Charlie's POV:
CHAPTER 7: Not A Playdate
"Would you like to go on a date with me?," the boy with the blue eyes asked me, his palms sweaty, his cute dimples showing in a nervous smile.
Gasps were heard all around me as I stood in the middle of the corridor, my books on the ground, eyes wide, ears not believing what I just heard.
He raised his head expectantly towards me.
"I-um-I...I...I d-d-don do-don," there were gasps, again.
"You don't wanna go?,"His smile dropped along with his head and it felt like the red rose in his hand withered away along with his expression.
"N-N-No," I quickly shook my head.
His expression dampened further if that was even possible and he half turned around.
"I mean y-ye-yes."
His expression lifted and I could have sworn to the good lord above that the rose in his hand bloomed once again.
Is it magical?
Like the one from Beauty and the Beast?
But he doesn't look like a beast.
"Hey! You okay?," he shook my shoulder, his shiny blue eyes looking at me with concern.
"Yeah, what were you saying?," I say, shaking my head.
"I asked you what time would you like to go?"
"Um I'll talk to my parents and call you?"
"That's cool," he rubbed his sweaty palm against his broze hair. It looked so soft and shiny. I wonder how it'd feel to touch.
"O-Okay, I'll go now, bye," I waved at him, giving him what I hoped is a cute smile.
"Byee," he waved back and gave me his dimpled smile.
Damn he's cute.
"Hey wait!," he called out after me ," Y-You forgot the rose."
"Oh yeah," he took my hand in his and gave me the rose.
"C-Can you leave my h-hand now?" I asked him when he didn't release my hand. His cheeks turned red as red as tomatoes as he mumbled an apology. I didn't know there was a way for him to be cuter but he proved me wrong.
Eep!!
The cute new boy asked me out on a date.
Wait he asked me out on my first date.
Dad will be so maaaaaddddd.
Mom will be so happy. She'll want to dress me up.
Ughh.
And Mia...oh Mia... She'll be mad if I didn't tell her right now.
I ran down the corridor, excited to tell Mia about my first date, only to bang my head against one of the lockers. I fell down on my ass, hard.
Owie.
I looked up to see Cassidy smirking at me. She flipped her hair and looked at me, up and down before sneering.
"What part of "Stay away from the new boy. He is mine" did you not get?," she yapped at me.
Huh?
"I think I told everyone that I have dibs on the cute new boy," she snarled again.
Damn girl, what are you? A dog?
A bitch, that's what she is.
I snickered mentally.
She bent down to my level and moved to slap me but before she could go on with it, I saw Mia grabbing her hair and pulling her away from me.
Aww. I was about to hold her wrist and slap her back, like in that K-drama mom watched.
"What the fuck are you doing, bitch?," Cassidy cried out, holding her hair.
"No one messes with my baby, Okay?," Mia yelled in her face.
"You wanna fight? I'll show you how to fight," Cassidy shouted out loud.
Before I knew it, her minions moved towards Mia but before they could hurt her, I grabbed her and pulled her out of the crowd.
"Look Cassidy, first of all, if you like someone, go ask him out. Secondly, if you want to call dibs on him, at least let him know so that he doesn't ask anybody out. Thirdly, don't you ever dare to even think about bullying me or Mia. Lastly, whoever the heck you asked to tell everyone that you have dibs on Aron, didn't do their job properly," I let out a deep breath while nodding to myself ,feeling proud and put my fists on either side of my waist.
She whipped her face in Leah's direction, one of her minions who looked away with her head down.
"Woohoo! You go, girl!," Mia shouted.
I took Mia's hand in mine and dragged her out of the school corridor.
As soon as we got out, Mia smacked me on the head.
"Hey! What was that for?!" I cried out while rubbing the back of my head.
"That was for not telling me about being asked out for the first time ever!,"
"And this is for letting that bitch hurt you," she said while hitting me again.
"And this is for stopping me from showing that brat her place," she raised her hand to hit me again but I moved out of the way just in time and Mia fell on her face.
"Ok! Ok! No need to hit me, " I huffed out as she looked up at me from the ground. She sat up, pouting at me as we started walking back home.
"Seriously though, I should've been the first person to know about YOUR FIRST DATE!!!," Mia yelled in my ear.
"Why are you SO LOUD!!!," I yelled back at her.
"You know you love me," She gave me her cheeky smile.
"Biggest mistake of my life," I muttered under my breath which earned me another smack.
"So what are you going to say?," Mia looked at me expectantly.
"Well I already yes but I have to ask my mom and dad. Mom is going to be ecstatic, embarrassingly ecstatic and dad, well, he'll understand," I said, nodding my head.
•••••••••
"NOO!! IT'S A NO. YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITH A GUY!!!," Dad yelled.
"But-, " Mom started.
"No. No. No. The answer is no," Dad shouted," See, this was a bad idea. I already knew it was a bad idea."
"What was?," Mom asked, confused.
"Letting her grow up!!," Dad cried out.
I rolled my eyes. Mom gave dad a weird look.
"Listen to me, honey-" Mom started again, only to be cut off.
"No, I don't want to hear anything. No means no. I am not-"
"WILL YOU SHUT UP!!? If I hear the word "No" again, I swear to god I'm going to kill you," Mom yelled causing dad to put his finger on his lip.
You go, mom!!
"She's going on her first date and we should support her. Letting your children have their own space when they grow up is a part of good parenting," Mom said.
I nodded, in full support of my mother while dad scowled.
"Don't worry, sweet pea. I'll talk to his mom and we'll decide what time you guys can go out and come back. It can't be over three hours. Also, we'll be there to support you," Dad's face brightened up at Mom's words.
What??
"Mom!! It's a date, not a playdate!! You can't go with us. You know what, I'll just not go," I reached for the stairs.
"Hey!! I was just kidding but you do have to tell us what time you'll come back home and it has to be before 8. Also, text me every hour. Okay? And remember that we trust you." Mom said, pointing her finger at me and dad once again scowled at her.
"Yeah, yeah. I know," I rolled my eyes at her before making my way upstairs.
That's Mom language for "Don't do anything stupid or we won't let you out of the house until you are at least 30."
"Also mom, thanks for everything" I said while looking at dad pointedly.
Mom gave me a kiss on the forehead and I returned it before finally going to my room.
I exhaled a deep breath. At least, there will be no drama when I tell John about my first date.
Oh my god, I have got to tell him about it.
He will be so happy for me. I'm finally going out on my first date. That too with the cute new boy. I sat on my desk, writing.
Dear John,
Guess what's going?
It's me! On a date. I'm going on my first date!!! There's this cute new boy in my grade and he asked me out today. He had this red rose in his hand. I think it was magical. And he has these shiny blue eyes. Oh my gosh, he's so cute. He also had a dimple on his cheek that took my heart out my chest. Plus, he's so polite.
I drooled, remembering his face. Darn, that face.
I have so many questions I want to ask.
Don't worry, it won't be like the last time.
I shuddered as I remembered the questions I asked him the last time. But can you blame me? I didn't know what I was writing.
First of all, what do you do on your first date?
Should we hold hands?
What if he kisses me??
I think I'll faint.
Mia said that first date usually mean hitting the mall or hanging out in groups or something along those lines.
What if he invites his friends?
I don't want that.
That'll be such a bummer.
He said that we'll go to the mall and then to the park.
What should I wear?
Should I wear pink?
I love pink but what if he doesn't like it?
What colors do boys like?
How should I do my hair?
Do I go casual or classy?
I don't know what that means but I think I read that in my mom's magazine.
I'll have to read the whole article to understand what that means.
More and more reading.
I hate reading.
Ughhh
Hey! What about your first date?
What was it like?
Where did you take her?
Did you kiss her?
Did she kiss you?
I don't know why but that hurt me. Is it normal? Friends don't get hurt when your friends kiss others. Do they?
What was your first kiss like?
Is it good?
Is it bad?
How do you know if you're ready to kiss?
Should I kiss him?
Ugh, I don't know anything.
I need a guide. A guide to your first date. Is that a thing? Do you have a book like that?
If yes, send it to me.
Also there's this one girl in my school, Cassidy, she says she's got dibs on the cute new guy. Is that a thing? Can you do that? If so, I call dibs on you. You aren't allowed to ask anyone out and don't let anyone ask you out, Okay?
I let out a sigh of relief. That's good. That way he won't be able to date or kiss another girl.
Yeah, that's it.
That's such a great idea.
Why didn't I think of it earlier.
Dumbhead.
And last but not the least, tell me if you have a problem. And take care of yourself until I come over there and take care of you.
I love you.
Jane ❤❤
I folded the letter, put it in an envelope and put it in the postage meter in Dad's office. Then, I snuck out of my window and ran to the collection box. Well, technically, it's not sneaking out if your mother watches you fall from the window and shouts at you to sneak out of the door next time through the balcony before going back to sleep. I took a deep breath before quickly putting the letter in the box and running back home.
