After Brandon and Robert left to get the drinks, a loud thump resounded in the pub, drawing Jamie's eyes, and many others. A man with his long black hair in a loose braid, dressed in a black, loose shirt and pants, with white stripes on his sleeves. The person besides him elbowed him, whispering a few words, and he quieted down. Jamie sat there for five minutes, growing bored, the murmur of the room filling the pub. Jamie looked at the table and noted their conversation topics. Martial Arts, NASCAR, and hot girls. Restraining the urge to roll his eyes, he looked towards the bar and saw Brandon and Robert standing in a long line. Jamie sighed, and eventually took another gulp of the beverage as he sat there, stifling his urge to gag. Jamie eventually took a few more gulps while he waited, tapping the glass softly, a slight buzzing gradually filling his ears, as Brandon and Robert finally returned with the extra drinks.
"Hey Jamie, Emily, how has it been in the portal so far?"
The voice cleared the fog filling his mind, and he snapped his head towards John, noticing his slightly glossy red eyes, and Emily leaned forwards slightly, crossing her legs, and responded. "Nothing special. We have only been here for two days. Just found three beasts."
"Seriously? Did nothing happen?"
Jamie smiled wryly. "We managed to find a couple of Zaututor and a Yellow Fur Black Stripe Bear, but afterwards we left immediately afterwards."
"Why?"
"Because there were traces of a Gredidine Warprince in the area."
The male next to Emily, the black haired man in a textured crop, let out a condescending laugh. "Ha. Turn tail and run at the chance of encountering a warrior. Suppose that's just like Beast Tamers and Battlepet Masters. I've been hearing so much about the Gredidine, I'd like to face one in combat. They can't be that tough."
As he said the words, he kept glancing sideways at Emily, tensing his arm. Jamie turned to the man, giving him a slight smile, annoyed at his words inside. "Sure thing Robert. How about I tell you the location we found them. You can give it a try."
Jamie watched carefully, and noticed his body tremble slightly. Robert snapped back. "They would be long gone afterwards."
Jamie chuckled. "Perhaps. Or perhaps your just too scared. "
"I could snap you like a twig."
"I'm sure you could. But could you snap my beast like a twig?"
"We could give it a try."
John cut in between the two. "Whoa, easy there fellas. No need to fight."
A voice rang in Jamie's head. "Jamie, that isn't like you. What's going on?"
"That jackass insulted my profession Eve."
"You still wouldn't provoke a fight for that normally."
Jamie sighed, looking at the glass mug. "It must be the alcohol."
"Robert, it would be stupid of you to try fight a Gredidine Warprince."
Jamie looked up, to Brandon who was siting on the left side of Emily.
"And why is that?"
"For one, they are all at stage 7 minimum."
Robert flinched, barely noticeable, then puffed himself up. "So what. I bet I could take one if we were at the same stage."
Brandon shook his head. "No you couldn't. Those are there Warleaders, and the Gredidine, have a martial tradition. At the age of ten, all Gredidine are thrown into a arena and expected to fight and kill five Red Tipped Wolves at the same stage as them. At the age of 16, they are all expected to kill a stage 4 Black Mane Buffalo. If they can't kill the creatures, they can't leave the arena. That was for all civilizations. The requirements for a Warprince is even harder."
"Warprinces are expected to be able to kill 10 Red Tipped Wolves at the same stage in a single fight, without incurring a single wound. There are only five Waprinces at one time, one for stage 7, two for stage 8, and two for anything above. The number of positions are limited, so they have to be able to outfight the other competitors, and they are required to be well versed in military strategy and governing."
"And yet, they fell to a single cities forces. They can't be that tough."
"They fell, because they pissed off the other races on the same continent, and badly underestimated the City Guardian of Brouis city. They lost because of their hubris, nothing else. Don't make the same mistake Robert."
Jamie kept his face blank as he watched Brandon ramble on, but inside he was laughing gleefully. He watched Robert deflate, and Brandon started to talk to Emily about the Martial Warrior tournament he took place in at Slaka City two years ago, bragging about his position at 5th place. After catching Emily roll her eyes discretely, Jamie waited until she was about to take a sip of the beverage and projected his thought to her.
"So, having fun? Cause I sure am."
Emily choked up as she heard his thought in her head, spitting out some of her alcohol, as she put down the glass on the table, coughing heavily. Eyes drew to Emily as Brandon and Robert moved forward to to express their concern. Jamie leaned back in his stool, raising his hand to his mouth to cover his smile, and almost slipped off his stool, quickly placing his hand on the table to balance himself. Luckily, no one on the table noticed as they were watching Emily.
After Emily gradually recovered and shook off the concerns, a voice rang in Jamie's head.
"A*s*ole"
Jamie smirked, and sent back "You got me to come. It's only right that you keep me entertained."
"THANKS TO YOU LOT MY GIRLFRIEND IS BEING HUNTED!!!!"
Eyes cut to the person who shouted, including Jamie's. The man with his hair in a loose braid, who had thumped the table earlier and dressed in a Hunter's Association uniform, was stumbling his way over to Ivan's table, looking at the Sherot perched on a stool at the table.
Ivan stood up and stood between the Sherot and the drunkard.
"Calm down. The Sherot....."
"DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!!"
A couple of the waiters started making their way towards the man hastily, hands at their waists, as he held out his hand, and a glowing, red sword started to form. Amelia started chuckling and shaking her head, then took a sip out of her glass. The Sherot at Ivans table watched the the man warily, and the group of Sherot started to beat their wings, glaring at the man, squawking. Ivan held up his hands. "Easy. You don't want to do that. Put that away and lets talk it through."
The man sneered. "Sympathizing with these creatures. Typical for a Battlepet Master. Get out of the way or be cut down."
Ivan's eyes narrowed as the man took another step. "You asked for this."
A flash of gold, red, grey and brown light appeared around Ivan, and a Hippogriff with flaming red wings with golden tips, a brown body and a grey underbelly with golden eyes and a beak appeared in a single burst of light. The Hippogriff let out a screech, and a white ripple erupted from it's beak to the room, disorienting everyone in the room except Amelia, who was watching the show, with a grin on her face while taking another drink.
The Hippogriff narrowed it's eyes and looked at the man, who was now kneeling on the ground, covering his ears, the glowing red sword dissipating. Everyone else in the pub's minds started clearing , and a couple of the waiters walked up to kneeling member of the Hunters Association, wairily watching the Hippogriff as they grabbed the person on the ground, restrained him and dragged him away. The Hippogriff disappeared in a burst of gold, brown, grey and red light, and Ivan took his seat, taking another drink and acting like nothing happened.
"Q-QUAD ELEMENT!"
Jamie looked towards Emily, who had shrieked it out, amused at her over the top reaction. He looked around the table and noted their eyes were all almost bulging out of their eye sockets, watching Ivan as he continued to talk to Amelia. Jamie sat there, tapping his glass.
Fifteen minutes later, Ivan, Amelia and Sherot got up and left the pub. He looked around at the table he was at, and noted that most of them had half glazed eyes, noticing with amusement that John had his arms around someones shoulder, badly singing a song, and Brandon was flexing his biceps in front of Emily, while she watched with a blank expression, her hands holding the mug on the table, covering half of it. Jamie grinned, finished his glass, getting up from his stool, then sent a thought to John and Emily. "I'm going to head off now. I'll see you around."
John looked at Jamie with glazed eyes, mumbling out "See ya ater J-Jamie."
