Chapter 33 - Power tussle

They had me cornered with Gilgamesh still healing from its wound. The stalls had been destroyed when we crashed into them and from the fresh stocks laying out on the ground, it led me to believe people had been here minutes before our arrival.

"Well demon, this is the end of the road for you," the flying man with the trident said to me before releasing bolts of lightning to which I created a dome of wind to shield us with.

Seeing as his attacks were not getting through, he looked back to his comrades in rage, "Well don't just stand there. Attack!"

"I'll be back," I whispered to Gilgamesh before taking to the skies leading them away from the market.

"WILL YOU RUN FOREVER!?" Callipso raged in anger.

"No, but his aura was intimidating and I've never fought that kind of demon before. Maybe flying away would help me come up with a plan to defeat him," I quivered, struggling to avoid getting hit by the bolts blasted towards me.

"THAT IS THE DUMBEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD SINCE MY CREATION," his voice rumbled within me. It wasn't uncommon for us to have arguments every once in a while, but during fights it was distracting.

"Well, what do you suggest!?" I let out loud, flying round a mountain with the trident man hot on my heels and the vampire running on the ground below at top speed.

"STAND AND FIGHT!" he ordered to which I obeyed, halting midair.

"I see you're tired of running. Be a good demon and go back to your maker in shreds," he heaved, pointing his trident towards me.

We stared at each other floating mid air with the vampire looking up at us from the earth below. The sentry guard must be the only human in their group for he wasn't present at the showdown.

"No more running," I whispered before blitzing into the flying man, sending him crashing into a mountain. He smashed through it causing a shockwave which destroyed the terrain below. A force like the one I showcased should be enough to destroy anyone, but it looked like all I did was knock him back.

As I hovered over the terrain, a spear stabbed me in the back, bringing me down with enormous force. It was the man who looked like a sentry guard.

How had he reached us so fast and jumped so high up into the air to get me?

The vampire used this opportunity to run into me as we engaged into a hand to hand combat. He was experienced in this sort of battle for he overwhelmed me with moves and skills I didn't know was possible. I wasn't the best at attacking, however, I had learned a thing or two from Kenzie, defending with the same knowledge I had garnered on that island.

The man with the spear attacked me again but this time I was ready increasing my reaction time and moving out of harms way before they could reach me. It was two against one, but I kept them on their toes.

Gradually increasing my speed, I matched the vampire in raw strength and power whilst defending myself from the jabs of the sentry. This was the first time I was engaging with such ferocity but my life was at risk here for a reason I had no knowledge about.

Do they really think I'm a demon, I thought deeply, resorting to clearing the air before things would get out of hand.

"I'm... not... a... demon," I reasoned with them, but they were too blind to see the truth to my claims.

"That is what a demon would say," the sentry retorted doing a flip midair before swiping the spear in my face causing me to dodge it effortlessly.

"But that is what I'm telling you, I'm not a demon. Would a demon try to talk you out of violence?" I noted expecting a rethink on their part.

I could feel the vampires moves slowing down as I reduced the effort I had infused into fighting, but I had made a terrible mistake, for no sooner had I let down my guard than a dangerous hit from the sentry sent me flying across the field.

They were not going to believe me until I was dead that was for sure, so I looked at the vampire pleading with my eyes but he was not having it. His eyes were covered with a black film with the veins around it tightening, he was not going to listen to me, he was blinded with rage.

"You have to listen to me and stop this madness. I believe I am not your enemy," I pleaded once again when a crackle was heard from a distance with a gleaming light travelling towards me to which surprisingly I could see in slow motion.

Squinting my eyes to look through the blinding light, I saw the trident man moving at the same speed with the light! This was certainly new to me.

"Enough!" the trident man bellowed, giving me a punch which sent me flying across the field with unbelievable speed. I didn't have enough time to react for as soon as he had done that, a spear pierced into my chest, pinning me to the ground with the vampire speeding towards me before holding my hands together.

The three of us tumbled together with my momentum gathering speed from the punch as the ground broke under our weights before bringing me to a halt.

"I'll end this with one blow," the trident man said, jumping into the air with lightning bolts shattering the landscape.

"Now would be a good time to show up!" I screamed trying to wrench myself loose from the grip of the vampire and spear man.

"I THOUGHT YOU WERE ALL ABOUT PEACE," he said with an air of indifference, the trident man raging towards me with natural disasters.

"Come on, just show up already."

"YOU NEED TO SAY THE MAGIC WORD," he chuckled.

"Callipso, now is not really a good time to joke about things," my voice protested with the trident man heading towards me, his eyes glowing white and lightning crackling around him.

"Please!" I begged him, the trident man in range with his bolts.

"NOT THE MAGIC WORD, BUT IT'S WORTH SOMETHING," the rumbles in me got louder as I felt my body being possessed, slipping me into the passengers seat.

"HERE WE GO," he said louder this time, breaking away from the holds of the two men before spiralling into the incoming man. My body glowed a bright gold when he took over as immense power rushed through me destroying the terrain in which I had laid in.

When the creature came into my range, I knocked him across the cheek with a single punch, dividing the ground on which we stood on.

I was at my most powerful in this form. This was Callipso joining himself with my true power. This was our true strength.

The creature smashed into a mountain bringing it down to a rubble before I levitated into the air ready to go find Kenzie.

"Let's find her," I rejoiced at our victory.

"I STILL HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS WITH HIM," my hand pointed at the shattered mountain.

"We don't have time for this Callipso, let's just go."

"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND DO YOU? THAT RIGHT THERE IS OCEANIA AND THIS IS MY CHANCE TO END HIM ONCE AND FOR ALL."

The rubbles began to move out of the way with the creature crawling out from under them. It really did look like Oceania which I had seen in the vision Callipso had shown me in the forest.

"You're trying to tell me that you want to pick a fight with Oceania, god of the seas. Are you mad!" my voice quivered in fear.

Oceania was said to be one of the most ruthless battle gods in the field and it wasn't said for fun, he had the feats to prove it. He was as powerful as my father, Mephistopheles and Uranus the sky god.

"SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE RIDE," he said with conviction.

"There would be no place to sit on by the time you both clash together. He is just as powerful as you are, let's just go..."

"WE'LL FIND YOUR LITTLE GIRLFRIEND WHEN WE'RE DONE HERE," he interrupted.

"Please let's just go find her. We can get back to your battle later..."

"SILENCE YOU FOOL. BE QUIET LEST I EXPUNGE YOU FROM THIS BODY."

"You forget that you are in my body and not the other way around. You live inside of me and you pay rent to me lending me your powers when I need it. Don't get it twisted," the boldness in my voice surprised me, however, I was not going to let him bully me into submission.

"Hello Callipso," Oceania chuckled lightly. "How long has it been?"

"I'M GLAD YOU REMEMBER ME MORTAL GOD," he responded bitterly.

"Why wouldn't I do such? You almost tore me apart last time we fought."

"DON'T FLATTER YOURSELF OCEANIA. YOU DIDN'T STAND A CHANCE THEN."

"What about now?"

Callipso bawled clapping his hands together, "YOU STILL DON'T STAND A CHANCE."

They both had a staring match before an aura of immense darkness covered the entire field.

"Is this your doing? Do you intend to destroy everything like you did the last time?" Oceania said through gritted teeth.

"THIS ISN'T ME," he pointed out. "THERE'S SOMEONE ELSE CLOSE BY."

The wind started to get violent as massive tornadoes were now in view. Everyone looked in shock at the number of natural disasters showing up in a nearby valley. Tornadoes, lightning, earthquakes, everything horrible seemed to be happening at the same time.

"We need to go there..." Oceania started off as Callipso flew straight for the scene.

"Here we go," the vampire said before running in suit with the sentry and a flying Oceania.

By the time we came into view, there lay on their knees in a shattered field Trina, Indigo, Harry, Olly and two other creatures which I immediately sensed to be vampires.

"What are they doing here?" I asked absentmindedly.

"FORGET ABOUT THEM, ISN'T THAT YOUR GIRLFRIEND IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT STORM?" Callipso observed.

She had markings all over her body with an iron armor all over her. She did not look like the cheerful Kenzie I had come to know and love, instead she was more like a monster.

"Kenzie!" I exclaimed but she was too far gone to hear me.

"Lookout!" the sentry screamed out running towards the humans on the ground. Following his actions, I saw hundreds of lightning bolts being sent towards their way. There was no way my teammates could survive that.

"Callipso..."

"ON IT," he answered before blitzing to them at top speed, carrying the six of them at once to safety.

When I had made sure of their safety, I blitzed towards the lady warrior defending myself with lightning against hers. She was different this time and it was dangerous to downplay her strength.

She was a monster, like me.
