Chapter 15 - 15. Lunch at Gallery (2)

"Excuse me miss, the car key?" A man politely but firmly approached Aubrey who had just gotten out of the car. He is Liam's driver assigned to take Aubrey's car to his Gallery. Aubrey got out of his car and handed the keys to William's driver.

Aubrey got into William's car and sat next to him.

"Is your gallery far from here?" Aubrey asked while buckled up.

"Quite far. Ready? Let's go now, Aubrey." Liam said hesitantly. His face flashed a smile of joy because he was able to take Aubrey to his gallery which displayed various kinds of his own paintings.

"Okay." Even though she and William are just pretending to be dating, there's nothing wrong with showing a little togetherness in front of William's employees so that women who are after William won't chase William back. And, her mission was completed without the need to wait three months.

William was driving the car at a moderate speed.

"Aubrey, do you have a boyfriend?" William asked but his eyes did not dare to look at the woman who had a firm and unpredictable personality.

"I seem to have said that I don't have a boyfriend," Aubrey replied with a face also not looking at her interlocutor.

"Oh, then, I don't have to worry about anyone getting angry. Hehehe…" William replied with a chuckle.

"Liam, let's finish these three months. I will return to focus on my career, and so will you. I'm helping you because my family is indebted to your family. However, I don't want to get married anytime soon." Aubrey replied splendidly.

Liam was silent and couldn't say anything else.

"This woman is different from most other women. Other women, when they hear the name The Knight, must be competing to become a prospective daughter-in-law or at least to be the girlfriend of The Knight's sons. But, Aubrey actually did not care and was not interested. Because for her, career is above all else." Liam muttered under his breath.

"Hmm, if I may know, why do you prefer a career?" Liam scratched the back of his neck every now and then.

"I want to work hard and have a lot of money so I can buy what I want. My late mother was a pure housewife who neither worked nor made any money. As my father's business got bigger, a seductive woman appeared and made my father forget about my mother. Because my mother trusted my father so much, my mother didn't care about the bad rumours circulating about my father and the seductress. And, when that reality became real, my mother fell ill and eventually died. And, the seductive woman is now a hostess in my own mother's house." Aubrey said telling her life story.

"That's why I don't want to rely on men to support me. I have to be independent so that men can't do anything to me." Aubrey stared at William at the end of his sentence. The man who was being stared at only smiled softly at that.

"I really didn't choose the wrong wife. She can match my desire to achieve my goals." Liam said in his heart.

"We have arrived." The car finally arrived at a very large area and the distance between the gate to the gallery was also quite far. Aubrey was amazed to see a place as large and barren as this from the outside but it turned out to be a painting gallery.

"You… the owner of this place?" Aubrey still can't believe that this innocent and sometimes childlike man actually has his own place of business.

"Yeah, I'm not a businessman like my two brothers. The ability I have is painting, and that I got from my mother. Let's go in." William waited for Aubrey who was still amazed to look around the front gallery grounds. This place is very wide, maybe even wider than the campus where she teaches.

Aubrey and William walked side by side towards the gallery. Several employees who happened to see them gaped in disbelief. Finally, their boss brought a woman walking into this place. Since this gallery was first opened, their boss has never brought a woman in, let alone walked together. Their admiration grew when they could see the woman William brought up close.

With blonde hair and bright blue eyes too, it turns out that all of that beauty is coupled with Aubrey's friendly attitude and always smiles at everyone she meets.

"Your gallery is vast and shady. I love this place." Aubrey answered spontaneously. William smiled at that.

"My office is on the second floor, would you like to come along?" William asked.

"Of course." Aubrey also followed behind the man with white hair.

"Hey, do you know who that girl is? The boss seems to like it." Neil asked.

"Huh, how do you know? Bringing a woman to work doesn't mean she's his girlfriend. You are too much." Stella left Neil calling her.

"Boss, is there anything I can help you with?" Stella chased after Liam and even blocked Aubrey who was standing right behind William. Aubrey, who saw the attitude of the unfamiliar woman, knitted her brows.

"Who is this woman? Why is her attitude so disrespectful at all?" Aubrey muttered to herself.

"Stella, by the way, this is my girlfriend. Her name is Aubrey. I took Aubrey for a walk in the gallery." Liam said as he spread one hand towards Aubrey with the intention of introducing himself. However, what was unexpected was that Aubrey actually approached William and put his arm around the tall man's waist in a childlike attitude sometimes. William was surprised to get Aubrey's reply like that.

"Hi, my name is Aubrey. I'm just dating William. Oh, what's your name?" Aubrey smiled sweetly meaningfully at Stella and Neil who jogged behind after him. Stella's face showed extreme jealousy.

"Welcome to the gallery, miss. My name is Neil. And, my friend's name is Stella." Neil represented Stella to get acquainted and bowed respectfully, instead of shaking hands. William looked confused at Aubrey's sudden embrace. In fact, Aubrey rubbed his shirt with a sweet smile and a seductive wink.

"Since when was this woman so aggressive? Where is the attitude of women who are rigid, cold, and don't like small talk." Liam muttered under his breath.

"Sorry, William and I have to go to his office immediately because our schedule is still very busy. Excuse me. Nice to meet you. Come on, honey, let's go inside." Aubrey said in a spoiled and tender voice to William who still didn't understand what Aubrey meant this time.

However, the man just agreed and replied with a happy smile. The two of them continued their journey to William's room, which was up the wide stairs and then reached the end of the second-floor stairs.

"Fuh, finally…" Aubrey let go of his arms around Liam's waist and slapped his palms together like he was cleaning up the leftover food debris on his hands.
