Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2 Unexpected encounter

Have you ever had a moment in your life when something happened and you feel like saying "God, why me?" That is precisely what occurred on my way to school. It all started when...

"Ok, everyone. Have a nice day at school, work and whatever errands you have today." said Oliver.

"Can I go clubbing today Olive?" I asked, faking a cute expression.

"No!!!!!!!" was the stern reply I got from all four. My life is unfair. I was literally over fifty years old though I was stuck in the body of a twenty-two-year-old and I still can't go clubbing.

Ever since I could remember, I wasn't to allowed to go drinking, on dates, to clubs or anything remotely related to "fun". Very sad indeed.

"June darling. We love and you know that but please stop trying to go to clubs. Anything can happen, even though you are all grown up." said Terrance.

"I understand, guys. It's just that I wanted to be like other uni students."

I get the point that they were trying to protect me, but from what? Monsters?

"We get your plight but it's for your own good." added Spencer. A moment of silence washed over us as I tried to come to terms with all of this.

I just found it unfair. I was way older than your average uni student, but they treated me no worse than a baby. Big brothers, so sufferable!!

"Ok, tell you what little Star, we will let you go clubbing...." remarked Oliver all of a sudden and I sensed a catch.

"What's the catch Olive?" I asked tentatively. " We go together. Take it as a family outing. And the name's Oliver, you know with an r at the end."

"Really? We are going out? Together?" Not what I had wanted but better than naught.

"Yes we are, so boys clear you Friday nights. We are taking little Star to enjoy the night life." added Olive, yup still going to cut his name short. I ran and flung myself into Olive's arms and gave him a tight hug. "Thanks Olive. This means a lot to me."

"Seriously, why can't you pronounce it all the way?"

"Everyone calls you Oliver, only I can call you Olive" With a chuckle, Olive shook his head helplessly and handed me my lunch bag, yes he is the mother of the house. That is why he could decide on such matters. Anyway, after a little banter the twins drove me to school.

"Have a nice day at school lil lady "

"Why thank you fine gentlemen."

Did I mention that the twins are British fanatics? Mannerisms, eating habits and even dress code is all like the English. I wonder if Spencer has a hard time making for them clothes! They are super picky and particular.

So, uni an exciting time for all people that can attain this. Problem is, I just can't get excited with all that's going on around me. Thesis, internships, research papers. They all just aren't exciting anymore.

Yes, I speak like this because I have gone through this countless times. I have countless PhDs accumulated from over the years. For the boys apparently, the more qualifications you have the higher your chances of survival anywhere. True indeed but university just doesn't hit a bell anymore. And by the way, did I mention that I'm bullied?

Yeah, you'd think as an immortal I would know some martial arts (which I do know). It's just that I went through something that makes me freeze in times of terror. Call it trauma, mild PTSD, yeah whatever. I can fight back, I just can't. How does Spencer put it? "Once you fight the weak you are a loser through and through. We shouldn't use our gifts to bully the weak." Seriously, he should join a monastery and go 'Amitabh' all day, that monk!

Anyway, I don't have the greatest features for someone's who's been around for so long. The boys had actually suggested surgery, to which I strongly objected. I cannot go under the knife! Too many side effects and high chances of things going wrong. Anyway, I think the baby factory was out of good parts because my brothers are more beautiful and yes beautiful! Full lips, phoenix eyes, chiseled chin, my brothers are Greek gods. Especially the twins, but I am a pig next to them.

I'm really short for someone who has a gene of only tall people, both maternal and paternal sides. I'm 5"4, yes an hourglass shape, doe eyes and a small face. And I also have sensitive skin so I easily get breakouts (which I'm totally ok with. They help me hide me true self) Hence my looks make others pick on me. Anyway, it being a Wednesday, the days flew by until it was Friday morning.

With the later date in mind, I laid out a casual outfit though I was sure Spencer would change it all. The boys all said that they had to leave early so I was the only one in the mansion at that moment. Yes, mansion. Apparently they'd saved up to get it. Couldn't believe them but, I let it slide. Anyway, as I walked to uni, I absently observed my surroundings as I listened to some songs on the my mp3. I was looking for inspiration.

One of the things that makes my family so cool is our talents. Except being immortal, can learn anything of interest. I took up music to release grief after we lost our parents. Over the years I released a few hits that were really catchy and I kept on making music though I avoided the popular scene.

This is how I made my first friend, Zelda Banks.

It was at a concert and me and her were the opening acts so we just clicked after that but something has always made me believe she has more to her than what meets the eye.
