Grey stood in front of the imposing sign showing the name of Witfield Military Mage Training Academy, the words large words inspired awe when looking at them, there was a certain gravitas that seem to pull and seek attention.
"Grey do you think they will nice in the academy?"
Sophia tried to make conversation with Grey, but was not really interested in speaking to her, thus he did not answer her, the girl kind of expected this from her nemesis Grey Gram, a child's delusions right. Grey went into his thoughts as Sophia and him waited at the gate.
'I wonder what method are they using to make this sign to have this gravitas? This is clearly not normal in Earth's scientific ways. Though it makes you wonder who this Witfield individual is to have such a place named after them.'
"Grey, someone is coming."
Sophia chirped into Grey's thoughts as she informed him that someone was coming, even though he already knew that someone was coming he did not try to put her down, he left it as such.
'I seem to have higher awareness when compared to her.'
Grey made an observation. The person that was coming was a young man who seemed to be in his twenties, he was wearing an officer uniform like that of 1st Lt Sergei and 2nd Lt Davidson, the young man had blond hair that was cut short and walked in the same cadence, like Grey does. The man was slightly handsome, he was smiling as he approached the two children at the gate.
"Good afternoon Grey and Sophia from Boon city. I am 1st Lt Finn Miller and I will be your main instructor this year."
"Good afternoon to you too Sir, my name is Sophia October."
"Good afternoon to you too Sir."
Grey did not introduce his name, because this man clearly knew their identities and he was not for wasting time, though the man did not seem to mind.
"Come on then. The Academy that you are is called Witfield Academy it is split into two academies, one part is for children that have already started to use magic, the other part is for children who have not started to use magic. I will elaborate on that part when we are in class with the rest of your classmates, some children have not reached this place as of yet ,and will only get here tomorrow. I expect to have 25 children in my class so far it is 18 children that have reached this place."
That point seem normal to Sophia, but it surprised Grey, in the whole entire Kingdom there are thousands of children being born every year even if it's a small number that end up in orphanages that would still be large numbers. That would mean a large number of children are eliminated by the test for magic talent just to find a very small number of talented children. 1st Lt Miller who saw his expression did not say anything to him.
'This here is slightly talented, he can see every fine detail and make conclusions on which is the point of my statement.'
1st Lt Miller made his observation on Grey's thoughts, it seems he had seen through his entire thought process.
'Mages were scary, every word that came out of their mouths must be analysed for hidden meaning, these guys and girls should definitely not be underestimated, I would be surprised if I ever meet and idiotic mage.'
Grey also made his observation of the 1st Lt, but he felt that he was let through to see the lieutenant's thoughts as he explained about the where about of the dorms for the boys and the girls to slightly ignorant Sophia.
"Grey, mages are very perceptive and have high awareness, unless you are mage yourself there is very little that can be hidden from mages. What you are thinking was indeed at small test from me to gauge your intelligence and perception, keep up the good work, you too Sophia it looks you finally understand what we are talking about without having to explain it to you, good."
Grey was left in awe with these mages, which made his eyes shine with light of want. Grey was a person who interacted with people with similar interest to himself, he did not like to indulge other people wants, which also attributed to his slight indifference about many things, thus when he found people with similar interest he would lose his indifference and emotions would leak from his face. 1st Lt Miller seeing that he got Grey's attention, he indulged him on some stuff about mages.
"Even the weakest of the mages, Tier 1 mages have very perception and intelligence when compared to normal humans."
From what Grey could guess was that even Tier 1 mages could be similar in terms of intelligence as university Professors, 1st Lt Miller continued.
"Before the world understood what mages were, these people were somewhat considered gods on earth by the masses, these mages regardless of the intelligence, they too thought so in their delusions, it was only much later when mages were understood that people stopped thinking of mages as gods."
1st Lt Miller stopped his explanation there and he gave the two children their keys to their dorm rooms, which not really keys more like key cards, but that used magic.
"I will meet you again the day after tomorrow for your class."
After that he was prepared to leave, but there seemed to be something in his mind.
"Oh before I leave, this is a military academy and because of that rules are very strict, you must pay attention to the rules, kept your uniforms neat, be on time, those type of things. "
1st Lt even made a joke about the rule book size, comparing it to the size of book that captured the religious texts of some eastern empire, which did not get much reactions from the children because they did not get the context of the joke, before he left he made a passing comment.
"The library is open to all students of the academy during the day."
After that, he finally left. Grey and Sophia were left to fend for themselves in this new environment. The two followed the signs to the dorms, Grey went back to his slightly indifferent face whilst Sophia was in awe when she saw the new environment but she tried to keep a straight face but failed miserably unlike her nemesis, Grey Gram, children right? Sophia and Grey eventually split up.
'I will show next time Grey Gram that I too can keep straight face.'
Grey did not care much about a child's delusions, it was hard for him not to see her try to compete with him, but just chose to ignore the situation. Grey went into his dorm room, he found the room to be single room.
'Some modicum of privacy, that is good, a guy cannot jerk off or bring an escort in those sharing rooms, but with this body that might take some few years to happen.'
As stated Grey was a guy who did not get married in his previous life, but that did not mean he was not into things like sex, if you watch as much hentai as this fellow, you too will eventually want to know what the big deal is. Inside the room was a single bed with what he assumed was his uniform placed on top, there was also a table and chair in the room, off to the side was a door to the bath room which had a shower and toilet.
'At least there is some bit of hygiene in this place.'
Grey laid in the bed to process the day so far, but he eventually fell asleep, his child body got tired from the journey from Boon city, unlike the well mannered child Sophia, he did sleep during the journey to Witfield Academy
'Ahh that felt very restful, it is almost time for dinner, I should prepare.'
Grey showered and changed into his black, red and white uniform, he even wondered when they got his measurements, well, we will never know. After showering Grey observed himself in the mirror, even with his average looks he looked very sharp with his grey hair contrasting well with his uniform.
'The uniform does make the man doesn't it?'
Grey checked the time on the time measuring device on the wall, which was practically a wall clock, then he left for the dinner.
