ENSON'S P.O.V:
He could hear beeping somewhere in the distance and a fast paced clicking sound. He tried to call out but felt like he was choking on something. When he tried to force his body to move it felt heavy and refused. 'Relis?' He called tentatively to his wolf. He hadn't felt Relis since he got shot. Had he died? And, if he had, how long could Enson survive before he lost the will to fight? He couldn't think any more. He was tired and weak. He just wanted to hear Erza's voice, to feel her arms wrap around him. Where was she? Was she okay? He could feel her heart beating but could not hear her. He wished he had followed his intuition. If he had Erza would be sitting in the entertainment room with him as they watched a movie or maybe she would be learning a new recipe from Heatharian. Or maybe she would be sitting in the library with Ben discussing her options for college.
But she wasn't here and it was his fault. The noises that seemed to be getting closer were now joined by a soothing humming sound. Normally Enson needed the sound of Erza's soft snores in order to sleep. But the noises around him comforted him in a strange way. He was trapped in a dark casum, but at least he wasn't alone. He felt a hollow comfort in that knowledge. Soon the noises lulled him into sleep.
A familiar smell teased his nose and he woke. This was Erza's scent. He would know it any where and, though it was not in the room, it was coming closer. The same beeping and clicking sounds. But now he could hear hushed voices. "Erza, sweetheart your head!" A woman called out. He could smell Erza's blood but it wasn't fresh. The clicking had finally stopped.
"Will he be okay?" She asked and it sounded like she might cry.
"We don't know." A male voice said sadly. "Andrellious thinks his wolf has lost the will to live. He said that if it is the case Enson won't make it." There was a brief pause in which he sighed heavily. "Erza I know you don't want to hear this but-"
"Don't say it!" Erza wailed.
"You should probably say your good byes." He finished.
"NO!" Erza screamed and he could hear her wails of pain and grief. Enson wanted to reach out and hold her but his fucking body refused to move.
"Come on, mom. Let's give them some privacy." He could hear the grief in the man's voice. Soon the door closed quietly and he was alone with his mate.
'Relis! You fuck face! Erza needs us to hold her! Say something You fucking wolf!' Nothing but a whimper from Relis. 'Fine you whimpering fucktard! I'll do it myself!'
"URGH! GURGLUCH!" He was choking on some large piece of plastic. Now he could feel the wires tangling around him and hear the wooshing of a machine close by. He forced his body to move, tearing at the cords that held him captive.
"DOCTOR!!" Erza screamed and he heard the door crash open. "DOCTOR COME QUICK! HE'S CHOKING!!!" The sound of people rushing into the room filled the air.
"He's waking up!" Andrellious shouted as Enson opened his eyes. "Welcome back to the land of the living baby bother!" Enson saw Andrellious pulling something out of his mouth. He could feel the breathing tube that had kept him alive sliding out of his throat.
"BLURGH!" He rolled to his side and vomited violently on the shoes of a pretty nurse. She didn't even care.
"How are you feeling?" Andrellious asked. In all the confusion he had lost track of Erza.
"Erza?" He called weakly.
"She's here, little brother." Andrellious said as he pulled her to the front of the crowd.
Enson could see dried blood all over her face. He reached out and gently caressed her cheek. She was crying as she smiled at him.
"You're alive!" She sobbed happily and crawled up on to the bed as she hugged him. Enson weakly wrapped his arms around her and felt at peace. He closed his eyes as he inhaled her perfect sent.
"Never again." He murmured as he drifted to sleep.
