"Hmmm, interesting. What skills does she have?"
"Healing things with her paws, Moving things with her mind, Moving Instantaneously, Black Smog, Empowering her bite, using two skills as once."
Ivan nodded. He walked towards Jamie, sitting on the ground in front of him. He held out his hands, palms up, and the air around his palms shimmered briefly and a longsword with a white hilt in a black sheath appeared in the in the palms of his hands. He drew the blade from it's black sheath, exposing a grey blade, and he placed it on the ground. He looked towards Eve.
"I need you to inject your energy into the blade."
Eve got up from Jamie's left, and walked forwards, lightly placing her paw on the blade. Shortly afterwards, the grey blade of the longsword started shimmering, and the blade started changing colour, turning into a transparent, white colour. The blue carper floor was slightly visible looking through the blade.
Ivan leaned back, lightly tapping his plain black watch, frowning. Eventually, he held out his hand, palm up, and a dagger with a white hilt in a black sheath appeared in the palm of his hand. He drew the blade, exposing a grey blade, and used it to cut the side of his hand, drawing blood, with a wince from him. He held his cut hand on the blade, then looked at Eve.
"Eve, I need you to stop channeling your energy into the blade, and heal my cut. I need you to make sure your paw is both on the blade, and my cut hand, and try direct some of the energy towards the blade as you heal my hand."
Eve moved her paw, placing her paw down lightly on the blade, making sure it was touching Ivan's hand. Ivan winced as Eve's paw lightly brushed up against the wound. A moment later, her paw started rippling with golden energy, and the blade below started turning golden under Ivan's astonished eyes. One minute later, he pulled his hand away, saying out loud.
"You can stop now Eve, and pull your paw away from the blade."
After Eve had moved away from the blade, moving back to Jamie, Ivan picked it up with a low grunt, sheathed it, and placed it back into his Astral Body space, then sitting on the bed, looking at Eve.
"Interesting. This energy can stimulate the effects of Primal and Elemental energies.'
"Primal? Elemental?"
Ivan looked at Jamie. "I usually classify the different energy types into three categories in my head, it makes it easier to keep track of there distinctions. Some other Battlepet Masters do the same."
"Primal Energies refer to energies that are believed are essential to creating and maintaining our cosmos. Order, Chaos, Time, Space, and some others fall into this category, and these energies and the skills associated with these energies often have a fixed affect on what they can do, but are the best at what they can do. For example, the process of healing my arm, Eve is probably using her energy to create or manipulating the molecules needed to remake my cut hand into it's previous pattern."
"The second classification is Elemental Energies. Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Lightning are examples of these, and are more...flexible in there usage. Martial Warriors stage 3 and above get a skill where they can form a weapon, and within each element, the weapon can vary. For example, you can see Earth Energy being used to form Hammers, Spears, and Swords, based on the individuals. The Elemental Energies usually have more flexibility then the Primal Energies."
"In any environment with Air, an Air type skill can accomplish the same thing as presumably Eve's Chaos type ability to move forward instantaneously, but they accomplish the result differently. The Air type skill would reduce the air around the lifeforms using the skill, reducing wind resistance as they strengthen their legs with energy and move forward. The Chaos type is instead either obliterating or breaking down the molecules in it's pathway, as they strengthen their legs with energy and move forward."
"The third energy category is referred to as Lifeform Energy. Astral Energy and Essence Energy is the very basic, generic version of this, with Astral Energy used among those empowering their Immaterial Body, and Essence Energy used among those empowering their Physical Body. Some races gain specific race energies such as the Faeries, that gain access to Fae energy. It is this energy that determines if two lifeforms are suitable to form a bond contract. Most people discount this energy type, because at stage 1 Astral Body Size or Martial Warrior or their equivalent, every lifeform gains access to one."
Ivan looked at Eve with interest. "This type of energy that Eve is using is unheard of. I'm betting the skill to use two other skills simultaneously comes from that unique energy she has."
Jamie took a moment to process what Ivan said while stroking Eve, and eventually looked at Ivan, and asked "Do you think that she can learn to replicate other Primal and Elemental Energy, and use skills associated with them, or just Order, Chaos, Earth, Air, Water, Fire?"
"That's for you to find out. By the way, did she have any lifeform Energy before and after? You didn't mention that."
Eve thought about it deeply, trying to recall, then transmitted to Jamie.
"I think so? I had a small, miniscule speck of silver at the centre of my energy pool, with the other energies swirling around it in a circle, intermingling together. Afterwards, it's just a transparent white colour in my energy pool."
Jamie passed the information to Ivan, while he looked at Eve, stroking her neck. Blackwing licked his hand and let out a low growl, so Jamie started rubbing him around the neck with his other hand. He thought back to the list he saw on the creatures around Ragas, and list on the types of energies they could use.
"So, which energy type categories are the best, in your opinion? I was going to grab beasts with as much different energy types as possible, regardless of any categories they fall under, that could possibly improve my soul size upon increasing it's stage."
Ivan snapped out of his thought, and shook his head. "Everything has it's pros and cons, there is no best energy category."
"In a windy environment, a high stage Air Element Energy being would have a massive advantage against a Chaos user at the same stage, being able to use the entire environment as a weapon. In an area devoid of air, the chaos user would have a massive advantage. That, however, is all it amounts to, an advantage. How one uses the advantage is a different thing entirely. Ultimately, in my opinion, the more options your beasts have, the easier it is to fight in different environments."
Ivan paused, then eventually said in a grave voice "It would be best if you did not let other people know about Eve's energy. In particular, that you don't register this at a government facility."
Jamie paused in mid stroke. "Why not?"
"H-Supreme. Larry, the truck driver, reported that in the two days since we were away, H-Supreme made an attempt to kill Battlepet Master Isabella when she was with her niece as they were relaxing at a resort. They wanted to break her bond with the quad element juvenile Four Winged Rainbow Serpent and capture it, to experiment on it to learn how it could have four Energy Types, and try replicate that feat for human Martial Warriors."
Jamie shuddered. "You think the human radicals would want to do the same to Eve?
"I do. They could even try to break her mentally, and train her to contract one of their members and obey them unconditionally."
A chilling silence broke between the two.
Ivan paused, then looked at his watch briefly, before continuing. "In fact, I don't think it would be limited to members of H-Supreme, that would seek to capture Eve. I think some in the government would seek to do the same, or sell the information to those that are interested. I know of some Battlepet Masters who have been attacked in highly suspicious circumstances, with lackluster support provided to them, and little to no information being revealed on the findings at times. I am highly surprised they decided to be forthcoming about Isabella's attack."
Jamie looked towards Ivan. "My Mum works for the City Council in Brouis. I know she tries to use that position to make peoples lives better, and spends most of her time working."
Ivan gave a forced smile. "Let's say she does. Do you think that everyone that works for the government is the same? That there isn't a couple of people that can learn who provided the information on Eve, that won't use that for their own gain? Or that some of those people have their own biases against non humans might be manipulated to do so? Something else to keep in mind, that some members of H-Supreme might just find the information when they are just casually browsing through the lifeforms index, share it with their members, and one of those in the know will let the others know if they see you walking around with Eve."
A silence descended as Jamie lapsed into thought, and Ivan gave him the time to think it through. Jamie thought back to some of the instances where his mom was home after doing whatever she does for the city council, and how she spent most of her free time watching the television to find what other people thought about policy choices, leaving her with almost no free time. He thought about the way Lynch talked and behaved when he was registering Eve. He started frowning in thought. Eventually, Jamie broke the silence.
"I think this is being too paranoid. Regardless, it might already too late. While I haven't revealed to the government her energy, and I don't think they know about it, I have registered the new skill, her evolution, and more importantly, the way she evolved. That information would be available on the public lifeforms index. "
Ivan sighed, then shook his head. "I really hope I'm just being paranoid. I don't want anything to happen to you. Your a good, inquisitive kid. Come on, you should go grab your bags from your room. It's almost time for us to meet up at the truck."
