Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

"Alright," I said. I didn't know how I would be able to get out of the dungeon without the unicorn's help. I climbed onto the unicorn's back and held on to his neck. He started to walk, and we were on our way. The unicorn walked slowly at first, but as we got further away from the broken entrance I had made, he began to speed up. He was walking at a fast pace now, and I had to hold on to him tightly to avoid falling off. I didn't know where he was taking me, but I hoped that it was somewhere safe. After a while, the unicorn slowed down and stopped in front of a door.

"This is the entrance to the next level of the dungeon. It's where the Great Tree keeps its most powerful demons," Erol said.

Great, more fighting. Will had managed to keep up with Erol and I and stayed by my side.

"Alright, let's go. I'm ready." I said and we entered the door. On the other side, we found ourselves in a dark room. The room was filled with yet another a thick, black mist. I could barely see anything. Will immediately lit up the room and we could see clearly. The room was large and circular with a high ceiling and walls made of stone.

In the center of the room stood a demon, and it looked at us with its eyes glowing red.

It was an ugly, misshapen, and distorted being. It had four legs and a long tail, and its body was covered in thick, black fur. It had a large mouth full of sharp teeth, and two horns on its head. It had two arms and hands, but they were twisted and gnarled, and it was hard to tell if it was even possible for them to move. Its eyes were black voids, and it had no nose. It smelled like death and rotting meat, and it was a truly terrifying sight. I could feel my heart beating faster and faster as it stared at me. I could feel the fear in my stomach, and I could feel the adrenaline in my veins. My hands were shaking, and I could feel the cold sweat on my brow.

This demon was unlike anything I had seen so far. It was the most grotesque abomination I had seen. I had seen many things in my life but this was the most horrifying.

"You should stay back," Erol said. "I will handle this one."

I didn't argue with the unicorn. He was right, I didn't know what I was up against, and I didn't know if I could take it. I didn't want to risk my life if I didn't have to.

"Erol, will you be alright? What kind of powers do you have?" I asked in concern.

"Don't worry, Thomas. I have some tricks up my sleeve." He smiled and winked at me before turning and facing the demon. I could feel his confidence and I felt a little better. Erol trotted towards the demon and it let out an ear-piercing shriek and charged at him. I could feel the ground shaking and the walls of the room were vibrating.

As I watched the unicorn approach the demon, a glowing rainbow light appeared on his horn. He shot a beam at the demon and hit it in the chest. The demon shrieked in pain and stumbled backward, then it lunged forward and grabbed the unicorn by the horn. Erol fought back, kicking at the demon's face and neck. The demon tried to bite the unicorn, but Erol was too fast for it. He dodged the bite, turned around, and kicked the demon in the head with its hind legs.

The demon was knocked backwards and fell to the ground. It was struggling to get back up, and Erol took this opportunity to charge at it. He leaped into the air and landed on the demon's head. It was trying to shake the unicorn off, but Erol held on tight.

Erol fired another rainbow beam from his horn, and the demon screamed in agony.

I saw the abomination quickly mend its wounds and stand back up. The creature had an intense amount of regenerative abilities.

"How the hell do you kill that thing!?" I yelled at Erol.

"We need to aim for its head. It's where its core is located but it's well protected!"

I unsheathed my sword and readied my stance. "I'll distract it. You go for its head." I told Erol. I ran towards the demon and swung my sword at its legs. The demon swung its arm at me, and I dodged it. It was a powerful blow, and it nearly knocked me off my feet. The demon was relentless, and it swung at me again. This time, I blocked the blow with my sword. The demon's claws raked my arm, and I could feel the pain in my arm. I could see the blood dripping from the wound.

I swung my sword again, and I managed to cut the demon's leg. It screamed in pain, and it stumbled backwards. I was panting, and I could feel the exhaustion in my muscles.

Is this how all the demons are like moving forward!? I don't think I have enough energy to keep going on at this rate.

The demon lunged at me, and I barely managed to dodge its attack. I swung my sword again, but it didn't seem to do any damage. The demon was too strong for me to defeat. I was starting to get desperate. I couldn't keep fighting for much longer. I could feel my strength fading.

I noticed that Erol was about to strike the creature's head. He was charging up his rainbow beam.

'Come on Erol, you can do it.' I thought to myself.

The unicorn's horn began to glow with a bright, rainbow-colored light. The light grew brighter and brighter until it was almost blinding. Then, with a loud crack, the beam of light shot out of the unicorn's horn and hit the demon in the head. Its head split open and its black, slimy blood splattered everywhere. The demon let out a loud shriek and then its body collapsed to the floor. Its black blood was everywhere, and I could smell its foul stench.

Erol had done it! He had defeated the demon and he had saved me! I felt a wave of relief wash over me and I slumped to the ground, exhausted. I picked up the orb from its missing head, placed it in my pocket, and looked at Erol.

"Thank you, Erol. I don't think I could have done that without you," I said, panting.

"You're welcome," the unicorn said. He trotted over to me and nuzzled his nose against my cheek. I stroked his soft fur.

"Well then let's keep moving. There are more monsters to fight and puzzles to solve in this odd dungeon."
