Chapter 20 - Getting Access

~~~(POV: Lyatt Scott)~~~
~~~(Date: February 9th, 2297)~~~

~~~(Time: 1:01 PM)~~~
I take a seat on one of the many chairs that are located on this level of the library. Sarah converted it into her office slash home for her time in Kedwein. "Explain how you know what you know... I haven't told anyone other than Klein of my discovery." She's naturally defensive, and before I can respond. A baby's cries are heard next to her desk coming from a crib. She takes off to the child and lift's... Him, if I remember correctly... Out of the crib. She rocks him side to side as she makes her way back over and sits across from me.
My arms are folded, and I'm looking at Sarah. The best explanation I can give isn't one at all. Completely ignoring her question is the best solution. "The Greedy Goblin dungeon isn't something your baby daddy can take on alone. I can help, but only if you tell me where it is and give me a copy of the key." Some dungeons and raids are locked and require a key. You can get these from specific NPC's, Boss monsters, and quests. To get into the Greedy Goblins dungeon, I need a key that only Sarah can give.
Players have to come to her individually and get the key, and some days she runs out of copies. She has a very skeptical look on her face and is at an impasse. "I do. I know I can trust you? You come to my office, tell me these horrible things about Klein, and demand that I give you what you want." When she puts it like that, I seem like a villain. I sigh and unfold my arms. I walk over to the railing, and I look out over the library. This isn't my decision. It's hers. It'll come down to whether the life of her lover or research is more important.
I don't like using ultimatums and ones that are so personal, but I don't want to waste any time. I need that gold. "Nothing I say will convince you to trust me. You have to make a hard decision. You can either let me help or let Klein die, preserving the secret of your research. I'm only going to wait for 30 seconds before I leave." Adding a time limit with put on some extra pressure. She stays stoic, but as the seconds slowly tick away. I can see her anxiety rising and sweat forming on her temple. The 30 seconds pass, and I stay true to my word.
I start walking towards the exit, and as I reach for the door handle, she answers. "Please, wait... I'll give you a key, just promise me you'll bring Klein back alive... I love him too much to put above my research..." She stands up with her baby in her arms and walks over to her desk. She opens one of the drawers and pulls out a key. She looks at it and squeezes it in her palm. She tosses it to me from where she's at. "Klein insisted... He promised me that he'd be back by now... I never would've..." She does her best to hold back the tears.
In her mind, she's the one that sent him off to his death, but men can be stubborn and prideful. That's what Klein was when he wanted to go alone. "I'll bring him back, and I won't tell anyone about what you've found. That'll be up to you." I can see why she wants to hide the existence of Greedy Goblins. As a researcher, studying such a rare variant of the Goblin race is important. It can make her career skyrocket, but she's made the right choice in trusting me. I'll get this done. I nod my head and make my way out of the library.
Next stop, the Greedy Goblins dungeon. It's not going to be as hard as Grant's dungeon, but it will be longer. There is a lot of goblins in there from what I remember about the lore. I walk the streets and formulate a plan. The edge of the city is fast approaching. I won't need to use my strongest skills, Black Spear and Dark Vines will do just fine. The Boss of the dungeon is going to be a bit tanky, but he'll be slow. I remember the boss's name, Greediest Goblin Ver. If he truly is the greediest goblin I know not. That's not up to me to decide.
