The next morning I awoke on the floor, the bed just didn't quite work for me the night before. Yesterday was quite eventful, very unusual for this otherwise dreary town. After I got ready, I grabbed my pack and headed downstairs. It was still pretty early in the morning, but I spotted the man called Amar'e easily. Taking a better look, I could easily tell this man is a paladin, most likely to the god Pyyrhon. My clan never really worshipped the gods, our creators had been the Giants. Next to him my new mentor Castor and the human man named Lynn sat next to him. Scanning the tavern, Marilyn was not here, most likely out with her brother. "Dobroye utro." I spoke in my native tongue, even after all these years away it slipped out so easily. " Eh yes, morning Windwalker." Castor replied, nursing a cup of dark liquid. Coffee by the smell. A plate of food found its way in front of me as I sat down, the keeper from last night swiftly walking away after setting it down. I suppose it came with the room. As I was finishing, Marilyn and Erik entered the tavern. They exchanged goodbyes at the door, before Erik left and Marilyn skipped over to our table. " It is good seeing my brother again." Marilyn sighed. She looked in good spirits, like a weight had been lifted from her young shoulders. " I'm glad you two had such a good time." Castor said, ruffling Marilyn's hair. She smiled and nodded at his comment. These two had a very parental bond between the two, with Castor filling the role of parent although he did not look very old himself. Dario joined us as well, looking like he slept much better than I did. A short while later, a man who looked very similar to Amare appeared at our table. " Alright, the boss is ready to see you." He smirked, definitely related to Amare somehow. Although, glancing at Amar'e, he looked agitated at the presence of this man. Wordlessly, the group got up and followed the man outside into a large carriage, well large enough for them anyway. I trailed behind them, I didn't think the few horses could pull my weight as well as everyone else's plus the cart. After a short ride ( well a walk for me), we arrived outside a mansion with another cart parked in front. Stepping out, I noticed many of the group exchange worried and suspicious looks at seeing the cart. I wonder who it belonged to, maybe someone they had past dealings with. The man led us inside a foyer, grand as the outside, and gestured to a door to his right. Voices could be heard trickling out from behind. I took the first step into the room, Amar'e and Lynn right behind me with the others following suite. We entered into an exquisite dining room, with a long mahogany table in the center. Three people sat at one end, a blonde woman on the further side, a black haired male in the middle, and finally closest to us a trifling man with dark blue skin. The female smiled widely at us, looking to recognize everyone behind me. " Well, speak of the devil and he shall appear." The woman purred, looking quite feline in her demeanor. The dark haired man sighed and shook his head, as if the very presence of the woman was an annoyance. " I've already told you once, I don't know why I have to keep telling you. I am not going to help you Cecile." He spoke in a final time, leaving no room for argument. " Cecile!?!" Castor cried out, reaching for a book at his hip. At hearing her name, everyone behind me readied themselves for battle. The dark haired man sighed and in a strange event turned into a most and floated out of the room. The trifling man turned to us and began cackling, insane by the looks of things. Where there was once a blonde woman, a green dragon sat. I whipped out my battle axe and steadied myself. An incontrovertible fury erupted inside me, and I find myself with the inexplicable ability to teleport a short distance anywhere in the room. I was right to pin Castor and Lynn as magic users, the two began firing off spells towards the dragon and tiefling. Marilyn summoned black chains that wrapped around the dragon and Dario shot off several glowing bolts, half at the dragon and the other half at the tiefling. Amare swung his sword but missed as Cecile reared back her head and a gust of green gas erupted from her mouth. Between Amare and I, we were able to use out shield to block a good chunk of the gas. I took this opportunity to put my axe into the neck of the dragon. She roared and swung her neck attempting to dislodge me, but I hung steady and dug my heels in. Cecile then attempted to bury her fangs into my skin, but her fangs scraped off my stone skin. Dragons and Giants have been natural enemies since the creation of this planet, Dragons were the destroyers and the Giants creators. Being descended from Giants, this made this particular battle all the more infuriating. Could barely pay attention to the magic that flew right next to my head, all my attention was focused on this accursed dragon. As we traded blows, I heard a heavy thud from behind. A peak revealed the tiefling had dropped to the floor and a hard Castor nearby. Good, one less thing to think about. Cecile seemed tired with fighting this way, and spread her wings to fly up out of our reach. Or so she thought. Empowered with my rage, I teleported right above her and hung on. She obviously wasn't expecting that, and I was able to drag her back down into Amares range. We crashed onto a chair and squashed it to pieces, I was thrown off onto the table. Cecile kneeled down next to the unconscious tiefling and together the two disappeared from sight. I roared in frustration, charging the empty space but met no opposing force. " Gone, again." Castor wheezes, looking especially bloody. Lynn stepped over to him and placed a healing hand on his shoulder, in a flash Castor looked better than ever. A deep breathe in and I was able to calm myself. " Where did she go?!?" I looked around, but could see nothing. " Teleported by the looks of it, we fought her before and she escaped last time as well." Amar'e said, also battered and bruised. " Yeah, she sucks." Marilyn muttered, laying a hand on Amare, putting him back to normal. " Well, we might as well go speak with Roman. It is why we came here in the first place." Castor said, dusting himself off. " Yes, Dario thinks it's strange how she just happens to be here, the day we were summoned before him, yes?" Dario spoke up, speaking strangely. Common is a weird language, Giant is much better in my opinion at least. " Yes quite, well we won't know until we speak with him." Amar'e stated, moving towards the door the man had disappeared under before. We found him rather quickly, like he had simply been waiting. " Well, now that I assume you are done destroying my home." He began, setting down a wine glass. " Chaz mentioned you were looking for something, something that I have." As he spoke he snapped his fingers. I could hear heavy footsteps down the stairs, like someone was carrying something very heavy. A moment later, the man who led us here came in with a large breast plate. " Well, we don't really have anywhere to store it at the moment." Castor began, looking cautiously at the armor." Well, you are not the first to come looking for it either, but you are the only ones willing to make a deal regarding it." Roman said, looking extremely bored of the conversation. " Alright, so I'll keep it here for now and when you return we can discuss a possible deal I have for you. I am busy, and your little fight has put me behind. I will send for you when I am available, until then behave in the city there is always someone watching." He dismissed us and left further into the house. We were quickly ushered out and on the streets in the rain before we knew it. " What a waste of time." Amar'e announced, obviously displeased with how things went down. " Yes, well I suppose we can return to the apartment I have here." Castor said, starting to lead us towards the school. Shrugging, we followed his suite to a small apartment with only two rooms. Although helped, many of the others looked drained. It was very quiet, Lynn, Castor, Amar'e, and Dario all had contemplative looks about them. I sat on the floor next to the door, all the furniture looked as if it would shatter if I sat on them, and closed my eyes. Hopefully things will be better when I opened them again.
