Ivan Knight
As I got into class, my eyes met with a pair of hazel ones. She had long brown curly hair, a button nose, and pink plump lips. She was simply gorgeous. Who's this girl?
I needed to talk to her. I don't know why, my heart was telling me to.
"Hello, I'm Ivan Knight". I say as I lean forward on her table. I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. But this wasn't like me, I've always been confident when talking to a girl. This one had something different, a special charm.
"Hi, I-I'm Valeria Campbell". She mumbles sounding nervous. Why isn't she looking at me? Do I look intimidating? For the first time in my life, I felt interested in getting to know somebody.
Valeria! What a beautiful name! I couldn't help but smile when I heard her talk.
Get your shit together Ivan, you just met.
As I wanted to continue our little conversation, Miss Roberts arrived. That was my cue to go sit down. I glanced at her one more time before taking a seat.
"Good morning class". Miss Roberts says, then proceeds to continue " We have a new student today. Miss Campbell, introduce yourself to the class".
Valeria instantly looked up when she heard her name, getting up from her chair and saying "Uhm... hello. I'm Valeria Campbell, nice to meet you all". She answers with obvious nervousness in her voice.

It was time to head to the cafeteria. I wanted to talk to her so bad, I couldn't help but stare at her in class. I hope she didn't notice because I looked like a creep. I needed to give her a good first impression.
I waited for her to take her meal and take a seat before approaching. She was sat with a girl whom I don't know the name. I came forward and asked, " Is that place taken?", as I pointed to the spot next to hers.
"No, have a seat.", she answered shortly.
"I'll be right back", the nameless blond girl said, leaving me alone with Valeria.
"How are you?", I murmur.
"I'm alright."
She wasn't interested, but I wasn't going to give up.
"So, you're new here."
"Yeah, we changed houses so my old school is now really far away, I had no choice but to switch". She tells me looking at me this time.
We continue conversing, and the mutual awkwardness stopped.
After a few minutes, I ask her: "What do you want to be in the future?"
" I want to be a heart surgeon, what about you?"
"I've always dreamt of becoming a judge, as weird as it seems, I love the law and I want to be a part of my carrier", I answer her question as she stares at me. "Why a heart surgeon though?"
"My mom has a severe heart condition, and the cure is yet to be discovered. I guess deep down, I want to do it to save someone else's life because I can't do it to the person I love most."

Valeria Campbell
Why did I tell him about my mom? I just met him, I never open up to someone this fast. I was never the type of person who's comfortable with sharing their feelings, and I certainly wouldn't have done it to my classmate who casually visited my dream last night. Well, his eyes did...but that wasn't the point.
"I-", as he was about to keep talking, his friend Roger interrupted him saying:" Man, where the hell has you been, I've been looking for you." He glances at me and continues: "Oh hey, you're the new girl Valeria, right?"
I nod wanting to talk to him when Ivan gets up and says:" I haven't been kidnapped dude, chill out." He then stands up and looks at me:" It was nice meeting you Val, I'll see you around."
He left before I got the chance to respond. Why did I get butterflies when he called me Val. I don't like him, do I? This can't happen, he seemed like a nice guy but the whole dream thing is ruining that moment. Besides, Lucy said he wasn't a nice guy, we'll just be friends.
I can do that.
God, he's so hot.
After a few moments, Lucy came back and sat back next to me.
"Spill. The. Tea", that was the first thing she said when she sat down which made me chuckle.
"There's no tea to be spilled, he was just getting to know me, nothing serious," I mumble back to her, still with a shocked look on her face.
"Do you like him?", she asks surprisingly making me widen my eyes.
"What?! No. Of course not, I met him 10 minutes ago."
"Well, it's pretty obvious he likes you." She continues. I have a confused look on my face. "Oh come on, he's whipped, didn't you notice him staring at you all the time during class, because I did. Besides, he's never talked to a girl before, she always makes the first move."
"Maybe, he was just trying to be nice". I add. "And he isn't 'whipped'. we were having a normal conversation like normal teenagers."
"Sure, keep telling yourself that". She tells me as her lips curl into a smirk.
"Stop it!"
"WHAT, I didn't say anything?" I had an annoyed look on my face which only amused her more.

It was now 3 pm, I had to go back home.
Dad can't pick me up, he finishes work late at night, I'll just take a taxi, let's just hope the driver isn't a kidnapper.
I walk out of school when suddenly I heard a familiar voice call my name, "Val, Valeria."
I look to my right and see Ivan wearing a pair of black sunglasses sitting in his red car.
"Do you need a ride?"
"No, it's alright, I'll take a taxi, my house isn't that far away". I answer back.
"None of that, I'll drop you off, come on get in."
I don't bother saying anything back because I know he would still drive me there anyway. He seemed very stubborn. I hop into his car, closing the door behind me. I sit down and place my backpack next to me.
"Thank you so much for driving me Ivan, I appreciate it". I tell him truthfully, then he looks at me and smiles.
"Don't thank me, darling, and from now on, I'll be taking you home every day. You cannot deny, I'm stubborn and I'll do it anyway. Now tell me, how do I get to your house?"
My stomach twisted as he spoke. This is the nicest anything has ever done to me, and he doesn't even know me. Why is he doing this? It still felt weird but I felt a lot more comfortable around him, I knew that this guy and I have a long journey ahead of us. This year is surely going to be interesting.
"Turn right, and walk straight ahead," I mumble back smiling like an idiot.
He keeps driving in the directions I tell him to, talking about random topics, sports, family, future, music.
Ivan Knight, he football player, future judge, country music fan, really good driver, weirdly obsessed with astrology, this kind of shocked me because boys made fun of girls for it.
"When's your birthday?", he murmurs still focusing on the road.
"July 10th. Why?" I answer staring at his side profile. His jawline was sculpted by the Greek gods. He was perfect.
"It means you're cancer, my birthday is September 5th, so I'm a Virgo, we're soulmates Miss Campbell.", he says curling his lips into a grin.
"What does the day I was born in have to do with me and you being soulmates Mister Knight?" I tell him, smirking as well.
"Astrology doesn't lie Val."
"Sure, keep telling yourself that," I say as I smile at him
"That's my house", I tell him pointing at the side of the road.
He parks the car and I grab my bag. I then open the door and slide out of the vehicle.
"Thank you for the ride, I appreciate it". I tell him sincerely still smiling.
"Anytime Val, see you tomorrow".
"Can't wait."
Did I say that? Compose yourself girl.
I walk into the house that was quiet as usual.
I miss smelling delicious food as I open the door, I miss my mom welcoming me and asking me how my day was. I miss 'you' Rosie Campbell.
I go upstairs and meet eyes with Lara, the nurse who takes care of my mom. She comes here every day at 6 am and leaves at 7 pm. She's an extremely nice lady.
"How is she?" I mumble quietly.
"I wish I could tell you she's getting better sweetheart, but she's still the same, her condition improving. But don't lose hope". She answers with sadness filling her eyes and sends me a reassuring smile.
"Thank you so much for taking care of her", I look at her with gratitude. "Can I see her?"
"Of course, she just woke up, I'm sure she'll be happy to see you".
I walk to her room, get in, and sit on the chair next to her bed. There she was laying in that same position.
Before I could notice, I started crying.
