There we were standing in the dark, surrounded by a faint purple light.
Where am I? And who's this guy?
I couldn't see his face, I noticed his curly hair and only got a glimpse of his piercing green eyes staring at me. For some reason, they hypnotized me. I found myself walking in his direction, trying to catch any of his features, yet it was all black.
*alarm clock ringing*
"Time to wake up Val, you're going to be late". I heard my dad saying as he entered my room.
It was all a dream? It felt so real. Why am I sweating?
It doesn't matter, I don't want to be late on my first day at a new high school, which wouldn't give the best first impression.
I get up and head directly to the bathroom flicking the lights on. I hop into the shower I needing to get cleaned up.
I turn the water on and adjust it until it's the perfect temperature. I start by shampooing my hair quickly, I then grab my toothbrush to which I apply some toothpaste to brush my teeth. I take my body lotion bottle and put some on my loofah, cleaning the right places. Lastly, I apply some hair conditioner, running my hands through my hair and rinsing my body one last time before turning the water off.
I wear my dressing gown, and go to my room, brush my hair wrapping a towel around it to let it dry. I open my drawer, to dress myself up, taking my black underwear, a matching bra. Next, I remove the towel from my hair while heading towards my closet.
After that, I grab a pair of high-waisted, light blue mom jeans, and a loose plain purple shirt and put them on. It's always been my favorite color, puts me in a good mood. I then wear a pair of socks and my white sneakers
I rush quickly to spray some deodorant, grabbing my backpack. I make sure to go to my mom's room and kiss her goodbye, I'd sacrifice all have for her to get better.
Next, I get out of the house hopping to my dad's car.
"Why is your hair still wet honey? You'll get sick".
"I was afraid to be late. It's not a big deal though, it'll be dry by the time I get to school." I answer back.
"Are you excited for your first day? Making new friends, starting fresh." He asks me with a smile on his face.
"I'm nervous, I don't know anybody. What if they don't like me?" I murmur as he looks in my direction.
"I know it's hard, if it wasn't for your mom's condition, we would've never switched neighborhoods, but we need a close hospital if things get bad." He puts his hand in mine and gives me a quick reassuring look." Don't worry darling, they're going to love you and you'll make friends in no time." He adds back.
It did make me feel a little bit better, I'm extremely socially awkward when it comes to meeting new people, but it's going to be alright.
After driving for 20 minutes, we finally arrived. I'll be spending my last year of high school here. It's time to make to have a good time, and have the time of my life.
"Bye dad, love you". I saw as I slide out of the car.
"Have a good day sweetie".
I start walking scanning my entourage. It looked like my old school, but bigger, I know I wouldn't have been able to afford it without my scholarship. I get in, looking around to try to memorize every detail, I can't wait to describe it to mom when I get home.
Suddenly, I felt somebody bump into me. We both fell to the ground and as I looked ahead, I saw it was a beautiful blond girl, her hair was in a messy bun, she was wearing a pair of black glasses, some black leggings and an oversized pink sweater with white tennis shoes.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't see you". She quickly apologizes while gathering her books from the ground.
"No, please don't apologize, it's my fault, I zoned out while looking around," I answer her back, helping her with her books.
"What's your name?" I ask her as we stand up.
"I'm Lucy Walker, what's yours?", she mumbles.
-"Valeria Campbell, I'm new here, I don't know anybody."
-"It's nice to meet you, Valeria." she says with a friendly smile. "Since you're new, why don't I show you around, we have a few minutes before class starts." she continues.
"I'd love to".
I follow her as she walks ahead leading me through the hallway. Starting by the classrooms, then the principal's office.
"Whatever you do, don't get on Principal Jonhson's bad side, he's scary. A student once accidentally sneezed on him when he was walking by and got detention for a week."
"He sounds terrifying. My old principal Miss Robinson and him would be great friends. She's 55 years old, still single and she made it everyone's problem. They both have severe anger issues." I tell her feeling a lot more comfortable now. Dad was right, I am making friends, really nice ones.
The chatter and laughter continued for a few minutes, till the bell rang. We're in the same class, so we head there together as the rest of the students do the same.
We get to the classroom, decorated nicely. Louie blue walls, a few paintings on the wall I assume were the work of art of some old students. I liked it.
I took a seat in the first row as Lucy sat behind me patiently waiting for the class to be full.
But then happened the unexpected. I saw a guy walking in, he was handsome. Curly hair, heart-shaped lips, nice muscular body, but I got nervous as I stared into a familiar pair of green eyes.
The ones I saw in my dream.
I turned around facing Lucy, then I ask her " Who's the green-eyed guy?"
"Oh, that's Ivan Knight, every girl at school has a crush on him. A few boys too. And that guy there, with the buzzcut" she points at him and then continues. "That's his friend Roger Mitchell, they've been friends since they were 4, really nice boy, unlike Ivan. He's extremely smart, but he's a dickhead, has a couple of new girlfriends every day. His dad is one of the richest real estate agents in the country, so he's just a spoiled rich popular kid. Don't be fooled by his nice appearance".
I can't tell her I saw him in my dream, that's creepy. All I managed to say was. "Oh, I'll make sure to stay away from him".
This is going to be interesting.
