The boar became sturdier, it's fur became sharp spikes that stuck out of it's body, the teeth sharper, it's skin harder. I expect to see Alexander at my side, ready to grab me out of there and jump us back to safety, but there are no signs of him anywhere. No rustles in the trees or bushes nor any trace of footprints or steps in the area. I can feel he is somewhere around. After spending so much time in the abyss, it's not unusual to sense energy even when not having a dantian.
The boar spits again, this time, the saliva gains a flexible metallic like appearance. It crackles even faster creating marks and cuts on the trees and the ground below. I instantly retreat, jumping back towards the end of our little battlefield. I think I've escaped, but I'm proven horribly wrong as the boar starts shooting it's needle like fur towards me. I try running, but the spikes are faster than me. They dig deep into my skin as I start to bleed profusely, sadly with nothing to treat it. ' I have to kill this thing quickly, or either I die by the spikes or excess blood loss. The spikey fur on the boars' skin starts regrowing again, and I'm forced to forget my wounds inorder to think of a way to kill it once and for all.
Running out of ideas, I check for Alexander, but he is no where to be found. Knowing I don't have a dantian, he should've ended things by now. But I still have no sight of him.
"Alright you piece of shit, come at me", saying that, the boar charges ahead. There's no time to think, no time to breathe, and no way to escape. My only option is to wait until the creature tires itself out, then I can make the strike. But as time goes on I don't see the chance of that happening anytime soon. I already have five spikes in my right thigh, two in my left arm, and one already heading for the centre of my chest, but constantly move swiftly, I dodge it. The beasts have great stamina which helps them in battle. I think I've seen one like before, they were called blood boars. This was due to the fact that they feed by digging their teeth into the flesh of their prey and sucking in their blood, which has a very high level of Qi, depending on how much of it they consume. Their sturdy skin protects them from other beasts and their spikes prevent them from eating them.
The beasts grows more annoying each passing second. It's taken too much energy from it's companions which it wasn't ready for and starts going on a rampage. It eats tree barks to rocks or even the sand on the ground. 'Could it be drunk of energy?' I ask myself, It sounds weird but it could be possible.
The creature continues to act confused looking for more sources of energy to consume. The wait becomes unbearable, even with my injury I still don't want to fight seriously so I can try awakening my dantian. But the boar is not making it any easier for me. Knowing it can't find anymore energy, it eyes fall back on me again, and I don't need to be warned to know that it's already charging ahead. I've already given up on keeping the beast in one piece so I cross my blades while charging to land a finishing blow. The boar moves quickly, and manages to stab my arm. I groan in pain but It doesn't last long since I use all the force in my other arm to stab it in the eye, just like the other one. It growls, slowly retreating but I don't give it time. I continue my assault stabbing my blades into different parts of the boars' body looking for a way to kill it instantly. It crackles it's saliva whips even faster creating huge marks all over my figure. I'll soon lose consciousness due to all the blood loss, so I put everything into my final attack. The beast does everything it can to remain alive, cracking it's whips and continuously stabbing my figure with it's spikes but I'm unwavering. Unlike it, I'll be healed after this while it'll be rotting in the ground.
With my two injured arms, I grip my sword tightly delivering a final blow to the skull. The creature lies lifeless on the ground as I crawl away from it feeling pain everywhere. I won due to it's frenzied state. If things were different, I doubt I would've stood a chance. I feel the energy leaving the boars' body and dispersing all around me. The energy I felt for countless millennia surrounds me. I try to absorb it, but fail in the process. "Shit, not yet" is all I can say as I start losing my concentration. I look up one last time to see another smiling Alexander waiting Infront of me. I have no strength but I use the little in me to stab his feet. As expected, he dodges and I hit solid ground while losing consciousness.
I wake up, dizzy and tired. I try to seat up right but I'm too weak to lift myself up, every part of my body either hurts or stings with great pain. I was used to suffering in my past life, but atleast we had quality healers who could attend injuries in minutes. I turn my head, only to see an old woman shouting at Alexander. She looks familiar, perhaps she's the one who healed me previously. She yells and yells before looking back at me, It only makes her angrier and she continues to scream at Alexander. I want to listen, to watch him get scolded for once. But I'm to weak to even remain awake and Soo I dose off again.
I wake up finally this time, feeling much better than before, but I become more irritated when I find Alexander at my side still smiling. " Asshole, you would've just made it a little bit easier".
"Where's the fun in that". He says using his usual aloof tone. But since I'm close enough to him, he doesn't dodge when I punch him in the gutt.
