Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

[Candice's POV]

The fire crackled and pop which is the subject of my sorrow glare. Ever since Bailey died, everything is so hectic and everybody has been cautious. It makes me so confused too but knowing that Lianne kept going wants to keep me going. I collected all my thoughts and stood up to look around. I got to start somewhere so I went around the place to look for a bit. What Chase said honestly did sound off for him. What did Bailey do to make him point her out like that. I put that thought aside since I reached to where I usually see Chase hang around.

"Hey Candice!" a voice interrupts my train of thoughts. I went out of focus to peer over my shoulder. It was Ace and Hayden. I grinned over to him so they could come over. They smiled back at each other and stood beside me.

"So what are you doing over here," Hayden asked as both of them looked over the place. It was kinda dark, only letting the sunlight lighting up the way. Ace trudged his way the mud. This place was like a room, not very sure if you can call it a room. I have seen Chase went in and out of it. Even though there is one thing that stood out to me, Bailey only went in there once, luckily I was about to catch it while I was helping set up the other camp. Also, when Lianne and Finn was said to been exploring the cave. That was the only time I didn't see Bailey anywhere, which was weird. I felt around for a metal door and motioned for both of them to come over.

"So this is what you were here for." Hayden picked up that hint. Ace ends up agreeing with him.

"I seen Chase hang around this spot for sometime for a while, it wouldn't hurt to check."

They both agreed as they helped pulled the door open. It was a bit heavy to pull, for a man like Chase this wasn't a hard thing to do for him. We are greeted with a cardboard scented air. The room was barely lit enough for us to see good but we used what I had at the time. The ray of flashlight leaned at one spot of the room to another. Ace shuffles around the room and Hayden follows along. The flashlight follows along the walls as minutes and minutes passes of looking over the room.

"Theres a lot around here." Hayden converses after the short period of silence. He looks over the place and occasionally sharing his findings to Ace. I grinned at their friendship along with how much everyone got along these past few days.

"Look over here. These papers looks like a bunch of notes." I walked behind him to look over at it. He flips over the papers to let us take a glimpse at it. There was a lot of words written on it so it'll take time for us to actually read it.

"Alright, let's take it" Ace tries to carefully fold the notes. The notes look like it was written by somebody, that could also be in the group. I scatter back over to the corner to resume what I am doing. I eye carefully at the papers around the table. I guess that there's more papers there is than other things around here.

"You think we'll find love notes around here" Hayden breaks the serious atmosphere and makes the room bursts into laughter. Ace give him a slight elbow as he plays along, looking for love notes. I continue searching over the stack of papers.

My legs grew tired along the way so I sat myself down after I complied a small stack for me to shuffle to while I am. I look over, reading every paper I shuffle through. Some of them are in different handwritings and some of them are just empty pieces of paper. It took me a while until I finally read through one that looks similar to what Chase had said back at the came. Just from reading the top half, it look likes this was written for Chase by someone else, could this be Bailey's? Earlier on, Ace priced together that Bailey is what he could be talking about. Something about if someone wasn't prying through his business. I try to keep my composure as I read through, it looks like that Bailey was really worried for him.

Hayden catches onto the emotions on my face as he heads over to take the papers out of my hand. I snap out and was interrupted by him gently slapping me on my shoulder. Ace was behind him just waiting for a moment for him to read the letter. He took. couple seconds to skim over before dropping his lowly smile, he hands the paper over to Ace for him to read before sitting by me.

He somehow read my thoughts as he continued to comfort me for a while, waiting for Ace. "This isn't any of our fault. This was between Chase and Bailey. Mostly, chase didn't want anybody to know about this."

"Based on this, she was trying to confront about the business that he was talking about. This letter isn't enough to tell what the business is. There has to be a letter that he had to write first before Bailey read that one." Ace breathed out a heavy sigh and walked back over.

"But if we do find whatever Chase was trying to keep to himself about, why would it end up with him killing Bailey over it?"

"This business that he is referring to must be super serious about it. This isn't the right thing to just murder someone over it," Hayden adds in. I did think over this for a minute, piecing things together like the notes we found.

"We already got the feeling also from Lianne that Chase would be the one who murdered Bailey. We already got this far. Now, we need to find actual evidence to prove him guilty."

I laid myself against the rock and looked back.

"How many letters do you think there is?" I asked out of concern.

They both pause for a bit before shrugging their shoulders. I didn't know also. It doesn't seem something that could continue for long, but it did continue. We went back to work searching the room till we tackle every spot.

"Well its been a while since we have found anything over here." Hayden slouches over the table. Seems like its tiring work. Ace shakes the paper in front of him before reading the papers in his hand.

"Looks like I have found it, there's a whole stack of these letters about the same thing." Ace hands over the stack of papers to me.

"Let's hope those are the last bit, we actually finished searching this room." Hayden splits away to step out of the room. I continue reading as I let my eyes focus on the words written. The tension was lifted off my shoulder for a second from reading this. We have found what we needed. I shook the dirt off the paper and ran out.
