The room was filled with trees and plants, and the air smelled sweet. The trees were covered in leaves and flowers, and the ground was covered in thick grass. It was a beautiful room, and I could feel the life energy in the air.
I was about to take a step forward, but before I could, a large, thorny vine shot out of the ground and wrapped around my ankle. It grabbed on tight, pulled me up into the ceiling and started swinging me around like a rag doll.
I could feel the thorns cutting into my skin, and I could feel the blood dripping from my wounds. The vine swung me back and forth, and I was getting dizzy. I was also feeling the thorny pain on ankle. I had to do something. I used my sword to cut the vine and began to fall down until I hit the ground. I used Imagination Amplification to boost my defenses before I hit the ground.
"Thomas! Are you alright?" Erol shouted. I nodded, but my head was still spinning from the fall. I also felt an inexplicable pain from using Imagination Amplification.
I quickly came to my senses.
"Where's the demon?" I asked.
"I can't see it, but I know it's here somewhere," Erol replied. I got to my feet and looked around. I could see the trees and plants moving, then I spotted a larger tree in the crowded distance. It was covered in vines and thorns. It had large, thick roots that were spreading out from its base.
The demon was hiding in the tree, using its powers to control the vines and thorns. It was also capable of creating new plants and manipulating them.
I charged towards the large tree and slashed at the vines and thorns.
"Erol, use your rainbow beam and aim for the trunk. The demon is probably near that big tree!" I yelled.
Erol nodded and charged up his attack. The rainbow light grew brighter and brighter. Suddenly, the light shot out of the unicorn's horn and struck the tree with a loud crack. The tree shook and the vines and thorns fell to the ground. The demon let out a shriek and the entire tree began to move.
"Grah! Damn it, that hurt you bastard!"
It took me a brief moment to realize that that tree was the demon. A treant.
From what I knew, a treant was a huge, humanoid-like creature that looked like a tree. They are usually very tall and have a rough, bark-like appearance. Their arms are long, and their fingers are like long, thin branches. They have a large, leafy head, and their eyes are often small and black. Treants are often found in forests and other wooded areas, and they are very protective of the trees and plants that grow there according to my worlds folklore.
This treant however appeared to have an evil, demonic nature. It had a deep, resonant voice and its face was twisted into a scowl. Its eyes were red and its teeth were sharp. It was surrounded by a dark aura, and its body was covered in thorns. Its body was also covered in a layer of black, sticky sap.
I used my sword and Imagination Amplification to strengthen it to cut down the treant's vines and thorns, but the demon was relentless. It kept growing new ones, and it was hard to keep up.
"Erol, I need you to distract the demon!" I shouted.
"Got it!" Erol yelled back. He charged forward, and the treant turned its attention to the unicorn. Erol used his horn to fire rainbow beams at the treant, and the beams cut through the treant's vines and thorns.
"Damn it, you bastards are persistent. Erol, I had a feeling you'd betray the Great Tree. He should've killed you like the failed trash that you are!" The treant said. It was clear that it was trying to provoke Erol, but the unicorn wasn't going to fall for it.
I took this opportunity to sneak up behind the treant and cut down as many of the vines and thorns as I could. I was able to cut down quite a few of them, but the treant was still able to grow more.
"The Great Tree is not the rightful ruler of the world or the elves!" Erol said, "Only lord Thomas deserves any worship or adoration. He is the Author of Life and has the right to control life and death, not the Great Tree."
The treant growled in anger, and it sent more vines and thorns at Erol.
"Lord Thomas? Hahahaha, I'm surprised you'd put your faith in some pathetic mortal." The treant laughed. "I don't know what the hell the Great Tree was thinking letting weak unicorn like you live but it's time to fix that mistake!"
I quickly made my way back to Erol and used my sword and cut down the vines and thorns that were headed for him, then I used my powers to create a shield of energy around us both. The treant tried to break through the shield, but it was too strong. It growled in frustration and turned its attention to me. I was ready for it though. I created a blade of energy and hurled it at the treant. It sliced through the demon's bark, and it let out a shriek of pain. The treant stumbled backwards and fell to the ground.
"Thomas, now!" Erol yelled. I nodded and used my powers to create a spear of energy and hurled it at the treant's chest where the orb most likely resided. The spear pierced the treant's heart, and it let out a loud shriek of agony. It's body began to shake and convulse, then it exploded in a shower of wood, leaves, and black, sticky sap. The treant was no more.
I sighed in relief. "That was close. Thank you for the help, Erol," I said.
"No problem, Thomas," Erol said with a smile.
I looked around the room to see if there was anything useful but found it to be rather empty.
Then, shortly after, a wave of fatigue and nausea hit me. My vision began to blur and I felt as though I was going to pass out.
"Are you okay?" Erol said in a concerned tone. I nodded but it was a lie.
"I'll be alright. Just a little tired is all."
I started to vomit out blood and Erol quickly ran to my side.
"Thomas! What's wrong!? I know you're not okay." He said as his voice was full of concern and worry.
"I'll be fine. Just...just help me get out of here." I replied as I continued to cough up blood.
Erol helped me to my feet and we slowly made our way to the door that was supposed to lead to the next room but before I could make it my vision went black.
