"he replied honestly and she hissed dragging the meat from the fork with her bare hands, tossing it inside her mouth.
"Gosh you are so beautiful." He complimented and She hissed again as she chewed the meat.
This moment meant the whole world to him as he gazed at his wife and he vowed in his heart that he would ensure she doesn't leave him for anything or for anyone. He will protect his wife and his unborn child at all cost.
