Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 17: Demon in riddles

ERZA'S P.O.V

It took only ten minutes to tell them everything that she had witnessed through Kedian's eyes. Though she did not say anything about how her sister had screamed about the baby. But as she talked Erza saw the blonde man's jaw get tighter and tighter. By the end she was sure his jaw was going to disentagrate under the pressure. There was a long silence as she finished.

"Fuck." Enson was the first to brake the silence.

"Drewcella?" Kedian said without taking his eyes off of Erza.

"This proves two things to me. First is that she is goddess blessed with visions." Drewcella said. She obviously had no intention of telling all of them what the second thing was.

"What else does it prove, witch?" The blonde growled through his clenched teeth.

"She's not human." More silence followed. "If I had to guess I'd say she's a throw back of some kind. Though I'm not entirely sure what she is. I would have to know her blood lines for that."

"But she does have visions." Erza wasn't sure if Kedian had meant it as a question.

"What does that mean?" El asked as she looked around the room at everyone. Drewcella just nodded in response.

"Fuck." Kedian pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed heavily. "There are many different classifications of gifts that someone can have. Of these foresight is the rarest of them. Enson has a gift of this classification. It's called intuition. But of all the gifts in this classification there is one that is so rare those with it are hunted and wars have been fought over rumors of such a gift. That is Visions. That is the gift that Erza has."

"That's not possible. I'm just an ordinary fourteen year old girl. I don't have any special gifts." She was fighting back tears.

"I think the night you ended up at Blood Moon head quarters you were having a vision." Kedian said. "I'm willing to bet that is why Enson couldn't ignore the feeling that he had to get to the office at three in the morning."

"But I sleep walk. It's normal for me!" She was crying now.

"Erza I'm not trying to upset you. But you must understand that B.M.S. headquarters is a half hour in the opposite direction of your house from here. It would be a whole hour and forty-five minutes by car from your house to BMS. If you were human that wouldn't be possible on foot in one night.

"And the fact is that none of my pack would have let you pass through without stopping you. Which means you would have had to walk around pack territory to the east and then slip through unnoticed by patrol. And walk three hours on a deserted highway in the middle of the night on top of it. Not to mention it was barely forty-one degrees out that night and it was raining. But you were dry as a bone, hypothermic, but dry." He heaved another sigh as if he was preparing to say something else. "Then there is that-"

"Salem is sweet and if I hear one more person call him a demon cat I swear I will start shooting!" Enson growled defensively. Erza knew that the two of them had become friends and that made her happy.

"Demon isn't far off the mark is it, Salem? Or should we even call you that? I saw Drewcella lock you out but you are under Erza's chair. No ordinary cat would be able to do that." The room went dark and suddenly a tall powerfully built man was standing behind Erza. He had long black hair and pale skin. If Kedian and his lackey had mastered impassive expressions this man must have invented them. The silver pommel of a sword was visible under his floor length black cloak. His clothes were from another time.

"Salem will suffice, for now, truth seer." His voice was comfortingly familiar to Erza. Even though it was cold and void of any emotion. "You will not bind me in this form, witch. Seece your efforts they will leave you exhausted and time is running out."

"What do you mean?" Kedian asked calmly.

"Erza must be trained. The fact that your pet there was able to bind me at all proves that she is worthy to do so."

"That will be up to her."

"I am one of five hundred and one of fifty. That I am is all I must be. Can you say the same, alpha?" The tension in the air was suffocating. "To throw away what was lost is to bind to grief that never was. Time is what once lacking. She will train Erza." He was speaking in riddles and it made her head hurt. But oddly enough she understood what he meant about that he was being all he must be. He knew what her vision meant. He was already prepared for what was to come. Kedian growled angirly at him.

"Drewcella? Would you be willing to train me?" She asked the witch, stopping the fight before it even began. Drewcella just nodded.

Salem was scared, though he would never admit it to any one. "The storm that rages upon us soon. Only fools make enemies of allies, Salem." Every one looked at her in surprise. "That we are is not enough. Truer still unto you. Remember that." He lowered his eyes and nodded meekly.

"Yes mistress." Was his only response.

"Kedian what intended for that was to seem in thoughts not revealed? I mean you obviously are concerned about security so what are you thinking."

"We can't let anyone know what you are or what your gift is. This information is not to leave this room. Drewcella if anyone asks, she's a witch throw back and that is why you are training her. For right now she needs to master control of her magic so focus on that."

"Shouldn't she teach me spells for combat and hiding?"

"Control is basic. It does no good for you to know combat magic if you dump all your energy into one spell that does not affect what you are fighting." Drewcella said as she moved in front of her. "You can start by making this crystal glow." She placed a small courts crystal in Erza's hand.

"Okay. How do I do that?"

"You tell me. How do you make it glow?" She nodded at Salem and Kedian as she left the room.

"I'm feeling queasy." El said and stood up to go followed by Kedian.

"You need to eat something baby." The blonde, whose name she could never remember, left almost immediately after. Erza was still focusing on the crystal and barely noticed that Salem was now curled up in Enson's lap, purring softly. Enson was absent mindedly petting him as he thought of the days events as he always did at this time.
