Later that morning, Emy got dressed after taking a quick shower and went on her planned meeting with Ada.
The Chemex Café has been the usual coffee shop for Harry, Ada, and Emy since their college days as it is located near their graduated university. It is where most of their significant memories happened, especially for Ada and Harry; this coffee shop had witnessed some parts of their moments that Emy is still unaware of.
Emy could smell the aroma of coffee beans as she enters the café and was greeted by the staffs as soon as she approaches the counter to order her usual Irish coffee topped with nutmeg.
"How are you doing Miss Emy?" Nas, one of the barista greeted Emy as she is a familiar face at the café.
"I'm doing good, nas! How are you?" Emy responded with a smile at the young man in the counter.
"Great now that I see you! It's good to start a morning with familiar face" Nas said with a polite smile
Emy noticed the familiar music playing at the café, she asks "Oh! I didn't know this café is a fan of the STAR?!"
"Oh! All of the staffs here love them! I'm not surprised that you know them as well Miss Emy"
"My daughter is a big fan too"
"That's nice! I must say she has a good taste on music though…here is your usual Irish coffee Miss Emy. Have a good day!" Nas said as he serves Emy's coffee.
Listening to the music playing, Emy thought of Saff as she is now sitting at their usual couch with the coffee table in front of her where she had placed her coffee. Emy recall her conversation with Manager Kate last night, 'it should not be a big deal for her...right? What's in it for her if she had wrong information?' Emy questioned in her mind.
But Emy felt as if everything that is connected to Saff is a big deal for her now, 'because I'm her manager! Yes...that must be it, right? It should be the only reason Emy!' convincing herself in her mind. One of her eyebrows raise as Emy realized that last night should have been the right opportunity to asked Saff directly about that, 'Why didn't I ask him? I am such an idiot!' Emy thought scolding herself.
"Are you casting incantation there?!" Emy heard a voice asked as she shifted her gaze from the coffee on the table to the person on her side, it's Ada.
"Oh! Finally you're here…" Emy sighed seeing Ada, not realizing that she is murmuring at herself while in deep thoughts, she continue to say "did you already ordered your coffee?".
"Yah...I was about to, wait here" Ada placed her bag at the couch across Emy's and just took her wallet with her as she went to the counter to get her usual red eye coffee.
After 5 minutes she went back to sit on the couch facing Emy, smelling the coffee, Ada took a sip waiting for Emy to speak.
"Ada...there is something you're not telling me aren't you?" Emy said as she looked directly with a serious face at Ada, arms crossed below her chest.
Emy somehow suspected that Ada has made up the information just to convince her to get the job, that's why her attitude now towards her best friend is quite confrontational.
Mean while, Ada felt tensed by Emy's gaze, though she had planned all night how she would tell Emy the whole details between her and Harry, still she can't help but feel nervous under Emy's serious gaze.
"Alright…where do you want me to start?" Ada gathered all her courage as she took a deep breath, somehow admitting it at Emy but also making sure how much she already know about them.
"So there is..." Emy said as Ada finally confirmed it, her eyes narrowed at Ada now.
"Oh! for goodness sake! Would you drop that look Emy! It's giving me Goosebumps already!" Ada who is feeling nervous and anxious exclaimed at Emy.
"Oh! Ada, it's because I have been worried about it since last night! If only you knew..." Emy sighed at the suspense feeling that is starting to form between them right now; it is like when she is watching a thriller movie where the killer is about to come and stab the lead actor.
"Okay! Okay! Let's get to the point! We haven't told you about us before because we thought back then that it's not the right time as you were still mourn-" Ada haven't finished speaking yet when Emy cut her words to say "what are you talking about Ada?!" Emy's eyebrows furrowed at Ada's words, totally confused! This is not the answer that she had expected from her.
Ada blinked twice, thrice, realizing that something is off so she decided to play safe as she shook her head and says "Hmm? It's nothing…" plastering a smile on her face that didn't reach her eyes
Emy just shrug it off and continue to say "Did you just make up the story about the manager?" directly at Ada without beating around the bush this time.
"What?!" now it's Ada who's eyebrows are furrowed at Emy's question! She then continues to say "What manager? I don't understand…"
"Alright I'll rephrase the question...where did you get the idea that one of the idol's previous manager resigned because of marital priorities?" Emy said as she leans at the table to get a closer look at Ada like she was interrogating her right now.
"Oh that...I told you before Emy, I spoke to one of the managers and that's what she told me...that's why they badly needed someone who is suited for the position and I swear I'm not making that up Emy!" Ada deeply sighed as she leans at the back rest of the couch she is sitting on, feeling all the nervousness and anxiety finally leaves her body and her shoulders droop down as if it drained all her energy.
"Then who is it? Did you know the name of the manager who said it?" Emy asked as she believes with what her best friend is telling her right now but still she can't help being worried about it.
"Her name...if I'm right...I think it's Anne" Ada answered trying to recall her memory of that manager.
Emy is quite stunned with Ada's answer, there is only one Anne that she knew and she is also a manager, every hint leads to only one person.
Ada continues to ask as she is now getting more and more curious "Why? What happened?"
"It's last night, I went out with the other managers as a welcome party for me, I had a conversation with the other manager whose name is Kate and I have never expected to hear from her that Saff, the Idol member I'm handling now never had a manager with that story. He simply didn't have one as his personal manager…ever since"
"Wow…that's a good twist! Then...why would Anne make a story like that?" Ada asked trying to figure out the true intention behind that as she took a sip on her coffee.
Emy didn't say a word now as she also didn't have even a slightest idea on why did Manager Anne said what she has said to Ada. Drinking her coffee like her best friend, Emy now leans at the back rest of the couch as she frown thinking about it.
While Emy is in deep thoughts, Ada on the other side felt relieved as Emy didn't asked further about what she have said awhile ago. She closed her eyes for seconds as she was already close to being caught if Emy didn't cut her words awhile ago, though she also felt guilty at the same time that she hadn't told Emy yet, Ada found out that she isn't really prepared yet for her reaction, especially not now that Harry seemed to be out of the picture.
Opening her eyes, Ada stares at the glass window beside their table, thinking about Harry again and what happened that night at his condominium. She closed her eyes again trying to repress the memory of him with another woman, that feeling of seeing him with other woman beside him who looks with so much compassion on to him, somehow made her questioning herself on to what if she was in her position.
Opening her eyes once again, her stares shifted to Emy. Thinking she hadn't told her about it either, Ada felt more guilty as it just added up another skeleton in the closet, and it saddened her to the core.
Emy caught Ada staring at her, though she wanted to ask her why? In the end she just kept silent as they both took a sip of their coffee and look away at the glass window. Emy wanted to tell Ada right now that Saff somehow confessed to her, if that would be considered as confession. However, she already planned on blocking his feelings or whatever it is that he intends to do because clearly this won't go anywhere, and telling Ada now might stir up conflict with her plan.
