After our first class was over, Chloe and I went to our lockers which were fairly close. We threw in what we no longer needed and grabbed what we did. I tried my best to hurry before she began to ask question or something.
"So~ you were going to tell me all about your date with Jayden, right?" she jump right in front of me. I jumped and almost fell over onto my ass, but instead I just had to fall right into someone. Chloe's eyes seemed to beam with light. I turned around to see Jayden was the one standing behind me.
"Oh shit, i'm sorry. I really didn't mean to do that." I was ready to literally pass away. He extended his hand to me, but surprisingly it wasn't to hit me.
"Don't even worry about it. C'mon get up already, or you'll be late to your next class." I hesitantly took his hand and he pulled me to my feet. I couldn't help but smile.
"I thought the nice guy act was a not-at-school kind of thing. Look at you changing up on me. What's your game?" I crossed my arms and gave a sarcastic expression. He gave a chuckle followed by an eye roll and leaned in close.
"This is an all day everyday thing from now on and you won't be able to get rid of me. I'm going to annoy the shit out of you...until you agree to be my friend and actually mean it. We're both in for a ride. You've proven to be very stubborn, so we're doing this the hard way. Anyway~ you should get to class. The bells going to ring soon. We'll talk later." and just like that he slipped past me and walked away. What an ass. I guess he was right about me being stubborn, but could he really blame me for it after what he's done to me? Either way I was going to have to deal with this situation. I guess this is the way that I have to deal with him. It won't be easy, but i'll survive as long as he's happy. I turned on my heel and walked to class with Chloe.
Later that day While in the gym's locker room, I decided change in the stalls. The last time I was in this room I got beat up. I'd rather be in here. Once I was done dressing I came out of the stall and walked up to the mirror. I looked at myself and sighed as I ran my hand through my hair. I looked like shit. I have bags under my eyes, my hair's gotten way to long and i've gotten pretty skinny. I dug into my backpack and grabbed one of the many hair-ties that I packed and pulled my hair back into a loose ponytail. I look like a girl...with a hangover. I hate this class. Everyone is either going to ignore me or their going to try and hang out with me because they pity me.
"You shouldn't scowl like that or you'll get frown lines and damn man you need a haircut." I look in the the mirror to my right and see Jayden leaning against the stalls. I roll my eyes and turn around to face him.
"You didn't have a problem with it this morning. Why are you in here instead of out there with those assholes that you call your friends? Aren't they super important to you? I mean you tried to kill me because Chloe punched Jaison in the face." I didn't wait for him to say anything. I grabbed my things and walked away towards my locker. Of course he followed behind me.
"Hey! Don't be like that. Listen, Jaison and the guys had nothing to do with what happened. They don't even know that it was me that did that to you. You don't have to hold anything against them." I shoved my things into my locker and slammed it shut. I whipped around to face him once again.
"Do you really think I give a shit about whether they had anything to do with it or not. They're assholes and so are you. I didn't reject your friendship just because I hate you. I did it because you scare the fuck out of me. Even before this all happened, I was completely terrified of you and I still am. Truth be told...I don't want anything to do with you." he stood there motionless. His expression was blank and he was completely silent. I froze on the spot. I'm a dumbass. I was so content on keeping him happy to save my ass and now look at what i've done.
"What if I could prove to you that I want to be your friend?" his voice startled me.
"How would you do that?" I was actually interested in this idea for some stupid reason. If this can fix whatever is between us then i'm all ears.
"Graduation is in three months. Give me until then to prove it. If you still feel the same even then, i'll leave you and your friend alone. It'll be as if we never met." I didn't think he was going to say that. I thought was going to say that we should talk or some dumb shit like that. He wants me to spend three months with him!? The upside is that he'll leave me alone after.
"You promise? After this you'll leave me alone?" he let out a sigh and nodded his head.
"I swear." he and I stood in silence for a moment. I don't know why but I felt calm at this moment. Everything seemed to melt away and I couldn't see anything but him. I let go of the breath that I hadn't realized I'd been holding in.
"What are you two still doing here? Hey, is that a girl!?" I rolled my eyes.
"No! I'm not a girl! You literally watched me walk in here. Why not say something then if you thought I was a girl?" there is something wrong with the teachers in this school.
"Sorry. You guys get out there. I have to lock the door." Jayden nods his head and the two of us head through the door. Once we were into the gym I split from him and headed to the bleachers. Before I could reach them, Jayden grabbed my arm and started to pull me along with him.
"Hey! What's your deal!? Let go of me!" he ignored me and kept going. Once we were where he wanted he pulled me in front of him and held my shoulders to keep me from running away. Standing in front of us was Jaison and two other guys. I had to literally look up at them. These guys are giants.
"Um...hi." I lifted my hand a bit and gave a quick wave. This is terrifying. I never come near this group. Chloe, please help me.
"Who's this? She's small as hell." I hear Jayden start to laugh behind me. I elbow him in the side before extending my hand to Jaison.
"Hi. I'm Alex and i'm not a girl." he and his friends give me weird looks. Then he grabs my hand and gives it a shake.
"Sorry, dude. You might want to get a haircut, because that girly face is permanent." I used my other hand to pinch his. He pulled his hand away and looked at it as if I tore his skin off.
"I don't like you. I'm being nice. Be glad i'm not Chloe. She'd have punched you...again." I couldn't help but chuckle as I walked away.
"So you're that boy that was with her that day? Heard you got your ass beat that same day. I wouldn't act so high and mighty after a beating like that. Watch your mouth little girl." he and his idiot friends started laughing and pointing at me. I turned around and walked over to him slowly. I got as close as I possibly could and then I kicked him in the shin as hard as I could. He screamed and fell to the floor.
"Oh no! This little girl just made you hit the ground. You should watch your mouth, because according to what i've seen you're afraid of little girls." I look to my left to see Jayden smiling. I made a confused expression at him.
"It's nice to see that you guys get along." we both began to laugh. I don't know why it was funny, but it was.
We ended up spending all of gym class together talking about any and everything that came to mind. Mostly about food though. Soon the bell rang and the class was over. Maybe it was something about that class because once it was over I went back to hating Jayden. We went our separate ways after that. It is now lunch, but I never go to the cafeteria. I always meet Chloe at the library so we can read manga with her gossip group before our last class. For some reason the last hour of school seemed to speed by. Lunch was over in a flash and like usual I got a lot of reading done while the girls didn't because they were busy asking a million questions about Jayden and our so-called date. The bell rang and I hurried away to my last class. I slid into my seat in my Chinese class. I took out my notebook and pencil to take notes just as I always did. Everything was just as it always was, but it felt so different. I did something different that i'd never done before and now everything i've done since has felt weird. I talked to Jayden and kicked someone today. I changed my normal and did something out of the ordinary for me. It felt so weird to have turned off the auto pilot. Now that I think about it, it's been off since this morning. I left the house way too early and that's when the weird stuff started to happen. The weirdest thing being that dream I had. The dream of Jayden and I in the park. It came true. It didn't happen the way it did in my dream, but it happened. I woke up and he was there. It was scary as hell. He didn't seem to know that I would be there, but I knew that he was coming. Something like that had never happened before.
"Alex! Are you okay? Your nose is bleeding!" I looked done and saw that my desk was covered in blood. My nose was gushing blood. I grabbed my nose and stood so fast that my chair fell over.
"Can I please go to the nurses office?" she nodded her head. I grabbed my things and ran out of the room. Great! Why is this happening? I rushed into the nurses office and asked for help. For a moment she stood in shock then she sprung into action. She told me to lean forward and hold a towel over my nose. I took some time to text Chloe and tell her where I was. She said that he was going to fake period cramps so she could come see me. I was obviously encouraging this. I did not want to be alone when I bled to death. For some reason I also texted Jayden about it. It just seemed like something I should do. He didn't text me back so I just left it at that. A moment later Chloe came through the door and right behind her was Jayden.
"Look who I found in the hallway." Chloe came in and sat down next to me. She grabbed her stomach and started to grone once she saw the nurse re-enter the room. She looked at Jayden and then at the two of us and sighed.
"What are you two here for?" she plopped down in her seat. Jayden put his hands up.
"I just came to take Alex home. He said he was bleeding." I looked over at him then down at the floor. He came to take me home? That's so nice of him.
"Oh thank god. I have no idea how to get his nose to stop bleeding. Take him. What about you girl?" she directed her attention to Chloe.
"Cramps! I feel like i'm going to die! It hurts so bad!" the nurse sighs again, but this time with relief.
"That means you both can go home. Great! Do you need me to call someone for you?" she reaches for the phone.
"No. I can take her home as well." this time everyone looks up at Jayden. He just smiles and shrugs.
"Aww~ thank you, Jayden. You're so nice. Let's go then. Alex looks like a crime scene." I roll my eyes and the three of us leave. Jayden and I got in the car while Chloe went back to class to get her things.
"Sorry to make you take us." he looked over at me with confusion written all over his face.
"What do you mean 'make' me? I wanted to do this. It doesn't matter anyway. I was going to take you home after school either way." I chuckled.
"I guess you're right." We sat in silence for a moment. Chloe threw her bag into the car and then jumped into the back seat. She looked at me then at Jayden.
"What were you two doing while I was gone, huh?" she made a smug face as if she knew something that we didn't. How annoying.
"How many times do I have to tell you!? He's not my boyfriend! We're not doing anything, because we're not together!" she didn't like the sound of that. I guess I shouldn't have raised my voice. She sat back in her seat and crossed her arms. I did the same. Jayden just sat in silence for a moment before starting the car and pulling out of the school parking lot. The drive was completely silent. No one said a word. I just stared out of the window the entire time. We dropped Chloe off first.
"Hey, Chloe? I'm sorry that I yelled at you!" she turned around to look at me.
"Don't worry about it. I know you're stressed out and I was being weird so forget about it. We're cool." then she turned back around and disappeared behind the gate. Now it was just Jayden and I sitting in the car.
"Your turn. Let's get you home." I nodded my head in agreement and then sat back in my seat. I only lived down the street so it was a quick ride.
"See you tomorrow, Jayden." I reached for the door, but he grabbed my arm.
"Not yet. Don't go." I turned to face him. He leaned over towards me and really got close. We sat like that for god knows how long, but in that time nothing happened. His grip on my arm loosened but I sat there just staring back at him.
"I should go inside." he nodded but still didn't let go. We both seemed to have forgotten that my nose was bleeding and that we were way too close for comfort. Out of nowhere someone knocked on the window. We both looked over my shoulder to see who it was and of course it was Alice. I pulled away from Jayden and opened the door.
"Alex, why are you home? And who is that?" I looked over at Jayden and decided to brush off her question.
"My nose is literally bleeding, mom. Look at my clothes." she looked at my shirt with disgust and grabbed my arm. She pulled me out of the car and slammed the door behind me. I waved goodbye to Jayden as she pulled me into the house. I'm not going to hear the end of this one. She's going to keep me home tomorrow and call the school saying i'm sick because of what happened two weeks ago. Even so, my mind kept going back to Chinese class. I was thinking about my dream and then this nosebleed happened. What the actual hell is going on with me?
