Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4. I'M A PROBLEM

" You'll receive your punishment later you little shit". "What's wrong with looking for food to eat". " If someone of your kind was caught at midnight in the royal quarters, you and your families could be executed for supposed theft". Alexander said looking very serious. For once this wasn't the talk- joke moment we usually had, he looked at me with fear, the fear of someone else finding me instead of him. He could already imagine all the possible horrors that I and my new family would go through. I knew there was no time for jokes, not that I wanted to. Something Alexander said got me irritated "What do you mean by your kind?". I eventually asked and Alexander could see the anger in my eyes. Even in my past life, people used me and looked down on me that was why I was a monster who destroyed anything that I didn't like. Alexander could already see the hate in my eyes and eventually let out an exasperated sigh." Boy, so you really don't know your origin, well I guess you're of age to know your families back story. Come early for your lessons tomorrow we'll discuss it then as for now, hurry back to your quarters before any other guards wake up". Immediately after that Alexander disappeared and appeared on the other side of the court yard it only took sometime for my small brain to realize that he had jumped, within seconds nonetheless. I could only turn away and wait till tomorrow came to find some answers.

The next day, Alexander had baggy eyelids as big as sacs and he looked at me as if I were the cause. I was anyway, as I was the person who prevented him from having a good night's rest. He just let out a sigh and began telling me the whole origin. " So, let's begin" he said with a very loud yawn. " Your parents may have avoided telling you this but it's right about time you knew". He then took deep breaths. "The apocalyptic fight between Jung-Hwa and Kirin left devastation upon the world. People were forced to choose to side with either Jung-Hwa or Kirin and after Jung-Hwa was banished to the abyss, Kirin slaughtered everyone who took his side. He eventually went and killed most of his family members. 'shit, but that wasn't my fault. I would've won if he didn't have that device that trapped me in the abyss. 'sigh', my failure led to the downfall of those who stood beside me'. I thought to myself feeling terrible. I had never taken the fight seriously, I underestimated Kirin and now this was the price I paid.

"But there were branches of his family that managed to escape Kirin's grasp". Alexander continued. "Some of them died in the wilderness, the remains of them were weak and devoid of power. They were eventually found by the patriarch of the royal family, The Tyrus family. He took them in and made them slaves, that way no one would believe that they existed. They were never allowed to leave the district or go on missions. That is why your parents and some other guards have been mistreated lately. That includes your father". I didn't even know when I stood up but I found myself looking Alexander in the eye. "You saw..." was l all that was able to leave my mouth before Alexander cut me short. " I couldn't have done anything if I wanted to. I also have lineage to Jung-Hwa and I have boundaries". I was just about to ask how Alexander was able to go on missions and even escort the main royal family till I saw the different colors in his irises. One was blue and the other red. They were a nice and attractive combination as Alexander looked quite youthful. Alexander wasn't completely a bloodline of Jung-Hwa, his blue eyes came from his mother's side probably. Realization finally dawned upon me, Alexander wasn't a complete member of the lineage and since he was extremely skilled, it wasn't hard to figure out that the royal family needed him.

"I faced so many obstacles getting here, I had to show them that I wasn't a harm to their system of royal phonies. I had to make them trust me, I turned against my lineage in order to prove, some I sent to their graves all in the hope to make them see that our kind was worth living". Alexander then took of his shirt and showed a huge scar. He must have been beaten mercilessly in order to prove himself. They were other scars but they were superficial. " You'll be forced to understand someday". Alexander eventually concluded and went back to teaching my lessons. I couldn't even focus because I felt like honestly punching myself till I passed out. 'How many were killed because of me, how many brutalized into slavery, how many persecuted, all because of my actions'. The thoughts kept flowing through my mind, honestly I wouldn't even blame Alexander for everything he'd done. I would have probably done the same in his shoes. Honestly, in both lives, "I'm a problem".
