"Why are you late?" My dad asks as soon as I step into the house.
"I got detention, and then Ivan and I hung out for a bit," I answer as he was mad. But I understand, he must've been worried that something bad happened to me.
"Why are you wet?" He notices the water dripping from my body.
"W-we went to the beach and jumped in the water." I was a bit nervous at his reaction. Jumping into the water with your clothes on isn't a smart thing to do. But I won't be telling him about the details. I'm a teenager, I need space and I won't tell my dad about romantically making out with Ivan.
"Teenagers nowadays." He sighs at my statement still staring at me. "Why did you get detention?" He further continues.
"We got in a fight with someone, Ivan and Roger got hit and all that, so the principal gave us detention for two hours after school." I clarify.
"Oh, okay. Go put on some dry clothes, you're going to get sick."
"Okay, I love you, Dad," I say and run up the stairs to the bathroom and take a shower.
I then go back to my room and put on some grey sweatpants and an oversized plain white T-shirt. After I put my clothes on, I go down to the kitchen to eat something. I hope we have some leftovers, I'm too tired to cook.
As I get in, I see a pizza box sitting on the counter. Dad must've ordered it.
I open it and eat five slices. Thank god, I was starving.
I wash my hands and go back to my bedroom, getting cozy in my bed. I lay there, staring at the ceiling thinking about how amazing of a day it was. With all the messed-up shit that happened, I'm happy Ivan and I got a special moment today. I still get butterflies thinking about it.
Should I text Sophie about it? I'll just tell her tomorrow in person. I'm dying to see her reaction.

"SHUT UP. NO WAY." I hear Roger's reaction on the phone after I told him Val and I are officially dating.
"YES WAY," I answer matching his excitement.
"What happened during detention?" He asks.
"We ran away and went to the beach."
"When did you become such a hopeless romantic? This girl has you under her spell."
"Fuck off Roger. And that's not the best part...we jumped into the water, and started you know....making out and just playing like kids." I tell him nervously.
"I should've stayed awake. Why did I decide to sleep during detention? I missed all the fun." He sighs.
"You weren't coming anyway."
"Thanks, bro. Appreciate it."
"Anytime."
"Well, you didn't ask me how my day was fucker." He says raising his voice a bit.
"How was your day Roger?"
"Better now than never. But anyway, I kind of have a thing for Lucy, Valeria's friend. We sat together at the cafeteria, and she's really fun to be around. I'm thinking about asking her out tomorrow." He mumbles. It's the first time he ever tells me about a girl. They're usually glued to him, he never had 'one' specific person he had a thing for.
"No way dude, that's amazing. I hope it works out well." I say genuinely happy for him.
"Thank you mate. Anyway, I have to go, I'll talk to you later."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye."
I sit in bed and start scrolling through my Instagram feed when suddenly I hear a knock on the door.
"Come in," I say loud enough for that person to hear.
The door suddenly opens and I see my dad walking in.
"Hey, son." He says with a small smile.
"Hey, dad. Is something wrong?" I sit up feeling a bit worried at his sudden decision to talk to me. We barely ever speak because he's always too busy at work.
"No, everything's fine. But Marie told me she saw you were fully wet once you got home, and I just wanted to know if something happened." Marie is our housekeeper, and she cares about me like her son, I must've worried her. He comes closer and sits on the side of the bed.
"Oh. It's nothing but my friend and I went to the beach and decided to jump into the water fully clothed." I explain not mentioning...the other things.
"Does that friend have a name?" He asks curiously.
"Valeria," I answer slightly tilting my head down saying her name. He's never really cared about any of my friends. He only knows Roger because he's been part of the house since we were toddlers.
"Mhm Valeria, I see. And is she special?" He raises his brows.
"Well, we're kind of...dating," I tell him a bit embarrassed. I'm talking with him about my love life for the first time since forever, I don't know how to do these things.
"Really! Never thought you were the dating type."
"I'm not, she's just different. Something about her drove me crazy since the moment I laid my eyes on her. I even took her to you and mom's special spot." I feel weird admitting it, but it slipped away from my mouth, I didn't think about it.
"I'm happy for you son. And if she wants you, I'd love to meet her someday. Only if you wouldn't mind." His statement took me off guard, he's that interested in her. Does everyone just like this girl?
My girl.
"I wouldn't mind. I'll just have to ask her if she wants to." I agree to be excited about this whole thing.
"Perfect." He smiles wanting to continue talking before his phone suddenly rings. He looks at the contact name and says "I have to take this, it's important."
"No problem."
He nods and answers the phone getting up from the side of the bed and leaving my room.
Since mom died, I thought my dad didn't care about me that much. We barely spent any time together and he just drowned himself with work. That's how he got wealthy over the past few years. We've always been a middle-class family, and I convinced myself that him becoming richer was more important to him than me.
So...that was extremely unexpected from him.
In a good way.
