"Fix this as soon as possible, or face the consequence," he said, going out. His green eyes darkened readily to burn everything around him.
Lucette heaved a sigh of relief when the door of the house closed.
Every day he threw these words like daggers at her and went like nothing happened.
He stayed in the house for the past few days making the small house smaller urging her to solve his problem.
She didn't know! How many times she would say it to him to understand?
Hannah's face was all smiles when she noticed the alpha lived there, praising her for making such progress.
If Hannah knew the alpha was keeping her under his watch, what expression she would have?
No one should know the reason, so she let Hannah dream a little.
Acting ignorant was better than blurting everything out. Lucette learned this lesson the hard way.
'Never let people know who you truly are,' she suffered to know this reality.
Trusting someone didn't mean opening her heart to them.
She once trusted a fellow vampire maid, crying because she was new. The stupid Lucette helped her, and they became friends, sharing work, clothes, and secrets. In the end, she ended up in the cell for a week without eating or drinking, whereas her so-called friend got her freedom.
Maybe if their plan worked, both of them would be free. But Jane chose her freedom over her friend.
Her so-called friend was selfish. But at some point, thinking about one's self sometimes made people crush their principles, rules and even love.
Hannah differed from that one, but opening her heart for her seemed far away.
Lucette sighed. Her gaze turned to the kitchen table. Colourful dishes placed over the table, pancakes covered with chocolate syrup, freshly prepared strawberry juice, melted butter, orange jam and toast made her stomach crave for them.
She took a spoon and tasted all her yummy masterpieces.
The sweetness of the food whipped the bitterness of the alpha's words.
She walked to the living room, rubbed her tummy and rested on the sofa.
'If the pack members know that their great alpha became my blood slave, what will their reactions be?' Lucette laughed loudly.
'I want to spread the news for revenge, but I don't want to die.'
Kim never contacted her since that day. 'She didn't forget, did she? Anyway, I will call her later.'
A pierced howl broke in the house. The earth under her feet shook, and the cup of water on the round table moved. Sounds of steps beating the ground, howl getting closer and louder.
Lucette stood up. 'What's happening?'
An attack?
The howls shook her heart from its place. 'Where to run?' she thought. Her heart pounded as the sounds were near. Taking refuge outside the house wasn't an option as the sun rose high in the sky.
Lucette hurried to her room and closed the door. Her room was the safest place for now. A low purr vibrated behind her. As she turned her face slowly toward the curtains, a windy breeze moved the curtain, showing a big round red iris looking at her.
Lucette screamed and stepped backwards, leaning at the door. She tried turning the handle many times to open the door, but it didn't. The monster with red eyes punched the window causing it to shatter in her room making a loud crashing sound. Its long black furred hand came closer. His nails were long and spiralled.
Her body froze looking at the monster's nail nearing. Just a few inches and the long sharp nail would graze her abdomen, the monster removed its hand. Lucette opened the door with shaking hands and ran downstairs.
Where to go?
Tears fell as she ran to the kitchen, holding a table knife with her shivering hands and closing her eyes. The sounds of battle outside transmitted to her place. Her anxiety took over her as her breath quickened.
"Who do you want to kill with that?"
Lucette opened her eyes. Suddenly the most annoying man seemed appealing. Even after he mocked her, she heaved a sigh of relief.
She put the knife on the container behind her. "Is it over?" she asked. Her lips were still trembling. The scary voices outside faded. The smell of blood made her stomach churn.
"Are you okay?" she asked him.
"I'm standing as you see. Why ask this stupid question?" Orson answered, raising his hands and showing his naked upper body.
Lucette pursed her lips, and then she said, "You are injured. I can smell your blood."
"You know my blood's smell?" he said, smirking.
"It smells nasty, that's why?" she retorted. The smiling face of the alpha became grim. Lucette looked away from his stony face as she could feel his piercing gaze emitted toward her.
"Lucette," Hannah called her, hurrying from afar.
Hannah, my saviour.
"Lucette, I mean Luna, are you okay?" Hannah asked.
"Honey, why are you running? Walk slowly." Jordan came tailing his mate.
Hannah faced him and said, "Stop worrying." Turning around, she asked her, "Luna, how are you? You didn't get hurt, right?" she checked her from head to toe.
Lucette shook her head and looked at the beta's pitiful experience while following the alpha out of the house.
"Weren't you a bit hard on Jordan," Lucette asked as they sat together.
"Oh, don't. As my due date neared, he became more insupportable," Hannah said, caressing her large belly. She gazed at her with a raised brow. "Now, you tell me about you and the alpha."
Lucette sipped from the water. "What?" Lucette asked.
She and the alpha were polar opposites. If they put their names together in the same sentence, that sentence would be without significance. They were like bleach and rust removal cleaners. If they mixed them, toxic gas would be emitted.
"I smell something fishy, Lucy?" she said.
"The blood outside," Lucette said, resulting in having a light pinch in her arm. She frowned and rubbed the place.
"Jordan told me Alpha Orson rushed over here when he heard about the attack. Don't you know, he looked extremely anxious? So, for sure something is happening. Tell me the details of your interaction with him the previous days. How was it? Come on, I'm listening," Hannah squealed like a child.
Their interactions were like summer and winter. Never meeting!
"You are just imagining things, Hannah," Lucette said, shoving her nonexistent story about the alpha and her, pushing her to say things didn't even happen between her and that angry man for the hours they spent together.
'I'm fed up!'
