Chereads / The Author of Life / Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

"Thomas, you've entered critical levels. You should exit the world as soon as you can." Benny said but I ignored him and instead focused on the battle with the Great Tree. I was using all of my energy to keep fighting, and I was on the brink of passing out. The Great Tree was a formidable foe, and it was clear that it had the upper hand. Its branches were thick and sturdy, and they were becoming impervious to my blows. The only thing I could do was dodge its attacks.

I could see the elves and the heretics fighting in the background, and I could see the demons and the heretics being pushed back by the elves. We were winning, and I could see the light of hope in the eyes of the elves. I had to keep fighting. I had to keep going. I had to protect them. I had to protect this world.

The Great Tree was a powerful foe, but it was also a cunning one. It knew that it couldn't win by brute force, so it resorted to trickery and numbers. After some time passed by, the Great Tree spoke. "You're holding up well, you brat. Killing you will be difficult so instead I will banish you to the depths of my roots where endless hordes of demons wander."

Suddenly, I felt my body freeze until I could no longer move and the ground beneath me collapsed. I fell through the hole in the ground and kept falling for what felt like an hour until I hit the ground of a deep cave. The cave was dark, and I could barely see anything. I could hear the sound of water dripping, and the sound of something moving. I could also smell the stench of rotting flesh. 'Shit, I need to get out of here.'

As I looked around the cave that I'd fallen in to, I noticed that there was an eerie glow coming from the walls. It was a greenish-blue hue, and it seemed to give off an unnatural light. The walls were covered in a slimy substance, and the floor was covered in a thick, black goo. 'What the hell is this place?'

As I walked around the cave, I could hear the sound of something moving again. It sounded like it was coming closer, and I could feel a sense of dread growing inside of me. The smell was getting stronger too, and it was making me nauseous.

I was about to turn around when I saw the source of the noise. It was an enormous, slimy creature that was at least twice my size. It had a large, bulbous head, and its body was covered in a greenish-brown slime.

I recognized immediately that this was a demon but it looked slightly different compared to the average demon that was on the battlefield above. 'It looks like an abomination. Something that wasn't supposed to be born.'

I tried to back away from it, but it was too fast. It lunged at me, and I could feel its hot, wet breath on my face. I could see its razor-sharp teeth, and I knew that it was going to try to kill me.

I grabbed my sword tightly and stabbed it in its eye. It let out a loud screech, and it fell to the ground. I pulled my sword out of its eye, and it went limp.

I was about to breathe a sigh of relief when I saw that there were more demons coming out of the shadows. They were coming from all directions, and they were all headed towards me. I knew that I couldn't fight them all. I had to run. I ran as fast as I could, and I could hear the demons chasing after me. I was running out of energy, and I could feel myself getting tired.

I had to find a way out of this cave, but I didn't know where to go. I looked around and saw three tunnels. One was lit up by a faint light, while the other two were dark. I chose the one that was lit up, and I ran down it as fast as I could. The demons were still chasing me, but I was able to stay ahead of them. As I ran, I could see that the tunnel was getting narrower. I had to crouch down to fit, and then I had to crawl. I quickly found myself in a spacious room lit by the same eerie green-blue glow.

I looked around and saw that there was a large pool of water in the center of the room. It was full of the same slimy substance that was on the walls, and it smelled even worse than the rest of the cave.

I was about to turn around and leave the room when I saw something in the pool. It was a small, black object. The small black object rose from the pool of water and it turned out to be another demon but it was the biggest one I'd seen yet.

As I looked at the demon, its eyes glowed with an intense, bright blue light, and its claws extended out of its fingertips, sharp and deadly. It was covered in a dark, viscous fluid, and its skin was a deep, dark purple, almost black. The demon was a terrifying sight, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. It was almost as if I could sense the danger emanating from it.
