Chapter 6 - The Demon In Him

CHAPTER 6

"But my Lord, you cannot turn a blind eye to this, you know," Fearghal added.

"Of course I can and I would," Kaan responded.

Yes, he knew the gravity of what was done, but he was still a father and this was the same boy he taught all he knew and gave all of his knowledge to. How then could he bring himself to order his execution?

"You can, yes, you can, my Lord but have you forgotten that words spread like wildfire? What would the people think of their Demon Lord if he cannot take action against a traitor? They would deem you as weak."

Kaan closed his eyes again. He was trying his best to shut out Fearghal and more importantly, hoping the demon side in him not hear him, lest his anger be kindled and worse, he actually does unto his son what was wanted of him.

"You cannot shy away from this, my Lord. Yes. You love him as a son but then as the Demon Lord, your duty is first to your people before any other thing. I never knew that my Lord and King would be so weak at heart. Where is the demon in you/ Where is the Lord we fear and where is the Lord that the demons cower under?"

The more Fearghal spoke, the more Kaan tightened his eyes. He did not want to hear it.

"You of all people said so yourself. We are demons and we do not have any emotions."

That was true. He always admonished them thus, saying that if they want to be a full-fledged demon, they would have to cut aside any tie with family. You need to be ruthless.

"Be you a father or a son or daughter. Our duty is first to our clan. If we start birthing emotions, then the world would see us as weak. Besides, what difference would there be between us and the so-called angels?"

"We are different still. I just…"

"My Lord, might I remind you that when you were being poisoned, he did not think of you as a father then? All he wanted was to speed up the process and become king. He was ruthless, so why now do you think of showing him mercy? Or is it that the poisoning has turned you soft and weak rather than…"

SWOOSH!

THUD!

"Aaaahh!" Feraghal groaned out loud. He had not expected it. One minute he was trying to provoke the Demon Lord and the next, he found himself be thrown across the room and pinned against the wall with just the raise of the demon Lord's hand.

Rather than feel angry at what was done to him, a sinister smile appeared on his face. Yes, he had succeeded in riling up the Demon Lord.

But as quickly as that smile came, that was how it disappeared. The next thing he knew, the dark crystals holding him to the wall began to rise and move all over his body, covering him up.

He moved his body but was too stiff to actually get anything done. He tried again, still the same result.

He could already see the black crystals climb up his chest, heading for his neck. His eyes widened. That was one of the cruel ways the Demon Lord could use to kill a victim.

At first, he thought he only wanted to keep him there to show he still got his powers in him but when he saw that the black crystals began to spread, he had a change of mind. "My Lord."

"Shut up!" Kaan continued, his outstretched hand now folding into a fist as the crystals on Feraghal continue to tighten. He did not stop one bit.

His eyes turned red and they shone with a dark red glint in them as his hand was surrounded with an even darker glow. Main looking at him now, there was no mistake if one was told he was the demon lord, compared to the sorry state he was in a while ago.

"My…"Coughs, "Lord…" Fearghal managed to voice out as his eyes turned red from the lack of breath he was having.

He was being choked while his bones were crushed under the heavy influence of the crystals. Regardless, Kaan did not stop. He knew crushing his bones would not kill him.

After all, he was a demon and he could heal but he needed to prove to him that he was no weakling and that no one, no matter who had the audacity to talk to him in such a manner.

Minutes passed and the torture continued.

Apparently, Fearghal stopped trying to call his name to save himself whatever air was left in him and prevent himself from actually choking to death.

A demon scared of death… how lovely.

"Look at you, reduced to nothing. You fear death too, right?" Kaan mocked but there was no smile to indicate such on his face. "Let this be a warning to you and everyone. No one dares call their Demon Lord a weakling else, they would face something even more terrible. Understood?"

Fearghal did not answer. It was not because he did not want to answer but because at this point he could not speak nor even move his head or body.

"I said, understood?" He tightened his fist.

Sounds of shattering bones could be heard the next instant as a piercing cry, sprung forth.

Fearghal was in so much pain at this moment. All he could wish for was someone to interfere else he actually goes away.

It was after he yelled out in anguish that Kaan finally smiled. "Perfect. That is more like it." He dropped his hand and went back to sit ting down.

Satisfied by what had just happened. Yes, Fearghal had succeeded in waking the demon in him but he paid the price to actually see that happen.

CRACK!

Son the crystals began to crack and the next thing…SHATTER!

THUD!
