Chapter 38 - The portal

As the battle raged on, I found the warriors dividing into teams of seven with the leaders of each respective groups taking on the gods who had their powersets — Uranus, Callipso and the demigods faced off against Jaruma; Mephistopheles, the demons, Vladians and their dragons against Dromedipectus; Senile, Mars and the Vampires battled against Drake; Zemeta, the living trees and the Scythian warriors go up against Mindra; Gagontae and Oceania teamed up with the giants against the disgruntled god, Aosh; Raïs, White stag, Moon wolf and its pack joins forces with the mages and Xaj's against Vilga, leaving Aurora, Tallily, the goblins, monks and fairies to go up against Kamalu.

The field got busier with every warrior putting their all into this battle. The earth split open as the skies darkened with different colors of lightning crackling across it being sent down to the ground in destructive waves.

Lava spilled across the vast field, tornadoes, floods, ice, shadows, gleaming swords, flame spitting dragons, conjured irons and hailstorms were all I could see in the clash. By this time, I knew all mages and humans were dead for no mere mortal could withstand the battle of the gods and survive.

One swipe of her sword obliterated more than a hundred thousand warriors leaving the dragons without any Vladian to ride them to which they took off in fear. Jaruma was a beast to contend with and her raw power showcased why she was the head of the gods on the field.

"We need to restrain the beasts," Lady Camilla grunted before being kicked away by Mindra which sent her flying across the field.

"No!" exclaimed Mephistopheles. "Don't stray from the plan. It's not yet time."

"When then!?" Krakoa a demigod asked in terror.

"When she withdraws from the battle," Tallily rejoinders pointing to Jaruma.

I watched them battle against the elder gods with their numbers getting smaller and smaller with each passing hour. They were waiting for something, I could not pinpoint what it was, but I had a feeling they were waiting for some kind of signal.

For many nights and many days I watched the battle rage on, countless lives being lost and countless more joining in from the human world. There was no telling how gruesome this battle was going to be with the elder gods now becoming more serious than ever.

"RELEASE HER," Jaruma snapped causing Aosh to smile. The god had not smiled since the beginning of the battle and seeing his face lighten up gave me nothing but anxiety.

The gods disappeared simultaneously leaving only a dark ball in the air which appeared out of nothing. It looked familiar to Callipsos birth ball.

"Oh no," Uranus exclaimed with some of the gods looking at the ball in shock.

"We have to stop it..." Mephistopheles started before being interrupted by an explosion caused by the opening ball. A dark hand waved from the object as the shell of the ball dissipated into the air revealing a woman who looked similar to Callipso.

"Zenok," Raïs frowned gripping tight on his sword. "Now Callipso!"

Without waiting for more hints, Callipso blurred to the new creature who dodged his attacks effortlessly before slapping him away.

"Wow," I said in response to how his vision counterpart was handled. "That must have hurt."

"Will you stop saying that?" he retorted angrily. "It's all in the past now. Besides I'm stronger than I was back then."

"I can see that."

"Just focus on watching the vision so you can learn what you need in defeating the threat before you," he grunted.

"Fine," I answered before seeing him go toe to toe with Zenok in the vision.

Their clash destroyed everything around them leaving a gaping hole in the earth. At this point all other creatures were dead excluding the gods, vampires, and demigods. The other mortals alive were Lady Camilla as her Scythian warriors were dead, Moon wolf as his entire pack had been obliterated from existence and White stag who was bleeding from every pore on its body.

"We have no choice brother," Mephistopheles whispered. "They have to go."

"No we'll fight," Lady Camilla grunted as she stood to her feet with the aid of her sword before falling back down.

"Do not be stubborn woman!" Mephistopheles snapped. "Wake up and see that this battle is beyond your capability. Everyone including the giants are gone. Your warriors are gone, the demons, Vladians, fairies, goblins, monks, dragons, wolves are all gone. Take the easy road now and leave."

"Don't tell her that," Reya one of the vampires retorted. "We can still fight."

"Not you too," the dark god bawled, turning to Uranus for backup. "Brother, tell them to head back to whatever they have left."

Uranus glared at everyone on the field before smiling at his brother, "We still have a chance..."

"By my name Uranus look around you!" he screamed in frustration. "All we have now are the mortals with extended lifespans and nothing else. Any more power wave from the gods and they would die!"

Mephistopheles dropped on the ground looking into the purple sky as Callipso and Zenok showed great strength and speed of massive levels leagues above any creature, even the elder gods. Mephistopheles was powerful but not enough to take on the gods creation on his own. Zenok just like Callipso had been created by the elder gods who had combined their powers together. She was a combination of all their powers which would leave the elder gods weakened for awhile causing them to retreat until they had rested and regained their powers back.

"What if we looked for them and fought them in their dimension?" Uranus suggested.

"That was the signal we were waiting for, right?" King Exodus asked helping a Williams vampire to its feet.

"Yes, and now Callipso and Zenok are having their battles we have to go up against the gods for the final strike."

Mephistopheles who had been listening to his brother hissed, "Are you going to give another speech or do I take us there right now?"

"Please by all means brother, take us there for the final battle," answered Uranus picking his trident from the ground.

"Very well," the dark god answered before creating a portal to the home of the elder gods as we all had a glimpse of the seven of them laying on the ground in exhaustion.

Every warrior had lost something and someone in this battle, this final wave was going to give them an edge in some sort of way.

"It is time to save our world," Uranus charged into the portal without looking back at his followers.
