Grey entered the dining hall of the children that had not started to use magic, the dining was a lot grander when compared to the one in the orphanage in Boon city. There were already a bunch of children of different years in the dining hall eating their dinner, they were seating in their age group, it was literally written in places which age group should go where, the military and its rules. Grey noticed where the line for serving food was and went there.
"Hi there young man."
A middle aged man greeted Grey as he was getting his food, this man was clearly one of the kitchen staff and he was the one serving the food. The man had some of his brown hair was starting to grey out, he seemed like a normal human who worked in this place.
"I am guessing you are new in this place, I am Mr Ruov, in charge of this kitchen."
"So which city are you from?"
"Grey Gram, I am from Boon city."
"Boon city? That is far centre of things, I heard they found a Tier 5 talent in the city neighbouring Boon city, maybe you heard."
"No, I did not hear. Thank you for the food."
Grey left very quickly because Mr Ruov looked like a gossiper and he was not in the mood to indulge this type of fellow.
'Tier 5? I wonder how often you find such type of people?'
Grey then noticed the food that was served to him, and he was happy to find out this type of food was more nutritious when compared to the food that was served in the orphanage in Boon, he was a firm believer in that a healthy body meant a healthy mind. He might not have been much of an exercise person in his past live, but he did some work outs in his home gym, to keep healthy. Grey went to seat in the region that was reserved for the 5 years old children, the children were seated in scattered seats, it look that no one had found any new friends.
Grey even saw the well mannered child Sophia seating alone, she tried to signal him to come and seat with her but Grey ignored her and went to seat alone, seeing that Grey did not want to seat with her, she just continued to seat alone. Grey surveyed the place as he was eating his food.
'The gender of the children is practically split 50:50, it looks magic talent does not favour a particular gender.'
As Grey was finishing his nutritious meal a male child sat in front of him.
"Hello there. I like you grey hair! I wish I had grey hair like you."
Grey just observed this child that was seating in front of him, blond hair that is unruly and not neatly done, he had blue eyes like Grey and most people that live in this kingdom. Grey did not respond to the child which somewhat made the child speak more.
"My name is Sheldon Shaw. I am from the village of Shaw and have magic talent tier 2, they said if I worked hard I could become an officer. Hey which city are you from? What tier of magic talent do you have, you cannot possibly have a higher tier could you?"
'The Genki girl type, but in male form. Tsk.'
The kid kept rambling on, which definitely annoyed Grey. Grey hated this type of people the most, they are more likely to get illogical and irrational as clearly shown by this buffoon in front of Grey. Grey would rather seat with Sophia than this idiot, at least that girl has some senses that seem to work, if she saw the annoyed look on Grey's face she would act accordingly and keep quite. That was the reason was trying very hard to stifle the giggles that were coming out as she saw the annoyed look on Grey's face until he left the dining hall.
Grey lay in his bed when he got back to his room, he wanted to sleep so he can be fresh tomorrow, he wanted to go the library. Today's opportunity was wasted because he fell to sleep during the afternoon, but then there was knock on his door. Grey opened the door to find a kid of similar age to himself, the kid had black hair cut short and neat and was wearing glasses.
"Good evening. I am Flynn Lindel and I am your neighbour, I just wanted to introduce myself."
"Evening, Grey Gram. Thank you."
Flynn did not over stay, he left after he got his neighbour's name, what a good neighbourly child, he must have taught well where he comes from. Grey went back to his room where he fell to sleep.
Grey woke up feeling very rested, the fatigue of travelling was gone. He showered and changed into his uniform and then went to breakfast, Grey arrived 10 minutes after the doors opened, thus it was full and very busy. The gossiper Mr Ruov could not get a chance to gossip with the amount of traffic going through. Grey had breakfast alone, it looked like the buffoon called Sheldon Shaw was late, maybe he was sleeping in.
'He is definitely going to get hungry but the time is lunch, he is not suited to be in the military that fellow.'
Grey did not waste time thinking about that idiot, he immediately left the dining hall after he was done.
"Good morning Grey."
As he was leaving he happened to meet the good neighboured child, Flynn Lindel.
"Good morning Flynn."
Grey did not say anything after and left to the library that he planned to go to, but he realised that he and Flynn were going in the same direction.
"Are you going to the library? Me too, can we walk together?"
Flynn asked if he could travel together, Grey just nod to both question.
"I come from the city of Lindel, you where do you come from?"
"Boon city."
"I was the only child they found in the entire orphanage with magic talent, you?"
"Two."
"Just two, huh?"
Flynn finally realised that Grey was not really into small talk, thus he stayed quite for most of the journey, but Flynn tried one last time.
"Hey Grey what magic talent are you?"
"I have tier 4 magic talent, you?"
"I also have tier 4 talent, what a coincidence."
'I finally made a breakthrough.'
Flynn finally understood what type of person Grey was, he was only interested in things that he was interested in and did not indulge people, and he was clearly interested in magic like him.
"The mage that came to Lindel made me want to try magic, the male mage that came on stage actually used a tier 1 spell [Fireball]."
That interested Grey for sure.
"How was the spell, anything that was interesting?"
"The air around the spell actually distorted, I guessed the temperature of the core of the [Fireball] spell can reach hundreds of degrees celsius. That was really cool."
There was a light of wonder in Flynn's eyes as he described his experience to Grey, Grey was also clearly interested.
"At least you got to observe a tier 1 spell, I only got see a tier 0 spell [Burning ember], it was small flame on the mage's hand. I agreed with the mage's thoughts when he said the spell had little use in magic combat."
Grey and Flynn talked about magic until they reached the library, Grey could see that Flynn was very matured even though he behaved like a child when it came to magic. This lead Grey to think that maturing of these magic talent children depended on their magic talent tier, Sophia is a tier 3 talent and she is very matured but she is not as matured as Flynn, but when compared to the buffoon Sheldon who is tier 2 talent she is more matured.
'Maybe that is the reason that 1st Lt Sergei and 2nd Lt Davidson did not find me super weird for being so matured given that I am only 5 years old.'
Grey and Flynn kept conversing as they entered the library where they split up and went their own direction. The library was very cool when he entered, he looked around to find the help desk and possibly the librarian. The library was large and packed with books, the was a paper smell that was very prevalent in the library, Grey finally found the help desk with a person he believed was the librarian. The librarian was an old woman with completely grey hair like Grey, but unlike Grey her hair showed her age.
"Good morning. Can you please shown me where I can find rule book of this Academy?"
The rule book, is the book that 1st Lt Finn Miller made a joke about, Grey is a person who would like know the things he is not supposed to do to prevent trouble from finding him and how to deal with those types special situations, it is kind of weird he was not a lawyer in his previous life.
"You know, most young kids like you don't come in this place for the first time and request a rule book."
Grey looked at this woman more carefully, he looked at her name plate and found her to be Jenny Kat, which left him without words.
"I just want to understand this place some more."
"Haha, you don't have to doubt it, that is really my name. I am 1st tier mage, my potential was only tier 1, and thus never got reach higher tiers."
That really surprised Grey, he could not see much when he initially looked at her, he finally remembered 1st Lt Miller said. Mages should not be underestimated, Grey could not see that Jenny Kat was a mage because she hid it until she told him. She brought him a big book which was the rule book, he would need half a day with his reading speed to finish it and thus he immediately started reading.
