Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 16: She's dead

ERZA'S P.O.V

"Kedian! Help her!" A beautiful woman screamed at her from across a flooded river. Her Blonde hair was thrashing wildly in the wind. Her eyes were wet and tears were streaming down her beautiful face. "You have to help her! Please Kedian! You have to help her!" She looked to her left and sprinted into the trees on the opposite bank. Erza was confused. Who was this woman calling to Kedian? And who did he need to help?

Just a moment ago she had been standing in the living room of the pack house with Enson's younger sister as one of his older brother's crawled around the floor while chasing a squealing Nathaniel. A few of his other siblings sat around the room laughing and taking turns being base. Salem was purring in Enson's lap.

Suddenly she felt her body jerk as her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she was violently thrown into this dark cold forest. She instinctively knew that she was not looking through her own eyes.

"Help who? Dresca please come back! I don't understand! Help who? Dresca please don't leave me!" She was yelling but it was Kedian's voice that came out. It sounded desperate, almost like he was fighting back tears. Suddenly she saw a flash of blood red in the rapids. "EL!" Erza cried as she ran along the bank. Her body felt massive and powerful. But no matter how hard she tried she could not get to her sister. She was unable to force herself into the river and unable to reach El from here.

"Kedian! Help!! I can't swim!!!" She was screaming for Kedian to save her as she fought to keep her head above the white water. Erza kept running as she tried to launch her too big body into the water. If only she could get in the river she could save El from drowning.

"I'M COMING EL!! HOLD ON!!!"

"SAVE OUR BABY!!!!" She stopped and looked over to see a large baby carriage just inside the trees and, to her horror, a baby was crying inside. She saw an unknown wolf stalking closer and closer to it. She tried to run for it but the trees seemed so far away. And an invisible force pulled at her, stopping her from closing the distance. 'This isn't real!' She thought desperate to convince her brain that what was happening was not reality. But it did not stop her from feeling horror at what she knew was about to happen to the unknown baby.

The wolf's head dipped down into the carriage and he yanked a small bundle of blankets up and shook his head violently back and forth. Blood sprayed everywhere. The screaming she'd been hearing in the distance got louder as she felt strong familiar arm's wrap around her. She could feel herself drifting away from the terrible scene in front of her. The baby was no longer crying. She saw Kedian turn back to the river where another unknown wolf stood with El's head dangling from its mouth by her beautiful red hair. Her once forest green eyes now dull and lifeless. Erza was pulled into an empty blackness.

"Sweet child. Please, you must open your eyes. Enson is trying to wake you." The voice was the same one she always heard when she had nightmares. But she was awake, wasn't she? At least she had been.

She opened her eyes to see Enson leaning over her. She could feel his arms wrapped around her and felt safe here as always. Another warm hand was on her forehead. She looked and saw a very concerned looking Drewcella.

"Put her on the couch and step away, Enson." A deep male voice said. But that idea had no appeal to Erza as she was shaking uncontrollably. As soon as he stood up she saw who was talking. Andrellious was standing by the couch.

"Erza! Are you okay? What the hell happened?" El screamed as she rushed in dragging Kedian behind her. Tears started to run down Erza's face.

"El!" She screamed as she started to kick and struggle in Enson's arms. He set her on her feet and she launched herself into El's arms. She clung to her older sister as she sobbed. "You're alive!' Her voice was muffled by El's shoulder.

"The fuck Erza! Of course I'm alive. Can you stop squeezing the hell out of me." She stepped back and looked around. Nathaniel was struggling against Victor's hold as he screamed bloody murder, Salem was still as a statue at Enson's feet, and everyone else was watching in shocked silence. What had actually happened to her? She couldn't understand how she had ended up in Enson's arms.

"Drewcella! My study." Kedian said gruffly as he turned back towards the stairs. She had to ask the question that was eating at her mind now, or she would never know the answer.

"Who's Dresca?" He stopped and turned around.

"My study. Now." He snarled quietly. The two men from the other night at the bar both stopped and looked at her. The older one's face was a perfect representation of shocked horrorified grief. The younger of the two was impassive as stone.

She followed Kedian with Drewcella, Enson, the younger of the two blonde men and El close behind. She stepped into the study as he was stepping behind a very large mahogany dest. He pulled open a drawer and pulled out a gold picture frame. He stared at the photo for a moment then passed it to her. She took the picture gently.

"What's this?" She asked. There was no rage on his face anymore just a cold mask as impassive as the blonde man that now stood to his left.

"You asked who she is. I thought I ought to show you. That is Dresca." She looked down at the photo and saw a much younger Kedian with a beautiful blonde woman draped around his shoulders. To her surprise it was the same woman from the nightmare. She was smiling and very happy but it was definitely the same woman.

"Well I think she's in some kind of trouble." Erza handed the picture back to him and it vanished into his desk.

"Not possible." He growled.

"Are you two still so close that she would reach out to you if she were? You keep her picture so you must have felt something for her. Aren't you going to ca-"

"She's dead, Erza!" He snapped angrily. "Has been for fourteen years." He stared at her coldly as realization settled in. "Now, my question is, how the hell do you know about Dresca?"
