Chapter 37 - Deliberate Attack?

Orson stretched his body after two hours of continuous work. Managing his people's needs and granting them a peaceful life to grow, as well as their relationship with the other races was a tough task.

The werewolves' packs were eleven in total. They were divided between two continents, Ucyan and Plumeria, five packs at Ucyan and seven at Plumeria.

The king's packhouse (palace) was on the Plumeria continent, where the beasts lived.

The Ucyan continent, the largest in both size and population, was a shelter for humans, werewolves, witches, and vampires. The long-life enemies. Many species meant a higher threat lurking around.

After they signed the peace treaty with the vampires, their affair stagnated. The witches were living in isolation as they never engaged themselves with the others, hoping for the others to do the same to them.

Their relationship with humans was based on business. Humans were the weakest race, but how they developed different equipment over these decades surprised them. Their innovations facilitated their living condition. The transport usage opened many work opportunities and experience exchanges between the species.

Supernatural beings bragged about their strength but stayed cocooned in their kingdom while the humans developed themselves, creating weapons to fend themselves.

In the last years, things changed as many pack members went to study in the human world and learnt from them. His pack was the leader in the matter, and the result was that they infiltrated the business field.

Orson leaned on his chair. 'Alpha, can I talk to you?' Jack said through the mind link.

'I am free right now. Come to my office.'

A minute later, Jack went in. "Alpha, did you talk to the Luna about the poison?"

Orson looked at his healer. "She said that she had no idea, as usual."

The only thing she knew was to pretend to know nothing.

"I have the result of the test, and it's amazing. How can someone have this complicated and deadly toxin combined? So I thought of a way... What if she bit you again-"

Orson fisted his hand on the table. "What are you hallucinating about?"

Jack lowered his head. "Sorry for having such an absurd idea. Then can I have a sample of Luna's blood?"

"Do as you want," he said. Jack nodded and went out.

He didn't care what happened to that vampire.

Orson looked back at the file. 'Alpha, an attack at the western border.' his beta mind linked him.

'Who?' he asked, standing from his seat.

'Half-werewolves, big-sized ones, there are many. Alpha, the patrols at the northern side sent a red signal too.'

Both the north and the south, d*** it.

'Go with teams 1 and 5 to handle the western side, order teams 3 to evacuate the citizens near the attack's locations to a safe place, and send teams 2 and 4 to aid the patrols to prevent others from trespassing. Inform the healers to be prepared. I'm going to the north.'

'Alpha, you shouldn't go there alone. We are still unaware of the whole situation,' Jordan cried out.

Orson opened the window of his office on the third floor. 'I will take care of the matter. Do what I said,' he said.

'It's a great opportunity to relieve some of my anger.' With this thought, Orson leapt off.

"Horizon?" he shouted, he was falling, and his d*** wolf refused to comply with him and shift!

One foot before he would be like a flat log, he said, "Horizon! You old f—"

Furs covered his limbs. His bones cracked to form paws, nails, claws, and snot. The wolf's eyes glowed.

He ran toward his house. Two half-wolves clawed the trees beside them, making them fall. One beast neared the white-coloured house, putting its hand in it. While his five patrolling guards attacked the other one.

He sped up and attacked the beast's neck, but it flung its long hand and freed itself. The beasts had a great build. They were tall and bulky, and the thickness of their fur protected them, but their healing ability was slow, and they were less agile in their movements.

'Target their stomach. Attack the same place many times without waiting for it to heal. Focus on that one and let this to me,' he ordered his patrols as they faced a problem handling the beast.

'Yes,' they said.

He ran in a circle around the beast, making the beast enraged, attacking him randomly with its long hands and uncovering its stomach. The brown wolf sprinted closer and bit the half-wolf's stomach; the beast cried and counterattacked with his nails.

The wolf ran backwards, but the nails pierced through its flesh.

'Your skills became rusty, Horizon,' Orson said. And his wolf growled, showing his fangs, then kicked the beast with full body, attacking and retreating many times that the beast swayed and with a push, the wolf jumped, stabbing his fangs into its neck. The beast fell with a loud bang.

His men finished the other beast too. 'Well done,' he said and retreated to the house. Transforming into his human form, Orson went in.

The vampire trembled in fright. Her shaking hands held a small knife. Funny! Orson scoffed and said, "Who do you want to kill with that?"

She looked at him pitifully and sighed, knowing the situation was well handled.

He stiffened when she asked about his well-being, and she smelled his blood.

A surprising thing from a bloodsucker.

Jordan came to his house to report the situation to him, following his mate.

Orson went with his beta. "The warriors controlled the fifteen beasts. Three warriors have serious injuries, and twenty with mild ones. The healers are taking care of them. Ten houses were destroyed, and the warriors vacated the house, so no one was harmed."

Orson nodded. Half-werewolves were an abomination. When juvenile werewolves shift, an accident might occur. They would never transform into their human form. With time, they would lose their sanity. Those beasts lived in solitary. They were hunted usually.

"Don't you find this strange? Half wolves never lived in groups." Orson said.

"Do you mean it's a deliberate attack?" Jordan asked, freezing in his spot.

"Why are you frightened? It's just a guess. Report this to my grandfather and investigate if something similar happens to any of the other packs," Orson said. His beta nodded. Then they walked towards the packhouse.
