CHAPTER 3 – Trial 1
Unknown to Carmilla, something terrible had happened and Fearghal failed to let her in on it, allowing her to find out herself.
She could see everyone hiding as she headed towards Abaddon's room. She wasn't daft not to know. She knew something bad was happening.
Instantly, her once calm heart began to beat loudly in her chest.
'What is going on? Why are they scared?' As a demon, she could perceive their fear and the weight coming to her from that fear was too much.
Something bad had occurred. They were looking at her with pitying eyes. She did not understand until…
"AARRHHH!"
BADUM! BADUM!
She paused abruptly at the piercing sounds of the scream she heard. It was then her heart and mind registered what was going on.
'That voice, it belongs to only one person.' Carmilla thought. "ABADDON! Damn it!"
Without a second to spare, she took to her heels, running towards his room to find him.
***
On the other hand, he had been taken away from his room and to the dungeon where he was being tortured.
"Aaahhh!"
The sizzling sound of burning flesh could be heard as well as the smell that came with it. He had not done anything, yet he was made to go through this.
"Confess, Abaddon. Confess your wrong deeds and traitors acts," Conlaed yelled at him.
"Confess what? I did nothing."
"Ah, I see you have not been broken yet. Great! Continue with the torturing until he speaks the truth."
He turned around, facing the prison doors and ready to excuse himself when he heard an angry yell.
"WHO DARES TO TOUCH HIM?" Conlaed's eyes widened but as quickly as that came, I dimmed bac to their usual hue as he waited for the person to present herself before him.
"ABADDON! ABADDON!" As soon as she rounded the corner, she came to an abrupt halt. Her eyes had seen something she did not wish to see.
Her eyes had witnessed a wrong scene. Just looking at him with the blood pooling at his side and several burnt marks on it almost made her intestine fall out.
She could not believe this was happening so soon. What had he done and why…?
Quickly, she turned her head to the side as her eyes locked on the one giving the orders. "CONLAED," No longer was it her calm voice that he heard. Rather, something more, something deep and dangerous.
"HOW DARE YOU, TOUCH HIM?" she yelled again.
"This is no place for a lady to be, princess," he mockingly said, eyeing her as one who did not matter.
That single act had infuriated her and she stormed into the prison with speed beyond what they knew of her. Before Conlaed knew what was happening, a heavy punch landed on his face, loud and sharp, pushing him back till his back hit the wall of the prison.
BANG!
The walls shook but she was not done, not yet at least.
SWOOSH!
Like a flying arrow, Carmila moved swiftly and hit Conlaed on his chest, causing him to fall back against the wall again and clutch at his chest.
"You dare say that again? Huh? Conlaed, I dare you to say that again. UNTIE HIM THIS INSTANT!" She yelled out her order to the soldiers standing by and watching.
"Do not dare," Conlaed groaned out, causing the soldiers to halt in their place.
Right now there was a bone of contention on who to follow. Both of them were highly placed demons. While one was the second in command of the Legions, the other had the favour of the demon king and she was a commander for another army.
"I said, UNTIE HIM!" Carmilla hollered again.
"Don't you dare? Take one step forward and I would ensure a proper decapitation of your body."
That was it, Conlaed's threat won and they all took a step back, waiting and watching to see who would win this battle.
"Are you out of your minds?" Carmilla asked, turning her head to the side. Her heart broke when she saw Abaddon again. "He is the ward of Lord Kaan and the next in line for the throne. You still stay there thinking of what to do? Untie him this instant and I would forgive this rubbish. IF you do not, I would obtain the grant from Lord Kaan and ensure not just you but your families be beheaded and torn apart right before your eyes and offer your sorry souls to my father."
Okay, a bigger threat. Without a second to spare, they all moved forward and quickly released Abaddon, helping him to his feet.
"What are you doing, Carmilla? You are siding with a traitor."
"If there is any traitor, it is you and not him. What reason does he have to betray his father?"
"For the throne. We have word and proof, he has been conspiring with the physician and some others to poison the king and cause his health to fail."
"How small-minded are you? You are supposed to be his friend and second in command."
"Hmm, to a traitor, tsk… it seems as though you are the one out of your damn mind."
"The nerve you have, Conlaed. You of all people should know what he can do and cannot do. How dare you betray that friendship, huh? How dare you?"
"I see you want to be portrayed as an aid to a traitor. If you still love your lovely neck and head Carmilla, I suggest you leave this prison now or else, I would report to the Demon Lord of your conspiracy in his insurgency."
That was it. Carmilla was done talking to a fool with no sense.
She let go of his shirt that she had been gripping ever so tightly go. However, rather than turning around to leave, she made a 180-degree turn and before he knew it, she had spun around again while Conlaed wasn't looking and…
GISH! GISH!
