The next few days have been rough. Each member of the pack including me and my brother have all been in town for a few hours each at a time looking around for any signs of any vampires. Day and night we get nothing. Julian seems to be coming back longer than any of us and coming back with no scars. At first we thought he might have wondered off and got distracted but soon John noticed a smell, and so did everyone else to groan. John, looking out of a window of the library in human form, drinks from his cup before speaking.
"So, she returned."
"John, you know she means well."
"Who are we talking about now Zane."
"A vampiric lady. She goes by Mistress or Mother by her three other daughters."
"Their like that one video game villain's but less creepy and not being simped on."
"I see, but why is this a problem."
"Complicated history" said Julian, who was standing at the door. "For whatever reason my mother trusted them all and ever since they became friends of the pack."
"Well not everyone is they're friends" said Zane, who looks at John who is ignoring this.
"Well then, if she's a friend why did you all groan?"
"Cause that means she's wanting something. Something more than what we gave her last time."
"Putain de salope, je ne peux pas être satisfait de ton cadeau. Que veux-tu de plus."
Julian looks at John and shakes his head, speaking to John in French as well. "Papa, ça suffit. Quoi qu'elle veuille, nous l'aiderons."
Me and Zane just look at each other as they go on arguing until finally Matt steps in to break it off. "Hey, hey, hey. John enough, Julian you too."
"Oh great, look who's up."
"Julian" said Matt sternly. Julian just sighs and walks away as Matt calms John down. "Sorry about that, I'll talk with Julian later."
"Well least it's good to see you up."
"Yeah, I try to fight it, and either way its a full moon tonight. Moon's energy is enough to power the Leyline which in turn powers me. Thank Gaia."
"Who?"
"Oh right, humans. Gaia is like our God. She is the moon and blah blah blah what am I the Lemient."
"Matt careful what you say about Gaia or the Lemient."
"Yeah yeah yeah, I'm just glad that she lets me be up with John." With that the two share a kiss. Which reminds me about how Katt and I are. Speaking of them I look behind me and see the two being their usual selves. Wolf and all as Vix is hyper than normal. I turn back to look at the others.
"Matt, I do have a question?"
"Ask away human."
"your curse, do you know if this effects-"
"Yes it does, hence why that one halfling chick was helping. Sadly she died and separated her notes like if it was dangerous or something. Would have been easier if she just hide them all in one place but whatever."
"Oh, okay well then. Oh and my name is Daniel."
"I know your name silly, but regardless your still human. Even if you don't smell like them anymore."
That comment made me sniff myself, no scent but I look at Zane and Zane chuckles at me before saying "He meant your not meat. Not that you smell." I nod and just slowly back away from the three. I walk pass Katt and just pet her a bit before walking outside. Katt was in a form only known as wolf form, or Feral, but for now we shall call it wolf form. This form makes them be well like wolfs. Same size and all. I tend to avoid them when they're in this form for a number a reasons. One being I'm human and two cause normally when Katt is in that form she is either comforting Vix or simply teaching her. Best not to interfere when she's doing that.
Outside I step away from the cabin before pulling out a smoke and lighting it up. A few puffs here and there before I soon get the feeling of being watched. I turn around to find my brother in his human form coming up to me. He looks the same as John but just with more color and half the age. I offer him a pack but he denies and I go back to taking a few more puffs. As I do so he then speaks to me.
"Not allowed to smoke near the house huh?"
I look at him and nod. "If I do I sleep outside, Katt hates it."
He laughs and pats me back. "Well, that's what you get brother. Speaking of life I see your doing well. Got yourself a woman, raising a kid, and your part of something. Better yet your studying them, and your not getting attacked doing so, in other words your living the dream."
"Is it a dream though brother, look at you. You wanted nothing to do with all this and yet here you are but playing for the other team."
"Ah don't be like that. Got to look at the brighter things in life. I mean if I didn't get bit I would have been stuck in a dead end tech job."
"That is true, if I never decided to follow Lucy I would have never meet such great people, people that accepted me as they're own even when I'm not."
"See there you go."
"But then again, when all of this is over, what will they think of me. For now they're being nice since I'm helping with all of this, but after this. Will I still be part of they're family? Would Katt still love me for who I am? What will happen?"
"That is for the Gaia to decide, and right now Gaia is letting you be here without harm."
"Doesn't feel that way, it hurts still whenever I take a deep breath. I feel the Leyline both soothing and painful."
"That's because Zane forgot to teach you on how to deal with the mark. My teacher can be forgetful. Here brother sit down I'll help teach you."
We sit down soon we hear noises like screaming. We both look at each other and the screaming is coming from the forest. With no time to spare or let the others know we run in the direction the screams were coming from. I hold out my pistol while my brother shifts to anthro. We get closer and close and soon we see a body or two. Human teens killed. I examine the bodies before looking around to make sure the killer wasn't around.
"These aren't werewolf bite marks brother, the bodies are already cold and pale."
"Vampires, they're near."
"Should we warn the others?"
"No, no time, if we do the vampires might follow us."
"Yeah, good point." Soon we heard a scream and rush to it. We see another teen, who is pleading for life as its up in the air. The teen is face to face with no more than five vampires. One of the vampires hisses and gets to work biting deep into the skin of the teen and soon the others join. Feeding themselves on the poor teen as it screams for life. I ready my weapon and fire at a vampire making it go down to the ground. My brother grunts and gets up attacking another. Soon an all out brawl takes place as me and brother fight these vampires. Firing another shot at another vampire, this time hitting but not enough to knock it down it jumps on my and hisses.
"Silly wolf, how dare you interrupt our feeding. Now we should feast on you."
As it was about to bite my neck I see a wolf jump on it, snapping it's neck killing it instantly. It was Lucy and behind her was Zane who comes up to me and lifts me up. The other two vampires sadly run off with my brother getting the kill on the third on. I look at the teen who is on its lasts breath. I go up to them I hold out my gun to their head saying "May God have mercy on your soul son." I fire a round killing him instantly. I then look at the others and a disappointing look on my brothers face is seen. He just walks away. I look at the other and Zane, with that same look speaks.
"Two ran, three dead. they're becoming stronger when together it seems. Now they know were after them again. Not that we were going to stay hidden but, now this means war with them. Great." She walks away and Lucy, with a little smile whispers in my ear "Good thinking, love your shoot first ask questions later." She winks and walks away carrying the body of the teen back home. I sigh and kneel down doing the sign of the cross on the teens death spot before following them back home.
