It was a bit of a walk, but I'm closing in on the location. The compass at the top of my player hud is pointing me in the right direction, but I know its location from memory. The Greedy Goblins have taken an old fort at their home, and their numbers are going to be high, and it's going to be about controlling the number of enemies. Otherwise known as Crowd Control. Dark Vines is spectacular for taking care of large numbers and stopping them in their tracks. It's invaluable for this dungeon, and I'm going to be the first person to clear it.
Since Klein is being held as a prisoner, he technically hasn't cleared the dungeon yet. What I'm looking forward to is the sheer amount of gold that these little fuckers drop. Each Greedy Goblin has a chance to drop up to 2 pieces of gold. Sometimes none will drop too, but that isn't an issue. I'll get enough to serve my current needs and expenses. The reason I'm getting gold is to get access to cities that require a fee to enter. Some are pretty expensive. My next destination after this is undecided, but I'm thinking I should get some better gear.
I'm still walking around in starter clothes, after all. The only thing that has changed clothing-wise is Grants Ring. The forest is getting less and less thick, and the path is getting more widespread. I know I'm getting close. I come out of some trees that are blocking the path ahead, and the fort comes within view. It's massive in terms of size, but the Greedy Goblins only use the first couple of floors. The stairs and paths leading to the higher levels are rotted from what I remember about the lore. This was once an important location to the Termal Empire, but not anymore.
The path continues up to the massive gates of the fort, and I follow it. I stand in the middle of the open courtyard and think about how many battles this structure has seen. I pull the key out of my inventory and look towards the towering doors that lead into the foot. I walk up to them and place my free hand on one. The system tells me I can't enter. I chuckle, and I insert the key into the lock. It clicks and a message saying I've unlocked Uncommon Grade Greedy Goblins Dungeon appears. I take a step inside, and the smell of metal and beast fills my nose.
I have to resist gagging. While Greedy Goblins don't do what normal goblins do, they still reek. Add that to the metallic smell in the air, and you got a terrible odor. As I continue walking forward, the massive doors behind me close, and I'm left in total darkness. Dark Vision automatically activates, and I can see as if it's daytime. While I've never personally been in this dungeon, I know the general layout thanks to posts about it. I might get lost here or there, but I'll find my way around. The single path I'm following begins to break off into multiple paths.
From what I remember, each path leads to different parts of the first level of the fort. The inconvenience that I have to face is I have to take one path to rescue Klein, and I'll have to double back to this point to continue towards the boss. The paths that don't lead to Klein or the boss lead to dead ends. Usually filled with monsters. Financially speaking, it's smart if I kill every possible Greedy Goblin I can, the more I kill. The higher my gold earnings will be. This is going to be one long dungeon, but I have my game plan. Clear the paths except for the boss and Klein paths.
Once done, grab Klein, head for the boss, and take him out. Simple. Sarah has trusted me to bring her lover home, and I intend to do just that. I may be cruel from time to time, but I follow through on my deals. When a man says something, his words should be considered a promise by default. Having to say that you promise is a coward's way of avoiding responsibility, in my opinion.
