Author's note: this series is based on a dungeon and dragons campaign ran by my wonderful partner. The world is his and all side npc's are his creation, I have only created Wei. The party members are our other friend's and together we post our sessions on YouTube. I have permission from all parties to post my story here. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did playing! Please leave comments and let me know what you think.
Goliaths are the only known descendants from Ubos' earliest creators, the Giants, and they proudly carry themselves as such. Goliaths display their heritage proudly and very few will speak anything other than Giant. Long recognized for their strength, there was a period where the other races took advantage of the Goliaths, and used them as beasts. It didn't take long for the Goliaths to realize their mistreatment, and they rebelled in a show of voracious strength. This rebellion left an irreversible impression with the other races, that even now many avoid Goliaths and are warned of the danger they can pose. The Goliaths separated themselves from the other races of Ubos, and secluded themselves deep within Draconia. The history of their mistreatment is passed from generation to generation, making them distrustful and suspicious of outsiders. Many clans lived in secluded isolation, only occasionally interacting with each other for reproduction purposes and trading.
High above the clouds of Draconia, on the desolate peaks on the mountain tops, the Goliath clan Kohkomthena welcomed its newest member. A female named Wei was born on the 30th night of Tarkus, the day delegated the Giants March in honor of the Giants. The Kohkomthena clan's home was bleak and barren, a harsh environment that forged even harsher people. Atop the mountains, life was a constant struggle for resources but the Goliaths survived. As Wei grew, so did her sense of adventure. During the night, when most of her clan had gone to sleep, she would sneak below the clouds to a small forest. As often as she could, her early nights were spent exploring the forest floor. Until one night, Wei had a fateful encounter with an extraordinary creature. On one of her usual nighttime ventures, a glowing stag with a wreath of Garland hanging from it's antlers approached her. Mesmerized by the heavenly beast, Wei stood frozen as it lowered it's head towards her. The moment their heads touched, a blinding light overtook Wei's vision, leaving her blind to the surroundings. A moment later, a new vision played in front of her eyes. One of broken chains and destruction, a warning of what may come to pass. Mirroring the destruction stood several figures, surrounded by light, displaying only their vague outline. With them, there was peace and growth. The two sides warred with each other, each trying to conquer the other but neither quite getting the upper hand. Until a tall Goliath figure stood in the very center, a tie breaker. In a flash the vision dissipated, leaving Wei completely alone in the forest. The great stag had disappeared, leaving Wei with the foreboding vision. Frightened that she might be caught and disciplined for sneaking out, Wei rushed back to her clan and would never mention what happened that night to anyone in her clan. Although, on the nights she was able to sneak back to the forest, she would search for the stag in hopes of answers to the vision. The stag never reappeared, although besides the vision, it had left Wei with another gift. Whenever Wei would become enraged, certain abilities would appear and assist her in whatever she was facing. Once, while she was sparing with another child, Wei become engulfed in fury and a streak of light flew from her chest and at the other child. Or another time, while her clan was fighting a giant Roc, Wei had been picked up and pulled into the sky. Normally this would be the demise for a young Goliath, to be snatched by a Roc, but Wei fought her way out of it's talons and fell back towards the mountains. Wei once again become furious and was able to teleport back safely to the ground. This great feat earned her the nickname Windwalker, for as she fell she appeared to run on the wind. Nicknames were earned within the clans, often reminders of amazing tasks or accomplishments they had achieved. Many within her clan had predicted that Wei had been blessed by some kind of spirit and therefore held her in high regard. Within the clan, Goliaths would be assigned to the role that was best suited to them, stronger Goliaths would often be sentry or hunters, while intelligent Goliaths would take on mentoring roles within the clan. Most Goliaths received their roles around adulthood, but Wei's abilities got her role assigned early. It was commonly agreed on that Wei would be a spiritual leader, one to guide the Goliaths through tough times with prayer. However, Wei knew she had a bigger destiny, she had to find those figures from her vision and help stop the upcoming destruction. Wei went to her elders to inform them of her spiritual journey, she would have to leave the clan to fulfill her purpose. Wary of the outside world, but understanding the importance of the task at hand, Wei was granted permission to leave in hopes that when she returned she would become even more contested to the spirits and could lead her people into a better era. For ten years, Wei traveled across East and West Elska, searching for the figures and someone who could help interpret her vision. It wasn't until she ended up in Prague that her vision would finally begin to set in motion
