I became uneasy as we sped down a few more streets. Where is he taking me. I have literally never come down this way in my entire time of living in this neighborhood.I looked around as best I could at the things speeding by. I wanted a good description of my surroundings if this goes south and I have to call the police.
"Um...where exactly are we going?" as if he didn't care how clearly the fear in my voice was, he sat back in his seat and focused on the road.
"Don't freak out on me. I need to go home and shower. I was going to do this before I went to go get you, but you just showed up so now you get to come along. My place isn't far from yours so it would have been better the way I planned it out, but i'll just roll with it." I guess there wasn't anything to really freak out about. At least one of his parents should be home so he'll have to behave. This is fine. The car came to a halt and we both exited the car. His house seemed a lot bigger and more expensive than mine. His parents must have good jobs.
"C'mon. We'll be in and out." I nodded my head in agreement and followed behind him into the house. As soon as I stepped inside I could smell honey. There was a short hall that led into the family room. In there sat a short, milky white skinned woman with long black hair. With one look I knew she was Asian. She was beautiful. She turned our way and gave a warm smile.
"Hi, sweetie. You're a bit early today. Who's the little guy behind you?" Her accent was almost non-existent. You could easily tell that she's been in America for a long time.
"Hey, mom. This is my friend Alex. I came back to shower so I won't be long." she gave a nod of her head and then he turned my way. "Come on, we're going upstairs." I nodded my head and he walked past me.
"Oh, wait sweetie! Your dad called. He said that he got you something nice on his business trip and that you'll really like it." Jayden didn't seem interested in talking about his dad.
"Thanks mom." he walked away with a bit of an annoyed look on his face. I guess his mom saw it because she made a seemingly sad expression before flashing me a bright smile. I quickly walked behind Jayden to wherever he was going. Upstairs he entered a room down the hall and then peeked out to see if I was still there. I gave a wave to show him I came along. Once I was in the room I noticed that it was in fact his bedroom. For the expensive look of the house, his room was really bland. It kind of reminded me of mine. There were no posters, the walls were white and there was a really messy night stand next to his bed. Getting closer I noticed that the sheets were actually pretty expensive silk.
"So you're living it up in this house, huh? I'm not going to stumble upon something I wasn't supposed to right? I just want to know...in case you're actually a mob family." he rolled his eyes with a chuckle and walked over to what I assume is a closet.
"If you're curious, you might want to stay out of my drawers. What you may find...has nothing to do with us being a mob family, but you would regret "stumbling upon" it." I didn't even have to think about it. I already knew what he was talking about.
"Good advice. I will heed your word." for a moment we just looked at one another, before he turned away to grab an outfit.
"You stay here, for now. I'm going to shower and then we can hit up that coffee place you like." I nodded my head and sat down on the bed. He grabbed his things and headed out of the room. Once he was out of sight I fell back onto the bed and let out a heavy sigh. That was way too much stress for just one morning. I honestly thought I was being kidnapped. I couldn't help but feel a wave of relief wash over me. I rolled over onto my chest and pulled out my phone. It was 6:36 and had three text and two missed calls from Chloe. She was on her normal bullshit, asking me if Jayden and I were on another morning date. I quickly called her phone, because at this point I have to say something about it. She answered right away.
"Hey! Finally calling me back, with details I hope." she gave her annoying horse laugh that I still don't have the heart to say anything about.
"No, i'm not calling to say that we went on a date. I'm calling to tell you to stop spreading rumors about the two of us. For the last time and I do mean the last: WE ARE NOT DATING! He's not my boyfriend and i'm tired of you telling people and asking me questions about stuff like that. You're supposed to be my friend." I was so annoyed and immersed in my anger that I hadn't noticed that she had gone completely silent.
"I-i'm sorry that you feel that way. I now that you've liked him for a while, even if you deny it. I thought if we talked about it you would ask him out or realize what an asshole he is and forget about him. All the things I was saying were t show you that he would never do any of those things for you, because he's self absorbed and could never love you the way you deserve." she was right. Of course she was right, but only about that part. This made me even more angry.
"So instead of saying it straight up, you tell all your friends about it and then pester me about it? How does that make any sense!? I get you're trying to be a good friend, but i'm sure I could have done without the constant annoyance. We talked about this the yesterday, but you just came back with it the next morning! You never listen to me!" I could hear her sigh into the phone.
"What are you saying then? Do you not want to be friends anymore?" oh my god, she is so frustrating. When did I say that?
"That is not what I said and you know that. See!? That right there is why I prefer guys. You women...so emotional." she giggle and then sniffled. Jesus Christ, shes crying.
"Dude! you had me scared tha-"
"Alex, you're messing up my sheets laying like that." I whipped my body around and sat up so quick that I almost slipped of the bed. Damn silk.
"Oh shit! Jayden, don't do that. You literally made zero noise! I almost had a heart attack!" I took a moment to catch my breath only to lose it again when I realized he was only wearing a towel. "Dude, where the hell are your clothes? Why are you walking around naked!?"
"Did you say he's naked!? Hold on are you at his house!? Alex you-" I took the liberty of hanging up and throwing my phone in my bag. He just stood and watched me. I tried my absolute best not to look at him.
"I guess I didn't really help your argument, did I? I mean neither of us really did." I nodded my head while keeping my eyes down. If I looked up at him I wouldn't be able to look away. Honesty he may be an asshole but he is so damn sexy. I always thought he looked to good to have been an american. Seeing that his mother is Aison makes way more since. If that wasn't the answer than the only other explanation is that he is a figment of my imagination and everyone is just playing along with me out of pity.
"I guess we kind of screwed up with that one. She was already trying to get us together, so I know for a fact that she isn't going to let this go...like ever. Anyway~ hurry up and get dressed. You're the one who ordered the drinks last time and I don't know what it's called, so you will be ordering again. Now chop chop!" he let a soft chuckle that made want to die. I don't know how more of this I can take.
"You got it." I turned away so as not to look at him, no matter how tempted I was. He quickly dressed and told me when it was safe to look. He laughed at me for it, but i'd like to think he'd rather me look away than attack him like the horny tornado that I am. I wasn't amused. We went back downstairs where his mother was. It didn't look as if she'd move an inch but you could tell that she got up. She had a cup of tea sitting in front of her and todays news paper in her hands. Once she noticed us she gave a big smile. "We're heading out mom. I'll see you after school." she nodded her head and then her eyes darted my way.
"It was so nice meeting you." she folded her news paper in half and stood up. For a second she just stood there before making her way over to me and extending her hand.
"It was nice having you young man. I do hope that you will come again." I grabbed her hand and gave a gentle shake and then let go.
"I'll be sure to come again." I looked over to see Jayden with a wide smile. The hell is that about? He's been acting strangely. Yesterday in his car was the weirdest part. I thought for a moment that he was going to kiss me. The way he got close and just stared at me, I thought it might happen. For some crazy reason I wanted it to happen. Jayden tousled my hair and the wrapped his arm around my shoulders. He gave me a look that said absolutely nothing. He rolled his eyes obviously because I didn't get it. He didn't say anything and just tugged me towards the door. I waved to his mom and we quickly fled to the car. Once in the car he looked over at me.
"Excuse my mom's weirdness. She's like that with literally everyone." he looked forward as he started the car and pulled of down the street, "Anyway, that coffee place you like is a ways away so you can just sit back and relax." I nodded my head and leaned back in the seat.
"You say relax, but I hear "take a nap" and you know that one leads to the other." he chuckled and gave me a sarcastic look before re-focusing his attention on the road. I laid my head off to the side and began to doze. Falling to sleep always felt weird for me, but today it felt even more so. It had been such a long morning in such a short amount of time. Once my eyes were closed and I began to drift off, there was nothing. Everything was dark and then, I saw myself. A younger version of myself. He looked up at me with an angry expression.
"Even after all of these years i'm still so weak. You haven't changed. You went out and found a new mommy and forgot about the one you already had. rof taht uoy lliw nrub ni lleh!" I culdn't understand the last part he said. I sounded really creepy. I stepped back, trying to get away from him, but when I looked again he was gone. I turned around to look for him and was faced with Alice.
"I wished so much that you would be my child, but you weren't. I detnaw ym nwo dlihc os dab, os I tnew tuo dna koot eno. She shouldn't evah thguof em! You're my son!" she lunged and grabbed me and then I opened my eyes. I was back in Jayden's car. The darkness had cleared and Jayden was by my side. He was staring at me in pure shock and worry.
"What happened? Where are we?" I looked over his shoulder and saw the cafe. I leaned back in my seat and sighed.
"Alex...why were you screaming in your sleep?" I quickly sat up and looked at him.
"I was screaming? Shit...I am so~ sorry. I'm just stressed, that's all." he shook his head and sat back in his seat. For a moment he looked around at people and then turned back to me.
"Is something wrong at home. I know you don't 100% trust me, but i've never seen someone scream in their sleep before. I tried to wake you, but you wouldn't budge...and then you started to scream. I need you to talk to me." he seem so worried. No more than that, he was scared. The look he was giving me, made me feel bad. I scared him and now he wants to know everything. What am I supposed to tell him. How do I reassure him when i'm terrified myself? What do I say now?
