Chapter 12 - True Colors

Lucy's POV

To say I didn't understand Pat these days would be an understatement. I was totally confused by her moods. She was beginning to freak me out and I was really reconsidering whether I should continue being friends with her or not.

Sometimes she appeared pompous, sometimes humble, sometimes she appeared angry at me. Sometimes she talked to me other times she barely even looked at me. Only a month and a half into our friendship and I wasn't sure of it's future anymore.

'Do princesses behave this way? Maybe because they grow up in an environment where everybody bows to them they tend to feel self-entitled. "You know I don't understand Pat Nelly! I can't seem to place her, I mean like, what kind of a person is she? And above all she is secretive. Ever since the time she met Kenneth she changed." I told Nelly.

"Mmhh, girl I would say be careful with that one. I never stopped having this uneasiness about her from day one. I don't know what it is about her but something about her spells trouble. Not that I have anything against her but I just think she is on a mission. Who takes a transfer from their home to a far away place just two months after the semester started?" Nelly asserted.

Her assertions weren't entirely wrong but maybe we are just thinking too much about this. "I don't know Nel, maybe we are just making a mountain out of a mole-hill?" I shrugged. "Don't say I didn't warn you when she snatches your man. What if that is her mission here? Why the sudden change after meeting Ken? Stop being naïve for once Luce, open your eyes and shine them well." Nelly my hot headed friend started planting doubts in my head.

Just as we were speaking there was a knock at the door. I went to open it and saw the subject of our discussion right there. "Oh hi Pat, it's you?" I greeted her. "Hi Lucy, yes it's me. Can I come in?" she asked and I let her in.

"Speak of the devil and the devil appears." Nel whispered but I'm certain that if I heard her, Pat heard her also. I felt a little embarrassed. I hate tensions and altercations. I love peace so I hate inciting one another. Pat glanced at Nelly and said "Hi Nel." "Hi to you too." Nel responded clearly showing she wasn't impressed with Pat and she wasn't hiding it. I sighed in exasperation.

"Look, guys I know I haven't been myself lately. That's because I was going through deep emotional issues which I'm not ready to divulge right now. I know I've been a pain in the ass lately and I'm sorry about that." Pat said still standing up. Her face appeared remorseful but at the same time it appeared as though she didn't want to apologize.

I think being a Royal is hard work with all that pride, humility is a difficult thing to do for them. It appears it's very hard to apologize for them. "It's okay Pat. We understand. I said with an understanding nod. "I just came to say that. I'll be on my way." She said already on her way out.

"Byeeee!.." Nelly said nonchalantly without even looking at Pat. I don't know where this girl gets the guts but I wish I had her balls. She is truly the I don't give a damn kind of girl.

Pat's POV

I walked up to Lucy's room hoping to find Kenneth there. I think he is avoiding me these days. I hardly see him and the fact that I don't know his friends' room it drives me crazy. He is hardly at his office, or his room. The little time I get to see him, he would be wrapped around that little slut.

As I approached her room I heard them talking about me with her roomie. That stenchy girl sure spewed filth about me to Lucy. "Mmhh, girl I would say be careful with that one. I never stopped having this uneasiness about her from day one. I don't know what it is about her but something about her spells trouble. Not that I have anything against her but I just think she is on a mission. Who takes a transfer from their home to a far away place just two months after the semester started?" she had said.

"I don't know Nel, maybe we are just making a mountain out of a mole-hill?" the naïve Lucy responded and I smiled to myself. 'Poor Lucy, I wish you knew that it won't be a mountain but an avalanche that is waiting for you.' I thought to myself.

"Don't say I didn't warn you when she snatches your man. What if that is her mission here? Why the sudden change after meeting Ken? Stop being naïve for once Luce, open your eyes and shine them well." Nelly said. Is she some prophet or something?

I clenched my jaw. I wanted to storm in and punch her ugly face but I stood out and listened on to gorge out Lucy's thoughts about what Nelly said. I must admit Nelly has a good eye but it's a pity her friend is so naïve.

If only I could persuade Kenneth and rid him of this slow and weak human. I realized that though she seemed to hear her friend, she is a peace loving little human so she wasn't capable of fighting me because very soon she will have to go through me first to be near my man.

After seeing that he wasn't here either, my mouth went on again mumbling junk, betraying me by apologizing to Lucy. I knew Jacy had taken over my mind. This damned giant cat can be annoying sometimes.

How does a whole lioness like her suck up to these twits? Mere humans for that matter? I got out of there as soon as I finished apologizing. I felt that my pride as a royal lioness was trampled on.

Just as I got out of her room, I saw him approaching. I guess he could scent me because his eyes shot up and he frowned. "What are you doing here?" he growled at me. I looked down as a sign of respect to him. I wanted to win him by all means even if I got humiliated.

"I came to apologize to Lucy and…" my sentence was cut off by his lower belly rumble. "If you even dare talk to Lucy about your mate bond shit, I won't spare you. I don't care if you are princess. Do I make myself clear?" he bellowed.

"Oh so you are afraid of her knowing the truth?" I looked downed afraid to look into his enraged eyes. I swear to the goddess if he wasn't constrained he would have shifted and tore me to pieces. His usually hazel eyes were so dark and filled with rage.

"What truth?" we all turned to look at the source of the voice. I knew it was Lucy. I smirked. 'I guess now it's time to face the music' I said to Jacy who had just resurfaced in my mind. She purred but gave me a silent treatment.

"Babe it's nothing worth telling, you don't have to worry about it. Let's go inside and leave insignificant people out." Kenneth said while giving me a death glare. If looks could kill, I would be long dead from his constant glares.

Lucy folded her arms and said "it doesn't look anything like nothing worth telling. What's going on Pat?" she turned to me. 'Oh you did not just give me ammunition girl? I think it's time to plant the seed of doubt. "Your boyfriend here will tell you everything since it seems he never hides anything from you. Especially about insignificant people." I said walking away.
